“This website is amazing”

I've used last.fm since 2015. This is great when you see the evolution of your music preferences, statistics can say really a lot about you and that's how you remember what has happened in October 2016, for instance, your mood and inner state. Also, recommendations work well and help you to discover new bands that you probably will like. Also, there is a lot of information about the bands.

“The decline of a great site.”

On May 30,2007, CBS took over a platform that used to be helpful but has become the opposite. When you report bullying, harassment, or mobs, it gets ignored. If trolls raid you, they say it's your fault. If you contact the staff, they might not respond for months. Even if they do, their answer is a copy-and-paste that doesn't help. When you voice your concerns to the administration, they assure you they take the matter seriously, but because of privacy concerns, they cannot provide you with any updates. That means they won't help you, and you're on your own. They don't help; they neglect, and when problems arise, they claim they aren't responsible for anything that happens on their platform. If you're being harassed or stalked, or if there are spammers, vandalized Wikipedia articles, voting manipulation, trolls, robotic accounts that inflate the charts, or circumvents, the platform won't do anything to stop them. Criminals can do whatever they want, and they're never punished or banned. Even if users report them repeatedly, the administration takes no action. Liftarn was the only moderator I saw who was good. They locked Wikipedia articles to prevent vandalism, but that's the only time I saw a moderator do their job. My friends and I have reported issues, but the team always overlooks them. They say, "Opinions are allowed," but given the biased fandom community, it's pointless to express your opinion when you're not allowed to. The staff is unprofessional, disregarding trolls or violating users. Last. FM is turning into another bland social media site. Mistakes are everywhere, and the support team has no desire to terminate them. Last year, they launched new terms of service that censored many bands who shared the same page. It takes years for an old bug to be fixed, and even if it is, it's done sloppily. A straightforward request takes years to implement. People have been asking for this feature for over ten years, and the team still hasn't implemented it yet. When it takes five years to implement a username change, a basic feature every site has, it tells you enough about how bad they are. Robotic accounts are running rampant on their platform. The same band has been on the No. 1 list for several years. It's rare to see another artist or musician on the charts. BTS is a perfect example of such abuse. People asked the administration to abolish their robotic accounts because they outperformed Mr. Brightside, but they did nothing. They accepted their actions by pinning a screenshot on their official Twitter account. That was despicable. What they did was spit in the face. If you file a complaint and send it to the website, they may label it hostile and threaten to suspend or terminate your account, even if it is constructive. They may also delete or hide your complaint. A moderator locked a thread about this issue and warned the author that they would face consequences if they continued. The community manager says that you can't criticize something unless you've listened to it, which is unfair. That is censorship and dictatorship. Accusations of toxicity and bullying have been made against this community, but the website administration is reluctant to intervene. However, they will act to remove negative comments about certain popular bands if requested by their fans. The website removed numerous features, and the replacement forum has unresolved problems. If you want to discuss music with others, you must create an account on other websites. The mailbox is outdated and frustrating to use. There is no report button for spam or trolling, and it is difficult to keep track of conversations. The community manager censures members if they complain too much, and trolls can post inflammatory comments without consequence. The moderators are unhelpful, and the community manager is biased. Since its launch in 2015, the website has been declining, which has left many people dissatisfied with its current state. Look up pages for popular bands such as Radiohead and Opeth. They are full of toxic comments that show bigotry and misogyny. This is a septic tank. Tags are misused. With all their tags, trolls label many artists and bands. You cannot post a comment or start a discussion with someone without the idiots replying to you and eradicating the conversation you had with someone by writing inane replies. Their community manager is biased, arrogant, intrusive, relentless, and unprofessional. They have an atrocious support team that locks up topics and complaints. Last.FM is no longer a reliable platform to use. The administrators use "community guidelines" to silence and censor users. The website has rules against trolling, spam, robotic accounts, and harassment, which are all illegal, but the support team has stopped banning such accounts. Instead, they ban the users who reported them. The website has deteriorated since the BETA launch in 2015. A user named Samson-91 was banned despite giving reasonable rebuttals to the administrators. According to a troll, false reports led to Samson-91's ban, and the administrators refused to accept his ban appeal. The administrators also violated the GDPR law by denying Samson-91 access to his data. The administrators, including Maddieman, are not qualified to be community administrators. They alienated veterans with their hive-mind censorship. The administrators censor everything they find offensive, which is unfair to the community. The future of Last FM looks bleak while the current administrators are in office. That's another reason why you should avoid it.

Tip for consumers:
I do not recommend you use this site. Stick to Spotify or Wavy. FM. Wavy. FM is a new alternative to the last.FM. It's faster and more stable, and you'll barely have issues tracking your listening habits, unlike on a botched last.FM, where nothing works. The staff members are not friendly. Those who knew how to do their job are long gone.

Artists, bands, music labels, be aware of the facts that this website allows its users to illegally upload your copyrighted music; and your music is generating a lot of revenue for this company through paid subscriptions and high-end ads and google tracking. You might assume that because a page has been set-up already for your band or label that you will be able to make use of the page, making it a place where your fans can leave "shouts" that are comments about your music. And you will probably assume that you'll have complete control over the images which represent you and your albums. You do not have control over much of anything on lastfm.

Not only does this website allow users to constantly troll the "shoutboxes" of band pages, but they also allow users to get away with uploading "fake" images which usually have nothing to do with you or your albums. As a band page owner I am constantly having to report the same violations of supposed "rules" which this company claims to have in place to respect bands/artists. Every time I ask the ones who run this website a question, or every time I attempt to get users banned from uploading "fake" album cover pics, I am always given quick, extremely rude emails in return--telling me that I, basically, have no rights over the page which represents me and my band. On several occasions I've been told that I stand to have my own user name/account banned if I don't stop "spamming".

Lastfm claims that they are happy to work along side of artists to see that the pages representing them are free of lastfm copyright and rules violations. But this company does not honour these statements. The staff are beyond rude and disrespectful towards artists. Lastfm makes a lot of revenue off of artist pages. Contact them a few times about why they don't allow bands to have more options to control their own pages and you'll find out quickly that this website cares nothing about your opinions or concerns. They are aggressively concerned with making large profits from their website. They are not in the business of caring about whom they are making that profit off of. Artists, bands, music labels should, at the very least, be given, by-law, the choice as to whether they want a lastfm page with their name on it. Period.
