Needed pain relief due to hamstring/sciatic nerve issue from exercise and running. Was advised by one of my running coaches to seek massage and one of the providers she recommended was Laura Tyree. Laura does not do massage, but she does a technique called Myo-fascial Release (in addition to Theta Healing and teaching Yoga). "This gentle technique of quiet pressure and stretching relieves pain from the restriction of connective tissue damage. " Her website is lauratyree.com My first visit was 1.5 hrs, with the first 20 or so minutes consisting of us discussing why I was there, Laura evaluating me, and then talking about the technique and what was going to happen. I walked out after the session with a little less pain, but the next day realized she'd helped an issue I hadn't mentioned (that I thought I would have to live with). My right knee would not fully extend immediately upon standing, due to tightness after surgery a year prior. After my first visit with Laura, the knee extended properly upon standing (without me having to rub it or hobble for a few steps) and it also flexes a bit better. The treatment she provides takes effect over time, and as the days went by, my hamstring pain got better (but didn't go away). We had discussed the probability that it would require at least 2 visits, if not more, to resolve my issue. I returned a week later for a 60 min visit, and my situation improved even more, and Laura said I was 85% toward my goal. I could return or just let the issue finish resolving itself if I didn't want to spend the money for another appt. A week after the 2nd visit, I had no hamstring pain, and only slight discomfort (tightness) when running, that didn't plague me after my run. Laura texted me asked that I return for a 3rd visit (30 mins) to get me to 100%, and I agreed. Why start something and not finish it? I went for my 3rd visit today (a week after my 2nd visit), and am very satisfied with how I feel and look forward to feeling the benefits in the coming days. I will definitely return to Laura if I have other issues in the future that this technique can benefit, or just for a yearly (or bi-yearly) body tune-up. I'd much rather have hands-on, caring therapy for my body than to take meds for pain and just feel like I have to live with it. I'd never heard of myo-fascial release before I went to Laura, but now I'm a huge fan and tell everyone I know, who might find her treatment beneficial. First visit for new client - $125 for 90 mins. After that, 60 min visits are $95. My total cost was $220 (plus gratuity, which is not required but I was happy to give).
