Can't imagine why everyone wouldn't love Lumosity. I'm 83 and try to play every day. I see a drop in my score if I miss a day or two. It's fun and challenging. You can compare your score with others in your age group. If you are having trouble with your memory or just want to stay sharp, try it. I'm going to have my granddaughters try it tomorrow to see what they think.
Sneakily took out another annual subscription, seems the way these days.legalised theft. My one voluntary subscription only applies to one device so beware.

It's the same thing over and over. You simply learn how to do their "tests" better, but it doesn't improve your ability to increase brain capacity.
I signed up for 12 months of Lumosity in 2020. Without any email contact, they used the same credit card details for the next 3 years, 2021, 2012 and now 2023 to debit us. This card was out of date for the following years but Lumosity still used it to charge us. I have not used Lumosity since 2020 but we were still charged.
Tip for consumers:
Don't sign up for Lumosity

I purchased this app and used it for a number of months. At the end of the period it renewed withouit my permission. Beware! When I told them via email I did not want to continue, they told me they never charged me. The charge of $64.95 appears on my credit card statement. They can't find it. Either they are not a reputable company or they have customer service people trying to scam users.
It's totally BS. Half the times the scores are not reflecting reality. Also, obvious, these games mean nothing. If one has vision or hand problems, scores will reflect. Also, the scores are not at all accurate, the games reflect nothing. One should only play Lumosity for entertainment. Lumosity should not be allowed to advertise itself as a product which enhances brain capacity. It does not. It does entertain. Lumosity: Stop Miss Representing your product. Basically it's all BS.
I purchased from an online promotion. I am an iPad user and not tech savvy. Luminosity not compatible with Apple IPads because you need Adobe flash. When I inquired there's a whole bunch of steps you need to take to make it iPad friendly. Like use google chrome etc. Don't think you click a button to purchase and away we go. Can't get refund because my claim is past 30 day expire. There are other choices out there, less complicated and other more effective options for brain health.
In October 2021, I just tried to see how Lumosity works, but in every step, the pressure was enormous to subscribe with payment - and? Their subscription renewal is automatic! I subscribed on Oct 28,2021, paying $47.20; through - Google Play. Soon I became frustrated as it did not seem to work for the purpose it claimed to work.
Meanwhile, I saw on the Internet that Lumosity had been fined millions of dollars as its claims to enhance brain function were false, as the experimental results showed.
The games are nominal - no brainstorming as in other proven games like Sudoku and so on. The game I had tried most was about the twenty-nine train. Towards the beginning, the trains are too slow; at the end, they are extremely fast, making the game useless to brain exercising. I wrote them to adjust the trains' speeds to make the initial ones faster and the later ones slower. They said they would look through it in a reply, but they did nothing.
I don't think they would refund my one-year subscription, but I stopped the automatic renewal from being on the safe side.
From my experience, there is no reason for me to recommend this expensive app for any user.
Last year I found out that Lumosity had renewed my account without notifying me. I went into the site & set it to NOT auto renew. This year they went in an auto renewed again without my permission & charged my credit card. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. I just want all to know that is company is dishonest I feel that you should avoid them. There are so many other companies that offer this service with better games for functions than Lumosity.
This business is so dishonest! They renewed my membership for a year without any notice, then refused to cancel and refund my money. I checked the site today to make sure they weren't trying to charge me in the new year to find that they are now charging extra for the games that were included in the basic membership when I joined! Don't ever sign up with these scam artists!
I like the games, they do challenge me. Tried same free games for approximately 1 month. I unlocked and paid for membership wanting to try some new games. After 1 week there was only1 new game. What a SCAM!
Cannot get help with a problem accessing games! Have tried many times to get an answer to a question with no solution. With a company of this size one should have to ability to contact an actual person! Extremely unsatisfactory! Games are ok but not that great?
Will cancel my subscription shortly!
I signed up in October/17 for family plan so my wife & I could compete with one another. She became sick & unable to play so when I had the time (wasn't playing as was at hospital) I contacted them about some relief or refund. James responded by saying ( I paraphrase) "Tough Luck we are going to stick it to you" so No Refund. We are seniors on pension but this outfit won't compromise 1 little bit. Wasn't looking for full refund just some consideration for our circumstances. Don't get sucked in... their games are repetitive & support is minimal.
Lumosity is slick looking product, but the lack of any scientific evidence behind the games makes it a no go for me. PS4 is more useful.
I signed up for the "free" trial and got a $63.74 charge. I denied that charge a year ago and told Lumosity to remove me from their site. Now one year later I got charged their renewal fee of $60+. I have again denied this charge and told them they do not have permission to keep my information - period.
Interestingly, I sent them a rejection email via their site at around midnight and got a reply within 60 seconds that they would undo the charges -- they obviously get so many rejections and they have programmed an auto-reply.
Well marketed bull$#*!. You are stuck with your genetic lottery. Playing "brain" games is stupidity. Spend your time doing crafts, reading a book, socializing or exercising with/out equipment. Doesn't that sound better than lounging on your bed and playing worthless "brain" games? A person can "act" smart, but can never be smart if it was never meant to be. Thanks to google, everyone can act smart and just like google, luminosity is making you think you are smarter by using their service. Do you really want to spend part of your life in this delusional bull$#*!? Do yourself a favor and just uninstall.
Why isn't it a law that companies have to notify someone of an impending auto-renewal? Some do it, and some do not, but it's just a bit underhanded to not remind someone who never bothered to uncheck an auto-renewal box that they're about to get charged for something they might not even be using anymore.
Signing up for Lumosity now requires ongoing permanent payment UNLESS cancelled. Try cancelling! Lumosity refers you to a cancelling agency which charges $30. SHAME on Lumosity - this is an absolute rort and probably breaches consumer laws in most countries. AN ABSOULTE SCAM. AVOID unless you want to have regular payments from your account.
Lumosity's business practices are among the worst I've ever experience in my entire life. Upon first giving them a try I knowingly did everything i could to prevent AUTO-RENEWAL. At the end of the term I stopped getting daily reminders then out of nowhere I began getting them again in August. Turns out they AUTO RENEWAL happened in April. I contacted them only to get standard "sorry too bad" email. No phone call, no credit even for unused portion.
VERY IMPERSONAL and very customer adverse. It doesn't matter if a company has a good product or not if the customer service is beyond poor - in fact preditory!
Save yourself the agony.
These people are crooks. The site is useless for my child so she had stopped using it for a year. Yet, suddenly there was a charge put on my credit card. When I emailed them to ask for help, a punk who was one of their so-called Customer Rep emailed back refusing to help. I then said I was going to open a dispute with my credit card company (which I successfully did get a full reimbursement from Citi Card). This punk emailed back and said, quote, "... we only issue refund to members who are DEAD". What do you think of a company whose Customer Rep says that to their customer when they ask for a refund with a LEGITIMATE reason, ie. Haven't logged in nor used the site for a year.
It has been proved by many research that Lumosity does not improve IQ and all those false claims it makes on their website. They should be sued for misrepresentation. They also try to scam you with auto renewals that are really difficult to get out of.
Faulty app, continuous sneaky billing despite opting out, NO Phone number & take forever to respond with Pre written responses of no explanation what's really going on. Then will use every excuse not to reimburse non approved funds taken from you. I feel this company preys on what they believe as "stupid people needing brain improvements". I'm surprised they are still in business, not being sued.
Very Disapointed Fraustrated EX Customer.
Lumosity RENEWED MY SUBSCRIPTION WITHOUT MY CONSENT. WHEN I REQUESTED A REFUND THEY GAVE ME $59.95 instead of the $69.88! In the mean time my Bank of America charged me $35.00 for an overdraft fee. At the moments I live abroad tending to my elderly parents 88 and 89 years old - a mother with dementia and now Lumosity put me in a situation to call from overseas and pay crazy phone charges because when youre abroad you cannot use toll free numbers. It just doesnt work!
So. NO! Do NOT USE LUMOSITY! EVER!
BUYER BEWARE! I signed up for Lumosity a month ago. It's quite pricey when compared to other "games" so I wanted to try it out before I committed to a yearly (or longer) membership. I opted for the monthly payment and my account was debited immediately for the monthly membership amount. However, I was never allowed to access any of the games, other than the freebies, due to not being a "premium" member. I sent an email to customer service regarding the issue but they did not respond. But today they attempted to debit my bank account for another payment on a premium membership I don't have. RIP-OFF!
The games might be helpful for some. So it gets 1 star. But the trouble one must go thru to remove aut0-renew or remove an account is insanity. NO ONE ever calls back from customer service. I've only ever gotten an answering service, not a person. It's a smack in the face of people who may actually have memory issues, because it seems they are banking (literally) on people forgetting they are paying for this account, even if they're no longer able to use it. If users have to google how to remove an account: they should re-think their customer service. I will never use any this pay-for service or recommend it to memory-care clients/families.
