I was looking for a pair or matching Lab created diamonds, preferably yellow ones. I've bought diamonds online before, but not from James Allen. After much research, I was shocked that James Allen had exactly what I was looking for and at an amazing price. I purchased a pair of Fancy Intense Yellow Pear-shaped diamonds that total just under 1 carat. Ordering was easy, I was kept informed at each step of the process and received them by FedEx today. They were perfectly packed. Each stone arrived in a gorgeous red lacquer presentation box, all documentation was included, and they sent along a tool that is used to handle each stone. I was impressed with the effort and expense that obviously went into packing these 2 small diamonds, and extremely impressed by how little I paid.

I purchased a wedding band and engagement ring with a D, VS1 cushion cut diamond. The diamond had 2 obvious shadows in the center of the diamond that looked like eyeballs. I exchanged the diamond for another D, VS1 and this diamond was worse then the first with 4 large shadows around the edges of the diamond. It looks terrible. I tried to find a replacement in the 30 days that I thought would be better but I couldn't find anything. One day outside of my 30 day exchange I emailed and asked if there were anything I could do as I was extremely unhappy with my purchase and was told that my diamond was beautiful and it was only shadows from the setting (the first diamond didn't look as bad and had shadows in different areas) and I could upgrade if I spent double the cost or I could sell it to a jewelry broker. LOLOL I'll never buy another product from James Allen. I will more than likely be stuck with this UGLY diamond that looks like it has huge flaws.

Overall it's been a bad experience with this company. They will be quick to take your payment while advertising fast turnaround and fast shipment but you can expect your order to be stuck in limbo for weeks.

Communication is bad and people on the phone are short and not very concerned with what you have to say. The female I spoke to actually laughed when I said I would be posting a review. They will tell you a shipment date when you order but you probably won't be getting your purchase anywhere close to that date.

I was told that just the inspection process can take weeks to complete and was told that this was due to the weather. The weather?

Either way, I suggest taking your business elsewhere. I may be canceling my purchase and looking into legal options as I spent several thousand dollars with them only to be given the runaround.

Another note, I wouldn't waste your time with their financing. They use TD card services who are even more uninterested in customer service, they don't even answer the phone. I waited over an hour one day and just gave up. You can look this company up online and they have nothing but bad reviews.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use their in house financing also look at other places that sell jewelry.

James Allen is a rip-off I had purchased my wife a infinity ring to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and I was trying to Surprise her so I used there paper ring Sizer I did my best to match up to her other rings still Concerned so I called James Allen customer service # and they Reassured me that not to worry because they have free ring size Exchange.
Well when I gave the ring my wife said she Loves it but it's to big I sed no problem James Allen will Exchange it for the right size plus it's not like we needed a bigger size and would need more gold and diamond's but then covid hit and got no Response back and when I finally got some one they told me on infinity rings they do not exchange so now we are with a ring that doesn't fit I will NEVER USE JAMES ALLEN AGAIN SO THANKS JAMES ALLEN FOR NOTHING.

Use your local Jeweler.

Nothing but issues from the start, the greatest of which was them shipping two days early without notifying me that it had shipped. No tracking number. A stranger signed for it and it was left out front! It could have been stolen or worse she could have found it and ruined something I would not get a second chance for.

The issue to date has been met with no more than disinterested platitudes and a reminder they have a 30-day return policy.

My recommendation is to look elsewhere and build a relationship with a traditional brick and mortar.

I'm frustrated with J/A 's refund, it is total disaster experience to us and here is why. I purchased an expensive ring and returned it, J/A signed and received them on March 8th. Before I bought the ring, their agent explained and their website state that "All refund will be process within 2 weeks in form of the org purchase method. Bank wires will be refunded via company check",
So I assumed March 22nd. I called on March 15th JA confirmed that all my returned items were in satisfactory condition, all good their end. They said they need my bank details, same day I received confirmation email about the refund - credit card refund within 3days and ACH refund within 2weeks. But now 2 weeks from March 15th and NOT 2 weeks from March 8th. I received smaller partial refund within 3 days(credit card). I made multiple calls to concern why JA take to long to refund ACH why JA hold our money? Usually ACH take 3-5 days. Their managers Tia, Mellisa, their acctg team blame bank system ACH takes 2 weeks blah blah blah. On March 29 I saw nothing, no money was refund. I called J/A, I'm told JA is working on it. March 30th J/A called and said they just initiated an ACH transfer TODAY (not a wire transfer), and I said when will I have available fund? Manager said should be next day.? I am totally confused? Which mean they all LIE from previous calls about refund was issued on March 15 through ACH. Now I am worried and dont know when I will get my money back. They could lie again.
I have to sell stocks to fund my credit card bill on April 4th.
I've wasted 10+ hours on this, did I mention James Allen wait times, hold times and dropped calls and waiting to talk to managers and accounting. James Allen want me to wire them money, same day but take 3+ weeks and counting to return funds. If you're super rich and don't need a large sum of money for a week than ignore this, if you live in the real world, think several times before believing JA refund policy.
