BEWARE of Deceptive upsell and billing practices when onboarding on trial

BEWARE: Deceptive subscription and billing practices.
If you are looking for a mobile diet and exercised product that is comprehensive and integrates with your high end devices, look no further. But if you want to TRY IT FIRST, this review is for you.
On Dec 5,2024, like many preparing for a NEW YEAR, I decided to try LASTA because their cute exercise videos are always in my social feed. AND they had a 75% of 90 day trial. I thought that was long enough to see if I was going to stick to this DIY exercise program.
Apparently in my eagerness to get through all the onboarding questions and just get to the app to try it out, they send you through a bunch of add on and options. HOWEVER, the way they put the button and their call to actions... There is a congrats message, a confirmation that you are agreeing to pay for the mentioned product (no name so you think it is the free trial) with the option to CONTINUE in a big button, or click "next offer" in small print under the CONTINUE button. The logical behavior is to continue. No option to go back. No additional review to confirm purchase... like one shopping cart listing 90 day free trial and the BUNDLE OF EXERCISE VIDEOS you signed up for that cost more than the trial if it was full price. They are seamlessly in the app so you don't see - standard and premium videos. AND you don't realize you are paying an additional $29.99 a month (Starting first month) until your reminder says to go check and cancel your discounted trial and you see they have been billing you the $29.99 a month all along. AND to cancel takes practically an act of GOD. You can't just cancel. You can't reply to the email confirmation of your order (noreply email), there aren't active links in their email, there is is no login prompt to get access to the "GUIDES" you supposedly purchased (see their explanation on why they can't refund the mysterious guides i did not want to or intend to or even realized I had purchased). You have to google their name to find their website and then you have to fill out a form, send multiple emails, and since they don't put order numbers on their invoices or on their charges, you don't know exactly how you ordered it...You get them to track by the date, email that got the initial confirmation and last 4 digits on the credit card... because it was in a social media add on your phone. They don't inform you of their refund policy. You get charged another month for the upgrade that you never wanted. AND THEN THE REAL CATCH. THEY WON'T REFUND THE FULL AMOUNT. ONLY 30%. They claim because you have the content downloaded they can't stop you from using it... HELLO That is what the app is for. AND totally contradicts the idea that you might try different types of exercises and then cancel and try another. If you can't use the app, you can't use the content. So their 75% promo that cost me $19, ended up costing me $139 for 3 months + 1 that they didn't cancel until after it charged since they took a week to take action at all. The 30% of the total amount their "policy permits' refunded didn't even cover the cost of the last month they charged even though I had requested to cancel a week before that... I should see in a few weeks.
I gave 2 stars because I do like how the apped worked, the little bit I was able to do before injuring my hip guessing how to do the floor exercise properly.
I told them that their practices may not be illegal, but they were definitely deceiving and unethical.

Tip for consumers:

It is this kind of deceptive behavior of a software company that advertises massively so you give in wanting the results they promise, only to find out that you are trapped in an expensive subscription that you wonder is it even worth my time to try to get them to stop billing me for something i never wanted. It makes you NEVER want to order anything from an ad on your phone because they must all be scammers.

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Lasta app with you, and it's not a pleasant experience, to say the least.

I was really looking forward to using this app, especially for the meal planning feature that was advertised. However, after subscribing and paying for it, I quickly realized that this feature was nowhere to be found. It's disappointing when a service doesn't live up to its promises.

To make matters worse, the lack of customer support is incredibly frustrating. I reached out multiple times for help and even requested a refund, but all I received were automated responses. It's disheartening to be met with such indifference and lack of human interaction.

And let's not forget the struggle to unsubscribe from the service. It's like hitting a brick wall with no clear way out. Feeling stuck in a subscription you no longer want is a frustrating and helpless situation to be in.

I really hope you don't have to go through the same disappointment. Save yourself the trouble and avoid the Lasta app. Trust me, it's not worth the money or the headache.

I can not even explain how angry I am. I've never been so frustrated with a company in my life. I never even wrote bad reviews. But like other have stated with their complaints. This is a total scam and I don't know how there are all those great reviews. I almost believe that they may be from fake accounts. Because this is crazy. They make it almost impossible for you to cancel before your trial end day. You can't get in touch with ANYONE. I bought a week of Lasta on the App. $6.99. So it wasn't a free trial. They have weekly, monthly and yearly options. I choosing the $6.99 for a week assumed I was choosing the weekly. But wanted to see how I'd feel about it for a week. I have a week to cancel. Ok fine. I did not like the app at all. Just not for me. But I paid for a week so I'm going to use what I paid for. Before my trial end I went to cancel. There's no way to cancel on the app. You can only email or call. So I call early. They are claim on their outgoing phone message they are offline til 9am. I call back 9 am. Still offline. I call back 915 still offline, 930,945,10:15 still offline. No one answers. Finally around 10:45 they say they will take your call shortly and put you on hold for 5min 50 secs and then say they're sorry they're not taking calls or whatever and disconnect the call. Each time you do this this is what happens. I called several times. I was also working this day so I couldn't stop to write an email so calling and walking around doing my job was easiest. But to no avail. I couldn't do a call back because I can only take calls at certain times at work. After I get off work at 6pm. I call again. They're closed. And as I'm going onto their site to email and send over a support ticket. I see a charge notification come through on my debit card from Lasta of not $6.99 for another week. But $99.99 for premium. WHAT?! No this is not what I wanted. I did not authorize this. And it's NOT even the end of my week trial that I paid for. Wouldn't it end at 11:59 pm? Not 6:30 pm. Either way I tried all day to cancel. I sent a ticket explaining the situation. Then on Monday I also sent another ticket and proceeded to call at 9am. What do you know. They are offline again. I Called several times. They were offline til again about 10:40 am. I get through and do the waiting on hold for 5.5 mins and I get the sorry you can't be helped right now try again later and disconnect. (I have screenshot recordings of all of these with time stamps) I call again this time I'm driving, not at work yet so I do the call back option. I actually get a call back around 11:40. I speak to a guy tell him the situation he creates another ticket and says he would give my refund request to billing dept and I should hear back within 48 hrs 🤦🏾‍. I finally get an email back a today Tuesday saying that they will not refund me the $99.99 bit will give me 2 extra months. Because I signed up for auto renewal of premium 3 months from the weekly. No no no. This is not what I wanted. I don't even like the app. They said It was on the welcome email. Which I didn't even know I was getting emails from Lasta. I get tons of app notifications but not emails. Found them in my spam folder today. Says on the bottom that it will renew to $99 if not cancelled. But it doesn't matter because I've been trying to call and cancel before it was expiring. I'm beyond angry. You know if $6.99 came out of my account I'd be annoyed. But $99!? Just taken! It's like someone walked in my house and stole money. I swear this tactic is done on purpose. I've never had any issue like this cancelling a service through an app, EVER! Who has $99 to just throw away in this economy? And what's worse is this week I'm taking my kids on a staycation beach trip for Easter and now I'm $99 short for absolutely no reason. You know I was gonna wait to write this review. Because I responded to that email that no that's not what I wanted and I've been trying to cancel. But they don't respond in a timely matter. Meanwhile you're sitting without that money in your account. $100 is a lot these days. And it's the principal! I'm glad I can come on here to complain. But I tell you the reach that Social Media has is a thousand times better. I am thankful and grateful to have a well numbered reach on Tik tok and IG. I can not wait to tell my experience. If you want to talk to me about your horrid experience like mine please message me below and I will leave my TT handle. People do Not do a free or paid trial with Lasta. You will not be able to cancel during your trial time. If you're already on it for the month or year. And you want to cancel you'd better do it a month in advance. SCAM!

Fraudulent deceptive practises.

Hi, I tried you're supposed alleged LASTA APP 7 day trial for $2.54 CAD!

But two days into the seven day trial, I canceled, deleted, removed AND withdrew from the trial! I said at the app was not useful for me, and didn't even finish your trial even though I didn't mind paying $2.54 to use something for two of seven days.

I didn't finish the trial. So it's obvious, I absolutely would NEVER agree to or sign up for any subscription - why would I when I didn't even finish the trial!

Shockingly you charged me $156 CAD for what you claim is a three month subscription - a three month subscription to what?!?!?!?!

I did not purchase nor agree to nor want any subscription - I didn't even finish your trial.

Additionally - I SCREEN SHOT your list of prices. There is nothing that even costs $156 Canadian on your entire App. Let a lone a three month subscription - which again I did not agree to nor sign up for not want nor needs. BECAUSE I withdrew / cancelled the trial after just 2 days into the 7 day trial.

Yet you charge me $156 for I don't even know what!

AGAIN - I cancelled the trial after two of seven days - I deleted / removed / cancelled withdrew from any & all record of your app and trial. Therefore I would never sign up for any subscription because I didn't even finish the trial!

I have reported you to visa & my bank. You cannot be reported to the App Store because you use a third-party payment processor – pretty clever actually, so there's no record of any subscription on Apple. Sneaky … sneaky AF!
Unless you send me a refund, I'm going to get my bank and visa to collectively force your third-party payment processor "Fast Spring" to refund me. Which will trickle back to you anyway.

People who try to pull deceptive misleading stunts like this are awful - but even though consumers, can't get refunds to Apple - again a very clever trick on your part - VISA & banks are more than powerful enough to take back from you, watch you LITERALLY steal from people - unless you provide the refunds yourself.

Do better. Be better. Where is my refund?
