First of all, make sure you know exactly how to cancel your membership. They don't make it very clear or easy like Weight Watchers. Once they charge your card they won't refund your money. The recipes are easy but boring. I couldn't eat all the fat (butter, etc). The app is not easy to work with if you want to add your own meal. I have friends that follow other plans and are more pleased such as custom_keto_challenge. You only make one payment and much more affordable and then exchange recipes on instagram. Good luck on your journey.
Do yourself a favor. DON'T THINK THAT ALL THESE BAD REVIEWS ARE FROM PEOPLE THAT JUST DIDNT LOSE WEIGHT. THEY ARE NOT!
I purchased and began the Keto "Sucks" app on 1/1/23 and in 6 weeks have lost 14.7 lbs.
However...
It was from my own research and diet plans created using this fabulous tool called GOOGLE. You can literally Google Keto meals and find hundreds if not thousands of options.
I thought the app was gonna be great, boy I was I suckered into it. It starts with not allowing much flexibility in what you tell it. What I mean is, I am allergic to many types of vegetables and some fruits. When it asks you at set up "what you DON'T like" it gives you little options to rule out anything that could possibly kill you. Then it makes a meal plan and grocery plan for you, but considering you can't rule out allergic ingredients, it just keeps generating more and more meals using foods you cannot eat. When I emailed (3 different times) about this, they would respond saying they had functionality issues etc. They also finally said they adjusted my plan and removed the specific ingredients I said I couldn't eat in the email, then only to literally get meals generated that were: salad, Broccoli salad, salad with Broccoli again, strawberries and more salad...and finally salad. I can eat meat, I actually have pouktry, beef and pork marked as something I like so not sure why it told me to eat salad every meal for a month.
The meal plans are crazy designed. Not sure who makes them up or where they get the measurements from but most of them don't work well based on their measurements. Let me ask, maybe I'm just really stupid...how do you measure a TABLESPOON of chopped white onions? Literally something that should be measured in weight not size. This happens with a lot of the ingredients on this app. Tried to tell them and got a less than helpful response back saying you could change measurements to any desired measurement yourself...and they list by weight as well...(sure, cuz we all have scales that will measure 0.7 ounces etc.) yeah, on stuff you enter yourself, not on pre-made meals by this app. I recommend you go buy a scale if you choose to use this app. Its gonna be helpful.
Other reviewers are correct, when you enter info from something that this site doesn't have in its database or when you scan in something it does, the calculations are not always correct. Example, zero net carb tortilla. Scanned in a brand with 14g total carbs - 14g fiber only to be told it was going to have 5 net carbs. How does that math work now? Is that this "new math"
I keep hearing about? Got an answer from "Christine" saying they have some app issues and are working on it. Here's an idea, don't release the app until you've beta tested it, and know it works.
This app is super generic, very antiquated for something in 2023 and honestly the only thing I use it for is tracking my weight loss. Something that anyone can do with a pencil and paper.
Be warned. It's not worth it if you have likes, dislikes or allergies to any specific type of food or ingredient. It won't be easy for you and you'll be far more frustrated than happy with it.
PS I didn't bother to try for a refund. Why bother when all the other reviews here say how impossible and difficult that is. I'm gonna take the loss and keep using the free stuff you can find on Google. Btw...if you're a tik toker, search for Keto on tik tok. Lots of valuable info and meals there from experienced people that are everyday and average just like you and I. And it's free. Unlike this piece of flaming garbage.
Don't use it. Not worth the money. Do your own research online and you'll be just fine.
Keto Cycle app
I had a really bad experience with purchasing the Keto Cycle app. After purchase (as there is no option to trial) I looked at the recipes and thought they look nice and then went to do the weekly shop with the list provided from the app. At this point I realised that all ingredients are listed in 10g, 120g, 200g etc, including the fresh produce. From previous (vast) experience with dieting apps one medium tomato or 1/4 broccoli florets is usually the way to go and makes shopping much easier, but not in the case of this app. Furthermore, a weekly shop has no consideration for food waste at all in this app. You'd get to use a third of a salad bag or 40g out of a cucumber and then no other recipes would use this product in the next 7 days. I tried to move recipes around myself so I reduce waste for my first week and ended up with same meals most days, which is not what you want on a diet.
Once I realised this, half on hour or so after subscribing to the Keto Cycle app, I tried to cancel it as I was already frustrated and thought this is not sustainable and will end up giving up not only the Keto Cycle app but also the keto diet itself. When cancelling from the website (you can't from the app) you actually cancel the following year of your subscription and there is no option to cancel your current one, as other customer focused services can within 14 days of purchase.
I contacted them to ask to cancel and gave them the explanation above as to why I want a refund as I will not be using the app (again, this was within half an hour of purchasing) and 12h later I got a reply that completely ignored my message that asked me what they can do to improve my experience - well... I just said what and you ignored all of it, the food waste, the option to cancel!
I replied back and asked for cancellation and refund again and not heard back at all.
Went further and used the chat on the app today only to get the same treatment where I was ignored completely until I asked direct and closed questions so that the advisor finally told me they don't do refunds at all, once you bought it that's it!
I told the advisor that I'm frustrated and that I will leave negative reviews on all platforms and they didn't even acknowledge that message, again ignoring me (I never leave bad reviews and I never felt like threatening with bad reviews before and I believe that if they were at least nice about it and understanding I would have given up on the refund, I am here due to the very bad customer experience as I never felt more like talking to myself in my life, not even the amazon chat bot can make me feel this ignored).
Long story short, if you care about customer service and having rights as a consumer then don't buy this app, there are plenty Keto diet plans and apps out there to choose from.
I have never seen a diet service before that didn't care about their customer, the customer reviews and didn't offer a trial or cancellation option, so, this looks like a scam to me (I've been dieting for the past 20 years and I've used plenty diet apps).
For the customer support team that will reply to this review and offer to help me separately: I don't care about your refund anymore. You either promise here and now for all your potential customers to see that you will offer trials and cancellation options or just don't bother to reply to this review!
I am a professional trainer and athlete and have used macronutrient programs in the past.
I am in an advanced 7% body fat shredding program and needed to refine my nutrients to precise food ratios. I put my trust into this program and noticed at the end of day 1 that even though I had prepared and consumed all foods and snacks outlined, my macronutrients home screen still showed unconsumed protein and calories and the carb count also was off.
I spent hours going through meals consumed and each category starting back at zero and adding up to see where the issue was. After each meal and snack was consumed, each respective category was reduced appropriately on the home screen but the math in the program based upon the meals and snacks outlined for my entire day, did not true out to zero.
Keep in mind that I had adjusted my entire caloric meal and training program around this app and was in deep ketosis prior to instilling my faith and confidence in this company and app.
I let the first day go and again the second day continued with the program, eating all outlined meals and snacks but faced the same issue at the end of the day.
I had sent an immediate email to the company day 1 when at the end of the first day, I showed remaining food categories on my home screen that had not been consumed.The companies response; they showed no sense of urgency, no nutritionist available nor techie. They couldn't care less and said to send an email and somebody would get back to me within 24 hours.
Did they even realize and care that I had put my program and faith into the app which was failing while every grain of food being consumed impacted my ketone levels?
On my third day, prior to beginning any food consumption, I went to the outlined foods prepared consisting of proteins carbs and calories and went through each individual meal and snack and added up each category to see if they would equal the recommended beginning amounts of each nutrient prior to preparing and consuming. Sure enough, my daily protein recommendations were over 42g short along with other errors found.
This while never hearing from Customer Service nor a tech person or a nutritionist, even tough I had called multiple times EACH DAY stating that I had found a bug in their program while destroying my ketone levels and putting me back to ground zero.
Yesterday I canceled my subscription out of pure frustration and as a result, forced back into a one and a half day fast to shift the body slowly back into ketosis.
This is the response received today by Karolis from the company, days after they received calls from me, begging for a nutritionist or tech person to call since my food plan was being destroyed and nobody would help show an understanding of this serious problem with the program.
Customer support acted as if I ordered a pair of gloves and told me they were going to be there in a few days instead of taking responsibility that they're dealing with somebody's health and if there's an issue should have responded immediately.
***This is a quote from their response today:***
"However, the countdown function in your app is working incorrectly. Please don't use it as a guide for how many calories, fat, proteins, and carbs you have to consume daily. Our team is currently working to fix the issues."
If I cared to, I would sue the company since I am in an extreme lifting shredding and building program that is extremely scientific with a time schedule for which this app that I laid my progress upon, has destroyed the first 2 1/2 weeks.
Everybody stay away and don't put your health in the hands of this inferior company, customer service and product.
