“Great solution for mowing lawns”

Dominique M.
11/18/21

I actually have a very huge backyard. It's so huge that it may take a half of day to me to mow the lawn on the backyard. So, as we live in the world of progress and I thought that it would be better to pay someone for mowing lawns, because I can't physically do it. I'm so tired after my work, that I don't have enough time to dedicate it mowing lawns. So, I foudn this service and found out that they can help you with mowing lawns for money. It's pretty good and I decided to order a human who would mow my lawn. Everything was done pretty quick, even quickly then I did and I recommend this service to other people.

The premise of this site is really good. Perhaps my area doesn't have enough contractors but my job was never picked up by a contractor. The most frustrating part is that they deduct the payment when you place the job and it takes "5-7" days to get a refund.

This would be a great service if they actually had contractors who will pick up mows. I had used them a few times and it worked, but way too often, nobody takes the job, and now I'm looking for real lawn care services to do a job in a hurry. Great service in theory, but do not use them if you want dependability. Even at nearly $40, nobody took my easy job. Nevermind.

I found this website with high expectations. I waited all day and nobody showed up. I'm having a gathering which is why I needed my lawn mowed in a hurry. I sent emails and nobody has yet to respond. I will not use this service again.

I do not know how they stay in business? I requested my lawn be mowed LAST SUNDAY. It is THURSDAY. They took my money and no one ever came. I have booked lawn services on other sites and this has never happened?! I don't know if they do not have anyone in the area or what but then don't take people's money until you actually have someone then? Idk... no bueno. :(

They took my payment days ago. The contractor NEVER came.
They don't have a phone # for complaints or concerns. They don't have anyway for the service or the contractor or the customer to communicate. But they sure can take your $$ fast!

Mindy,

We are sorry that your order was not picked up by one of the contractors on www.LawnMowingOnline.com. We are actively working to recruit more contractors in your area so we hope in the future you will try our services again! Like ordering, customers can cancel at any time during the process for a full refund. Your order has been successfully canceled and the refund is processing. While we refund cancelled orders immediately, the bank of the card you used can take 5 to 7 business days to complete the refund process.

Thank you for your order.

Pretty simple, my lawn needed to be mowed, contractor accepted the bid, and didn't show up. Then they make you wait 72 hours to resolve the dispute, it's ridiculous.

I broke my hand, so I needed someone to mow my lawn. I thought this site could be the answer to my problem. They had no problem accepting my money, but I didnt get any communication after that. After three days of trying to get someone to mow my lawn, I just gave up and mowed the lawn with my broken hand. Thanks for nothing. Runnning a business requires more than just setting up a website. You actuallly have to provide the service you offer.

I have been using their service for a few years now to cut my elderly fathers lawn. It is about all he can afford and now I am disabled and unable to cut for him. They are unreliable. In addition they need to stop advertising for $19 sure this it what we were paying. But this last time all of a sudden they said the lawn went into bidding. The same guy who had just cut the time before for $24 plus I tipped now wanted $30 another guy offered a bid for $39. The professional landscapers only charge $35 and they do a beautiful job. Finally after 3 days of when the lawn was to be mowed a bid of $24 came in and I accepted. Well it has been 10 tens now since lawnmowing online accepted my payment terms at check out. My elderly father still does not have his lawn mowed. No one will contact you. Finally I received an email from the office stating I can cancel. But if I cancel I will not see my funds back for another 7 days. My father is on a fixed income he sets that money aside at the beginning of the month. He does not have the available funds to pay another mower and now the lawn is twice as high and will cost double that. My father is in tears he lives in a strict area where you are highly fined if the grass is too high. I just has part of my kidney removed in December and should not be in this heat but will have to mow on Sunday my day off. To me this is falsely misleading customers especially the elderly and disabled when they advertise at $19 and accept your payment at checkout and even give a mow date. Then next thing you know you are being high jacked for more money. I was told by the company I could wait it out until a lower price comes up which I did but no one showed up.

I tried using this service 2 separate times, both without success. When I canceled the order the second time, I received the following rude message from customer service.

LawnMowingOnline Support, Sep 24,18:32:
We do not have slaves, if you order again add tips everyday to fairly compensate the contractors in the area.

I added a tip to my original order & was fairly compensating in my area. I have contracted lawn care services for the past 3 years, so I'm more than familiar with fair compensation.

You admit you have never had a successful order but you've tried twice. Clearly you're not offering the contractors in your area a fair amount if this keeps happening to only you but everyone else is getting their lawn mowed. If you do not want to offer enough to have your lawn mowed in your area then please, never order again. LawnMowingOnline does not have the ability to "force" someone to mow your lawn like you would apparently want us to do. Like it says, they are not slaves, they need to be paid a fair wage and you refuse to offer them a fair wage.

They charged a $15 cancellation fee when the job wasn't accepted by a contractor. They didnt charge the fee until after I requested, and paid for, another mow job. Terrible customer service. I will never use this service again. They shove their $15 fee and crappy job.

Customer agreed to be charged $15 early cancellation fee. Fee is in 3 locations: TOS that all customers must agree to before ordering, the FAQs, and on the cancellation page

http://www.lawnmowingonline.com/faqs.php#Q44

24. I placed a order and quickly cancelled and was charged a $15 fee, what was the fee for?
A: Cancellation fees are very common in service industry type businesses. Doctors, dentists, hair salons, moving companies and many other businesses charge fees if a appointment is cancelled within a certain time frame of when the service is being provided. So we adopted the same polices that those businesses do. If a person schedules services and cancels within 2 business days of the order being placed LawnMowingOnline reserves the right to charge a $15 fee. The policy has worked exactly as expected, more orders are getting accepted and mowed and fewer orders are being cancelled. Avoiding this fee is simple, just do not cancel within 2 business days of scheduling service. For example, if you order May 1st for mowing on May 2nd, do not cancel on May 1st, May 2nd (1 day) or May 3rd (2 days). The order can be cancelled on May 4th (3 days since May 1st) and there will be no fee. Of course by then the order will likely be accepted by a contractor and already mowed so there would no longer be any reason to cancel.

To make sure every customer knows about the cancellation fee it is listed in 2 places. It is listed on the Terms of Service page that all customers agree to before placing an order and the cancellation fee is explained in bold text and underlined on the cancellation page that all customers must fill out to cancel an order.

Tried using this site. Job remained pending for 48 hours... Once we tried to cancel they would only refund a "portion" of our money. Impossible to reach the company. They don't respond to emails. There's no phone number. Complete rip off... Use someone local and do your own research. Don't use these bogus websites.

I've used this service on & off for about 4 years, and in all that time I never had a problem, until last week when I tried to cancel an order for the first time. That's when the true colors of the owners and/or operators of this company came out.

If you scan through the reviews of this company on this site and others, youll notice that most reviews are highly positive while a smaller but still significant number are very negative. The reason for this is that the vast majority of customers never have to deal directly with the company, only the contractors. Once they try to cancel an order or something else that requires contacting the site management, thats when the terrible customer service experience begins, as I discovered personally.

I had requested a mowing job on Tuesday, Sept 6th, but no one accepted the job, and then on Friday I requested a cancellation. The website in general is very poorly designed and hard to navigate, but the cancellation link is especially hard to find, more likely by design than through incompetence. I received a message saying it would take 24 hours to process my cancellation and that in the meantime the order might be reopened and accepted by a contractor, a tactic that seems to be designed to dissuade the customer from proceeding with the cancellation since it becomes much more difficult to get a cancellation once the order is accepted. The day after I cancelled the order, this is exactly what happened, and I messaged the contractor to ask him not to mow my lawn and he complied. 6 days later I still had not received a refund or even a message telling me that my cancellation was being processed so I contacted the website to ask about it. I was told that the only way the contractor would get paid was if I dropped my cancellation request, even though the contractor had never actually mowed my lawn. I got in contact with the contractor and he told me that the website administrators were withholding payment for some of his recently finished jobs as well as all future jobs until I resolved the issue with the website (which meant dropping my cancellation request). I then contacted the website and asked why they were holding the contractor's payment hostage in order to pressure me to drop my cancellation request. The person who responded (it said Lawnmowingonline support, but I suspect it was the owner/operator of the site) told me "F*ck you and the contractor, both of you get off my website." I was so shocked that a business could be this unprofessional that I took some screenshots (attached) of the exchange in case anyone didn't believe me. After this message, I received an email from PayPal indicating that my refund was being processed (along with a message from lawnmowingonline.com telling me I was permanently banned from using their site), but after that I received a text from the contractor saying they were still withholding payment and that I needed to add a message saying that the matter was resolved and include my address in order for him to finally get paid for his other jobs, which I did. The fact that the website tried to play us off each other is unprofessional and sleazy behavior to say the least.

I actually first posted a review on this website last week. A few hours after it went live, someone from the site posted a ridiculous response blaming the poor contractor for my negative experience, even though that clearly didnt jive with the reality of what actually happened which I described in my review. Then the contractor sent me a screenshot of some messages he exchanged with the website (attached) in which they refused to pay him for four jobs ordered by completely different customers (none of them me) until he got me to change my negative review to a positive one. In order to help the contractor get paid for his hard work, I deleted the review on this site along with another one on another site. Three days later, I contacted the contractor to see if hed received his money, and he said that not only has he not, but the company is now completely ignoring him.

This company is engaging in criminal activity. Last time I checked, its illegal to withhold payment for services rendered, no matter how small the amount. If the contractor wanted to, he could successfully sue this company for breach of contract, but because the amount of money in dispute is relatively small, the company owner knows it wouldnt be worth the time and effort of a lawsuit, which is why hes behaving in so brazen a manner.

Needless to say, this company is not worthy of your business. They have many competitors and I highly suggest you stay away from this amateurish operation run by some people with very, very low character. If this were a just world, then their pathetic website, terrible customer service, and predatory (and illegal!) behavior towards contractors and customers would get them shut down permanently.

UPDATE
Everything in the response below is a ridiculous lie. This man is a congenital liar and a thief. He's trying to pin the blame on the poor contractor who I'd never contacted prior to the website owner refusing to pay him for his hard work. If you read the other reviews on this site, it's just the same sad story, with different contractors getting screwed over by this guy. Everything this liar is saying is contradicted by the screenshots I've posted.

And to make clear to the owner/operator of lawnmowingonline: you sir are a liar and a cheat. The reason I am complaining about your company is because the way you treated me and the contractor, including saying F*ck you to both of us.

Tip for consumers:
Stay away!

Lawn M. – LawnMowingOnline Rep

You messaged support and the contractor saying everything had been resolved. Clearly by this negative the review you are not satisfied. The website is very simple: contractors are responsible for customer satisfaction. No one orders to cancel, so when a customer that has been ordering for 4 years has their order taken by a contractor and suddenly cancels and sends a message to that contractor "No, I never want you to mow my property", that obviously looks a little suspicious. The contractor has been removed from the website and will not be paid until they contact you and resolve all problems. After 4 years of ordering, this contractor took the order and did something to cause you to cancel, even after the contractor offered to come next week or at any other later date you wanted nothing to do with the contractor. Even if you had mowed the lawn that day and cancelled, the grass does grow back, and since you have been ordering for 4 years it's clearly the contractor is doing something to cause you to cancel and never want the contractor to return. LawnMowingOnline can not have contractors on the website that are causing problems like this, so until this contractor resolves all problems they will remain off the website.

Okay so, a friend of mine recommended this service and I was ecstatic. I placed my order this Wednesday for the following day (yesterday) and the job was accepted. Well yesterday came and went with no lawn mowed or response from the contractor. I messaged them again this afternoon and was told he will be there within the hour (around 4pm). He showed up at 6:30 and when he disappeared I looked out to see he missed several areas that still needed weed eating, the grass was left uneven in areas & there is still grass all over my sidewalk and porch! I also sent a message to support this morning letting them know the situation. I just received a message from them saying "work it out with the contractor, looks like they have been sending you messages today". I don't know about you, but I found this to be callous and felt like they don't want to be bothered. What type of business does this?

Thumbnail of user lawnm1
Lawn M. – LawnMowingOnline Rep

Work it out with the contractor. That means exactly what it says. If you bothered to wait a few minutes before running all over the internet complaining you would have seen the contractor already replied: I'm sorry for that when he gets in I'll. Make sure he's back there in the morning to correct the problem. Don't worry we'll fix it.

Based on a recommendation on Next door, I contracted Lawnmowingonine.com to mow my lawn twice while on vacation recently. On the website, you select a mow date, yard size, grass length and any message to the mower. I clearly stated that a commercial mower would not fit between my garage and the pool in the back yard. Both jobs were picked up by a mowing service (the website doesn't give their name). The first mow date came and went without acknowledgement that the lawn was mowed. I messaged the mower each day. Three days later, the mower sent a message that he couldn't mow my yard because his commercial mower wouldn't fit in the back yard. Really? The same thing happened for the second mow date. Finally, I put in an order for just the front yard, which did get mowed. I had to pay extra because the grass was so long. Lawnmowingonline did refund the charges for the two unfilled orders.
I will never use this service again. The mowing services don't read their messages, they don't perform the work on the contracted date, and don't communicate with the customer, as stated on the website.

Never ever ever ever use lawnmowinonline.com to have you yard mowed. There contractor didn't show up for 4 days and kept providing flimsy excuses. When I contacted the company for a refund I was told to "$#*! off" from there internal support person.
I was told the contractors father died a day after he'd already missed the appointment.
This company is a joke. The contractors refused to cancel and refund. As per the company policy the contractors must cancel and then they issue a refund. He didn't cancel after multiple requests and when I opened a dispute with the company I was told to F**K Off. Wasy to keep it Classy.

Awful Service. Just Terrible.

I ordered service for my mom in Austin and it was the worst service ever. They sent a fat guy out that put ditches all through my lawn. I received no response from these guys and no refund. Look at the reviews on here all are made up by the owner. Click on the profiles and you will see that all the people who left a review only seemed to leave one review and it so happens to be on this website. BEWARE of LAWNMOWINGONLINE.com its a scam!

I bet the owner will come on here and try to bash me just to save face but couldn't even return an email. Lets just see people. This service is a joke and I will make sure everyone knows not to use them. Check out their BBB.org complaints the guy argues with every customer. Not a good business.

Every customer that requests a refund within 3 days of the lawn being mowed is given a 100% full refund. The reviews on sitejabber are real, sitejabber closely screens all reviews to prevent companies from leaving dozens of reviews for themselves. LawnMowingOnline.com has not received any complaints about ditches left in a yard in Austin and has never received an order from a customer named "Pete" so we do not know who this person is, possibly a former contractor that was removed from the website or a rival company that does not like that we offer lawn mowing in Austin for $19.

I needed my lawn mowed, went online, found their site, a few clicks and my job was accepted. I was unsure of the height measurement so I paid extra, it was well worth it. They came the next day. Looked great! Very pleased and will use them again.

Update: I've used Lawnmowingonline.com 4 times, the first 2 times was awesome, no problems at all, however, the next 2 times I had considerable issues. First, I ordered for the same services as the two times before, added additional tips and no one accepted the job. Asked for a refund and received it after Several days. Second, I ordered again for the same services, added 3 additional tips to have it accepted, no one accepted. I sent an email to cancel the order and then I receive a email saying that my order was accepted 6 hours after I canceled it. I contacted the contractor and let him know I canceled my order and no longer needed his services. He asked was I sure I canceled because I was still listed on his job list. Yes I was sure! It took several requests for refund and they refunded my money minus $15 for the cancel being within 48 hrs. That was total crap! No one accepted the job until I put in a cancelation request. They had added that little gem about the $15 since the last job I canceled. I had to send a separate request to get a refund of the additional tips I made. I have to say since my first review the overall customer service and professionalism with this company has greatly declined. Not professional, poor customer service. The person replying to all the refund requests seems to take the requests personally and his replies reflect that.

Tip for consumers:
Beware the person who responds to your emails and request has a major chip on their shoulder and is not professional at all. I would not recommend using their services.

The 1st contractor they sent was a guy that borrowed his cheap dull mower from a family member. So they don't really screen their contractors. Since it was only $25 I let that slide and tried again. Hit the jackpot with the 2nd contractor... a REAL professional with FABULOUS equipment, named Walter. I have recommended him to several people locally. Unfortunately the SUPPORT PERSON THERE IS RUDE and ridiculous. They accused me of reporting their emails as SPAM (which I had not) and insisting I set up a gmail account if I wanted to do business with them. This was my 2nd offensive encounter with their "SUPPORT PERSON". They have now cancelled my order, refused to send a mower and HAVE NOT REFUNDED MY $$

EDIT TO ADD.
I don't need the company to send me emails to communicate with the contractor. I asked them to stop sending me emails because they kept spamming me with solicitations. The nasty support person said they had set my account to not receive emails so this is their doing. Before being "banned" I communicated JUST FINE with the contractors via their website. The owner of this company is ruining it for their good contractors. They have kept my payment but refused to provide service.

EDIT TO ADD AGAIN BECAUSE THE OWNER CAN"T READ VERY WELL... Like I said, I had been communicating JUST FINE with the contractors via the company website. I am not going to set up a gmail account because the owner told me to.
They had NO REASON to send me any emails, although i had been receiving constant email solicitations from them.
I had nothing to do with the emails showing up as "rejected"
It didnt matter. I placed orders and there were NO ISSUES.
The OWNER is worried that his company is being reported as a SPAM site... probably has to do with all the unwanted solicitation that they send. I would only use the MESSAGE function on the website.

My main complaint NOW is that the company cancelled the service and my account, but will not refund my money.

I am not interested in doing business with such a lunatic jerk.
Read the other comments about him... I am not alone in my opinion.
YOU are damaging the ability for good contractors to work.
NOW... can you please refund the money I paid you for the service you refused to provide?

EDIT TO ADD. Notification of Refund Received from Paypal!

Yes, you have been banned from the website. Emails sent to the customer by contractors who were asking her questions about mowing her lawn were being rejected, so we asked the customer to change her email address so she would receive these emails. This is not uncommon, but instead of the usual response of "of course thank you" the customer refused, instead writing back a nasty email in ALL CAPS. We tried again, sending screenshots of the error messages we were receiving. Again customer refused. Since contractors could not communicate with the customer we cancelled the order and told her not to place future orders. Customer than placed more orders after being told not to and threatened to leave negative reviews on Yelp and Facebook. As a business we have the right to refuse service just like any company and should not be threatened with negative reviews if we refuse service. Customer has been banned from the website.

We've used them several times and they are good if they happen to show up to do the job.
The problem is that they don't care if their contractors show up or not. They tell you straight up that you are responsible for getting the contractor to show up and do the work. We've been left texting and emailing and messaging desperately trying to get a service we payed for. Lawnmowingonline just tells us that we need to work it out with the contractor instead of just sending someone else to do the work. I would strongly recommend you use someone else.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use them

The contractor has been ban from the website for not mowing your property. Order cancelled and refunded. When you have problems in the future it's better to contact support first before you post negative reviews on public forums. Had you contacted support the order could have been reposted and the lawn mowed. I don't know why you said you've been texting and emailing desperately because you sent only 1 message to the contractor for the lawn that was suppose to be mowed yesterday and after you posted this negative review you sent 1 message to support. Yes, you are right, customers do need to communicate with the contractor if there is a problem, and if the contractor does not reply then the customer can contact support so the situation can be resolved. Not contact contractor, 5 minutes later post negative online review, 5 minutes later email support. That is not enough time to get anything resolved.

I have been a loyal customer for years but recently they changed EVERYTHING! Their service is now "bids" so you have to negotiate every single time you want your lawn mowed. If you have unreasonable bid offers and cancel, you are charged $15. I cancelled 3 days after my payment ans was charged this fee even though theinew ridiculous policy states after 2 days you aren't charged. I will never use this service again. Treating loyal clients like trash will get you nowhere!

Customer agreed to be charged $15 early cancellation fee. Fee is in 3 locations: TOS that all customers must agree to before ordering, the FAQs, and on the cancellation page the customer read and agreed to before cancelling.

I placed an order... no one called or texted or email or showed up. I informed them via their web site and 8 days later they gave me a partial refund or $22.00 versus a full refund of $37.00. First why did I have to wait 8 days. I give dissatisfied customers a paypal refund within 24 hours. I have repeatedly requested my $15.00 and no one responds.

We had used them several times over the course of a year and all of a sudden they said that we had lied about our lawn size. We had placed the same exact order 10 times in a year and all of a sudden we had lied about our lawn size? If that were true, they should have simply charged us the difference, which we would have paid, but instead they accused us of LYING and REFUSED TO REFUND OUR MONEY! Even though they NEVER MOWED OUR LAWN! I had to dispute it with our bank and am waiting to get the money back. Granted it's only $24 but the principle of the matter is they are keeping money they never earned! THIEVES! DON'T USE THIS SERVICE! We are filing CRIMINAL THEFT CHARGES against them in MO this week for THEFT.

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL PROMISE TO MOW AND NEVER MOW ON TRUMPED UP LIES STATING THAT SOMEHOW YOU LIED TO THEM AND THEN KEEP YOUR MONEY WITHOUT ACTUALLY COMPLETING THE SERVICE!!!
