I have loved J. Peterman since its debut... I have purchased everything from classic items of clothing to loungewear to charming items for the home. The script is original and utterly charming. I have always wanted to go to its brick and mortar store in Kentucky... not sure if it still exists. In essence. A wonderful and original catalog of treasures for the discriminating shopper. Love it!
I called customer service and a nasty operator said they couldn't give the discount after receipt of goods. I advised I had texted them before placing my online order due to the pop up discount not being credited and I was assured it would be. This company once cared about the customer. Next time I'll order from one of the dozens of retailers who are pleasant and offer quality service. What a disappointment from a company that was once a pleasure to deal with.

I've purchased several lovely items from this company over the years, and the quality and uniqueness is great, but after years of loyal custom, I received an item whose inner packaging was glued to the outer packaging, resulting in damage upon opening. When I contacted customer service, they refused an exchange in spite of the matter being their fault. Didn't matter that I'd spent a significant sum with them over the years, or that the cheap packaging was to blame. DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY since they abandon good customers with a cookie cuter policy.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid buying from this inflexible and inconsiderate seller

none, they were damaged due to shoddy packaging

I ordered about 7 items 5 weeks ago, $330.55. Numerous calls have resulted in nothing. Every call is a different excuse, but the bottom line is they will neither ship nor credit back my card. I am now disputing the charge with the bank who issued the card. I am on an extended hold with Peterman now, waiting for a supervisor. I expect no one will even answer, and just wish I had checked them out here before I bought.

I never received anything.
I have an order that they keep telling me has been expedited. After a few calls to their support number, which sounds like it's run from a college dorm or bar, I've been told three different stories.
1. My card was entered wrong. - This wasn't going to float because I can see the charge
2. Their "System" was down.
3. Things usually take about a week.
This was a digital order of a gift card. If you can't process that in a less than a week then why would anyone ever have an expectation of receiving clothing?
Tip for consumers:
Don't use J. Peterman Company. I doubt they will be in business much longer.

I bought a gift card to another clothing company and called it a day.
This is THE WORST online retailer around. Its product descriptions and photos are inadequate. If, for instance, you want to know the inseam of a pair of trousers, forget it. They don't know! And returns are impossible. After waiting a month and being put off by its customer service representatives, I finally resorted to filing a dispute with Visa.

Nothing fit because they couldn't provide me with inseam information. So I sent everything back
Bought a flannel sleep shirt years ago. Size xl. Most warm thick soft sleep shirt ever! Bought a back up in a different color and this time got a larger size - xxl. What I received was super thin and scratchy. And was much smaller than the xl I had bought years ago. The sleeves are short and don't even touch my wrists. I'm only 5'7 and 150 lbs. the xxl should be huge on me compared to my old one. The damn thing was over $100 and was junk! I was gonna return but was told by their customer service that it would be a minimum of 30 days from when they received back before refund would be processed. And I would be charged return shipping and restock fee. Will never purchase anything again from JPeterman.
I paid almost $1000 for an Editor's Bag as a gift for a dear friend. My friend was stuck overseas due to covid but when I finally managed to give it to him, he used it for a week and the strap came off the bag and one of the main front clips broke! Not a surprise. Beautiful leather but shoddy cheap workmanship when you saw how little sewing and reinforcements were incorporated into the make. So disappointing. And because this was after 90 days purchase, all JP's offered was a 30% discount on my next purchase. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I BUY SOMETHING ELSE FROM THEM?!?
Tip for consumers:
Don't believe what you see and note that they do not stand behind what they sell you. If there is a problem, if on something as pricey as a $1000 bag, you are on your own.
I gave two stars because the clothing showing in the catalogue are not the same. It has much less fabric, the fit is very poor, and must if the time I have to take to my seamstress. What you get is a poor copy of what the catalogue shows. It's a shame that the design is not fateful to his drawings. But although is much simpler, it's very well made.
Tip for consumers:
Make the clothing the dames as shown on catalogue please

Bought a mens shirt, which was quite expensive. The buttons on this shirt were very thin, and of poor quality. After the first wash, two buttons came apart. After every subsequent wash buttons broke. Call J Peterman co., spoke with Chelsea and asked if they would send replacement buttons. They told me none available. Asked for a replacement shirt, none available. Ask for any mens long sleeve shirt as a replacement. They told me they couldn't do that either. I would never buy from this co. Again!

I ordered a dress on sale, when I placed the order it did not say final sale. The dress was cheaply constructed not like the JPeterman of years ago. I wanted to return it. He said NO. I asked to do an even exchange or gift card again no, so sorry he said. This was a cheap dress not at all like the photo on- line. You could get a better dress at Walmart!
Buyer beware!

I'd give -0- stars if possible. How do you advertise a 24-hour sale at 6 PM at night? These people are jokers, their customer service has gone straight downhill.
Tip for consumers:
Customer service stinks

Not applicable because they advertised a 24-hour sale at 6PM at night!
I was a 25 year customer and had a dispute about false advertising. They sold a shirt as Madras Shirt when it is not, Madras being commonly known as the fabric. They were referring to the location in India, ha ha, but that Madras is pronounced mah draws. Everyone I spoke to pronounced the shirt Madras.
They understood my issue but would not take the shirts back because they had been washed.
About 20+ years ago, I bought a red flannel nightshirt. It was soft, thick flannel. It is still a pleasure to wear. I purchased one 2 weeks ago. I am so disappointed. The flannel isn't brushed and I can see through the fabric when held up to the light. I am so disappointed in the lack of quality. This garment might have been worth it at 15 dollars. I purchased a flannel nightgown from another company for almost half the price. The flannel is lush, soft and thick. Just as this should have been. My biggest regret, I didn't look for reviews before wasting a lot of money. Life lesson there.
Tip for consumers:
I am beyond disappointed in the garment. My life lesson, do your research. Even on a company you previously purchased from before. I would have never guessed I would have paid over 100 dollars for a thin, scratchy nightshirt.

I was charged $224 for a product that was "in stock" but never shipped. After weeks of waiting for it being on "backorder" I cancelled the order. Now two weeks later I am still waiting for my refund. I was told it can take up to 30 days to receive a refund. I am not sure i will ever be refunded - and i never received a product. The sheer indifference of customer service was maddening. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY FROM THEM..
Tip for consumers:
Beware - they claim it takes 30 days for a refund.l - even for a backordered product they NEVER SHIPPED!

Awful, just awful. J. Peterman has gone down the drain! So far it has taken 3 shipments and about an hour of waiting to talk to the correct person to get an order corrected (all this after waiting a month). No-one seems to care.
Highly doubt I'll be using them again.
I ordered some shirts for my husband. When they wetre late, I spent 5 hours on 3 different days calling to check on the order. I never got through to talk to anyone, even being on the phone 45 minutes at a time. They refer you to a live chat which I did 3 times but over the 3 days no one was" avaliable" or ever called me back. Similar to overseas companies where your orders disappear, giving you no way to contact them
I believe I ordered from the site a long time ago, and it was okay. But my recent experience was pretty negative. I ordered two women's V-neck "t-shirts" in a medium, which is what I usually wear, that looked great in the catalog $35 each). When they arrived, I found they were very tight. The material was okay, so I returned them for larges. It took a long time and I finally wrote to them. Eventually the replacements showed up and THEY were too tight. Indeed, holding them up to a comfortably loose dressy medium t-shirt I have, my medium shirt is wider. I gave up at that point. Maybe if I lose weight I can wear them, or I'll give them to someone. If you decide to order, get at least one size larger in this item, unless you want a really snug fit. I can get something just as nice for less somewhere else without the hassle.

J petermen used Covid as an excuse not to honor any returns made to their company I had just sent 800.00 in return. Never heard from them again-- have asked off of their mailing list
CONGRATS - The J Peterman Company has created the worlds DUMBEST GIFT BOX POLICY EVER! This company has the most IDIOTIC and WASTEFUL gift box policy in the entire universe of STUPID. Let me explain. My Dad ordered a 3.5 ounce bottle of cologne. It arrived via FedEx on one day. And it was a in a box that could hold a coffee mug. The next day, I received a box that was over 19 inches long by 12 inches by 3 inches, that contained another box of similar proportions and some tissue paper and a catalogue and return sheet sent via FedEx as well. I literally thought the insides were stolen - NOPE. When you buy a gift for someone they have only one size gift box that they send separately with no basic gift note. Not only did this make me fear I had been a victim of holiday theft (I called and reported it to local police), but it is extremely wasteful, extremely inefficient cost wise. Who ever runs your logistic department should be fired for 3 separate and distinct business failures. 1. inexcusable and gross logistical cost that could be drastically reduced with basic common sense shipping and distribution method 2. Gross negative impact to carbon footprint and waste of resources and most importantly 3. The impact a poorly packaged and empty box with no indication of this absurd policy has to a recipient *** We all know the feeling of opening a gift - I was so excited to see what I got - only to have a let down the the contents were empty. --WOW. And customer service already has a boiler plate response so you know I am not the first to raise this issue. JUST WOW.
Their copy ends up having more filler than fact. And their quirky drawings are no replacement for clear photographs. Adding to that, their prices are a bit too high,
