Magcloud was really great at responding to an issue I had. The magazine is very high end looking! I am a wedding photographer, and I wanted something super nice for my clients to take home with them after consultations as well as to be given to other vendors. Magcloud did an excellent job! I ordered them on 8/10, and they came in today on the 17th. Way faster than I expected! The print quality was pretty standard for $5.60/copy.
I ordered magazines - all damaged, misaligned, terrible packaging. Replaced and all damaged again. They told me twice "no refunds under any circumstances." Their refund policy does not say "no refund anywhere." Don't ever use them - alot of wasted time and money. Magcloud does not care at all about their customers.
Editor of a startup photography magazine here. Magcloud was not our first pick for paper quality, but the option for readers to purchase direct and have it drop-shipped, in addition to their low quantity orders was appealing for a startup with limited funds.
We ordered 100 copies of our first issue (to the tune of $1700) and they came with a distinct blue color cast. After going back and forth with CS for over 2 weeks (via email, because no direct phone #), sending multiple photos of the original proof (that was correct) compared to the blue ones, they're telling me they need me to fan out all 100 magazines and take pictures of every single one before they'll reprint. Seriously? Because the 10 photos and samples of 5 wasn't enough.
Meanwhile, $1700 down the toilet. Sub-par printing on a photography magazine is kindof a dealbreaker, but the lack of customer service is the ultimate death knell.
I paid extra money to have a book be delivered next day. The date of arrival comes and my book says it's still being "printed". Won't be receiving my business any longer.

First of all, if you order be aware that they print darker and far more dull color/vibrancy wise than any other printer out there. So pull the exposure and saturation up a bit (learned this the heard way).
After that, I was pretty happy using them for flyer type materials (no way would I use them for anything that was intended to show exactly how I shoot and edit.).
This time, I placed two orders on 9/4. One arrives on 9/12, and the other says 'ordered' (not even printing que yet) so I email about it. A lot of prodding for answers, they finally got it printed and my package of 25 digests were delivered on 9/19. AAAANDDD... they are not trimmed to the correct dimension, and thrown together sloppily (pages are uneven).
9/19: I email about this via their website (where you cannot upload photos, only send message).
9/20: They respond asking for photo proof. So I send a photo of the digest with a tape measure, as well as a photo showing the uneven pages.
9/21: They respond saying basically they need proof that all 25 digests were not trimmed and are the incorrect size. So I take a few photos showing the stack of digests and showing that they are ALL 6" in width, not 5.25 as they are suppose to be. And... no response.
Maybe I'll get them in a month or so from order date, wouldn't that be nice.
I'm done. After ordering from them for years, they are making me jump through hoops to prove that what I am telling them is true over $39. THIRTY NINE DOLLARS. Give me a break. Just reprint it already.
Tip for consumers:
That it would be SO difficult to get things squared away when the company messes up.
I wanted to close my MagCloud account due to poor customer service, but attempting to do this is not even a possibility to do on my own. Why is that?! I've spent about $1,000 in services - and planned on spending more throughout the year -- but my recent complaint about a print error (even though I created my publication with the MagCloud preset) was not resolved to my satisfaction. Apparently, MagCloud does not care about my business, so I have no choice but to look elsewhere for online publication services. Thank you for not caring about small publishers, MagCloud. Your service is cool, sure, but your customer service is not.
