This site is interesting as I'm not sure how much of what they do is as a middleman. Everything arrived on time, but in different shipments. The personalized Christmas ornament that really impressed me was from Nancy DeYong Studio Inc (Normal, Ill). I had just rescured a new pup and I never expected to have the ornament in time for the holidays, but I would be happy if it arrived shortly after Christmas but before I took my tree down. This little dog needed a home, and I needed a new companion. The ornaments for all my previous dogs were prominent on my tree. Ms. DeYoung's beautiful hand decorated ornament arrived Christmas eve and brought tears to my eyes. I quickly sent her a personal "thank you" e-mail. I applaude In The Company of Dogs for having wonderful suppliers. Everything else arrived prior to Christmas eve.

Order finally came 2 months late. Not as pictured. Website says to return something use their fedex delivery with prepaid label. Yet there is no way to get one. Called customer service multiple times. Finally got someone who said they have requested a return label and it will be sent to me in 10 days. I asked why they couldn't just email it. She said, ok. What is your email. I said, You don't have it with my order information? She found it. Now it's a wait and see.

I purchased a Matt for my dog over a month ago. It came and the smell was so bad I could not keep it in my. Home in the box.This is the second product I purchased from them that smelled like chemicals.
The other was a dog car seat. Very poor quality and unsafe design.
The customer service is terrible. I had to call sales to get help not the return department.

I would not recommend purchasing from this company.

I received a damaged item and wanted a postage paid label to return it. Called customer service twice. Must be outsourced. First person didn't understand English, the second one told me I'd get the label and I'm still waiting. She wanted me to pay for the postage and then send in the receipt for reimbursement? Never ordering from here again.

I ordered a gift for father's day and paid extra for next day shipping. After waiting five days I got an email stating my package would be here in another week! Customer service was COMPLETELY useless. Do not waste your time or money on this terrible company!

In the Company of Dogs always looked like a high-end reputable retailer for pet products. I've been receiving their catalog for many years, maybe I have ordered something, I don't know. The item I just received was such low quality, and their sizing was way off. When I went to return it I learn that I have to pay for the shipping to return it even though it was their error. I really want to support smaller businesses, but when their quality and service is non-competitive, I'm just not going to do it. I should add...I've only received one of the three items I ordered. Still waiting weeks for the other two.

Tip for consumers:
If there is the slimmest possibility you might return it, then don't go with them. I would say there is no harm in using them for something small and you probably won't return, but I'm still waiting weeks for the rest of my order.

I bought an expensive dog cage because of a rebate offered which covered shipping and was 20% of the cost totaling $361.00. I had to provide a ridiculous amount of documentation and submit on their portal. I called one month after submitting documentation and was told it was in the review phase. I followed up a month later and was told that the rebate had expired and they had no record of my submission. These are dishonest and unscrupulous people. Do not waste your timer and effort.

I placed an order for a memorial Christmas ornament prior to Thanksgiving. On 12/09/20, I received an order for someone else for Sanibel Island. I notified In The Company of Dogs on 12/10/20 and was told by a representative that they would expedite the order so I should have it by Christmas. On 12/15/20, after not hearing anything, I called them again. I was then told it couldn't be expedited and it would take 3-4 weeks (placing delivery sometime around 1/10/21). I was transferred approx. 5 times, each time talking to someone that seemed to be at the same level. The only thing that increased was their indifference. It just was bad service and they did not seem to care about it. Take your business elsewhere because if anything goes wrong, you're on your own.

I placed an order for a lighted Christmas wire Dog. Order #L*******. The site cancelled the order as it was not available. However, somewhere in the original order process they signed me up for their REWARDS program. I did not intend to do this and the program was never used. They charged my CC $21.90 per month for their rewards program. While they have a 100% guarantee on their site and a no questions asked refund policy, upon initial request they refused to refund the two charges of $21.90 for two months of service I did not intend to purchase and did not use.

My product ordered while showing on the website as available, although was later declared as unavailable. But, their trick to have me enrolled in their REWARDS program for $21.90 per MONTH still occurred. Thus far they have refused to refund the two monthly charges despite having a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I did not use their REWARDS program and received no benefits. To be enrolled in this program when I do not recall any fee being associated with the program, causes me to believe this is a DECEITFUL site.

There's a reason this company has over 100 reviews and they are rated as 1 star. They are extremely dishonest, particularly about how they trick people into signing up for their "club" at $15 a month. They offer you a shipping rebate and 10% off when you place your order, but the very fine print says you are joining their "club" for $15/month. And if you read other reviews for this company you will see I'm not the only that fell for this little ruse. At a minimum, they should know people are signing up for this by accident and change their site to make it more clear. The fact that they dont do that validates my assertion that they're doing it on purpose.

Placed an order in July 2021, with on indication that the item was backordered. Over a month later, finally was informed that it was on backorder, at which point I requested that it be canceled... but they subsequently tell me that it has already drop shipped from the manufacturer. Clearly not true, because two weeks LATER, still no shipment, and another week after that, I a second email telling me that the item was still on backorder and that I could cancel it! The next day? Shipped! So after 2 months, I finally have an item that I don't want. I request a return, they tell me that's fine, so I return it. A week after they've received it, still no refund. I call and they tell me it will take 4-6 WEEKS to get my refund! Moreover, they're not giving me a run around about the substantial ($60) return costs, which I think they should clearly pay at this point!

NEVER EVER EVER will I purchase through this company. While all of this was happening, I ordered a nearly identical product from Amazon, got it in 2 days. Should have done that in the first place.

Do not order anything from this company. They slip in a FREE 30 day VIP account with your order and if you don't cancel it within that time, they start charging you $18.18 per month, every month, on your credit card until you cancel it. BUYER BEWARE!

I will never order from this company again as they trick you into signing up for a subscription for free shipping for $15 dollars a month. They offer free shipping when you place your order, but the very fine print says you are joining their "club" for $15/month. They know most people will click on free shipping and not be aware they are signing up for a monthly fee. They had been charging $15 on my card every month for a while and I never got an email from them about any renewals or what exactly I was getting from them for being in their VIP club. Its a scam and they are purposely deceiving people.

I read the reviews. I should have known better. Ordered an XL dog bed. Received an XL cover and a L insert. Told customer service agent to replace it all with a L bed. She did not send me a return shipping label. Instead, I was not charged an additional $19 shipping for the replacement. However, I had to pay nearly $60 to return the original items. The replacement I received was also incorrect. Exact same problem. I called again today to have it corrected. After 2 phone calls, an additional replacement has been ordered and I've been told a return shipping label will be sent to me. However, the price I'm being charged for the L is more than I paid for the XL in December because the bed is no longer on sale - even though their mistakes are the reason this issue has had to be resolved after the sale ended. I've been given different information regarding the order, the shipping, and the refund by 3 different customer service reps. No one would even look into the price discrepancy. And, all the customer service gave me contradicts almost all the information I've received in emails. I'm not holding my breath for this new replacement order to be correct. I cannot imagine any circumstance under which I would purchase anything from this company again.

I put in an order for $953 and was told that I'd get $162 rebate if I joined the VIP program... which I did.
I KNEW it would be difficult to negotiate all the roadblocks and indeed instructions didn't come on how to redeem the rebate until 3 to 4 weeks after the purchase. I CAREFULLY followed all instructions, EVERY DETAIL (must have date and tax and item description etc etc) and the receipt I was sent online... and MONTHS LATER I finally call and say "where's the rebate" - They check and noted that it was declined "due to lack of information" but they didn't say what (operator on the phone didn't know). I logged and and checked and the same thing - no indication of why it was decline or what was missing. I assure you I followed the instructions to the Tee and double-checked everything. I mean, what else would you need to submit besides the receipt showing date, items, tax total prices etc etc? It was a disingenuous offer to Join VIP - so INSTEAD OF SAVING MONEY, IT COST ME YET MORE TO COMPLETE MY ORDER (due to the VIP membership fee) - DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!

I wanted to buy couch covers and was torn between a few. I have a sectional couch and wasn't sure if I should buy two or 1 large made for a sectional. I called on three separate occasions and asked questions. I was directed toward buying the full size sectional cover. HUGE MISTAKE! It is a complete nightmare and very difficult to manage. To begin with getting it on properly is nearly impossible, and then it continually slides down and it's more work than it's worth. I called after several attempts at using it and was continually put off. No assistance or refund or replacement was offered. This company is overpriced, the quality is marginal at best, and that's assuming the product works. I would have gladly switched to two separate covers but was only offered for purchase at full price. The customer service reps have zero knowledge on the items and are a complete waste of time. Please spend your money on a company that deserves it. This company is as good as thieves.

Customer service DID NOT live up to In the Company of Dogs' satisfaction guarantee! If only they would put the same effort into their order tracking and customer service office as they do with curating and marketing their charming catalog! Upon placing my order I received an email that the dog bed I ordered had shipped UPS Next Day and a tracking number. The link to UPS tracking returned a page saying that the tracking # was invalid. After a week, I sent 2 email inquiries to Customer Service. No response. Finally I reached a very defensive CS agent by phone. She offered no apology. On reflection, she probably is exhausted fielding many many calls like mine, some no doubt a lot less calm and patient than I was. She tried to blame the 3rd party vendor for fulfillment delays due to COVID. I pointed out that her vendor claimed to have shipped. Because I insisted, she dug in and found out the shipper was NOT UPS, but actually FedEx, and Ground, not Next Day. When she asked (again) if there was anything else she could do for me, I asked her to pass on the issue of emailing me wrong shipper, wrong link to tracking & leading me to expect a next day delivery. She refused "because the call was being recorded." Meanwhile, I received daily and sometimes twice daily marketing emails, much of that time while still wondering where my order was! Today's email asking for a review was the last straw. Love the catalog, but will NOT order again!

My elderly mother ordered a personalized Christmas ornament for her dog on 10//14/20. They sent her an email stating it had shipped on the 26th. When it didn't show up by 11/13/20, she started calling their customer service. No one knew where it was, but said it shipped 10/26/20. Then on 11/16/20 she got a call from their customer service asking her what color she wanted it. Several calls later we called on a Saturday and the rep said "We only have limited information. You will have to call during the week to talk to someone in America." It is now 12/16/20 and the company just called my mother to ask her what color she wanted (again).

Es una de las peores compras que hice. La ropa se ve bien en la pagina y en el catalogo pero cuando te llega es horrible calidad y la confeccion es lo mas espantoso que he visto. Por ende quise devolverlo pero me sorprendi cuando el servicio al cliente me dijo, la politica es pagar el shipping y tambien pagar las devoluciones. Si esto no es una estafa no se como llamarlo. Se supone que uno puede equivocarse en el size pero no, el problema es la confeccion las shirt son con forma de cucurucho o cone un horror. No definitivamente NO LO RECOMIENDO, NO COMPREN ACA realemnte son unos estafadores.

The worst experience ordering. Online is nonfunctional. Tried to place an order and it wouldn't go into shopping cart despite my choosing color of item and size. Kept saying make your selection. Did that many times with no luck. Calling in order took forever. 1st person disconnected us. 2nd call the Sales associate trying to sell other products despite my reiterating no thank you, I need 1 collar only. Then proceeds to give me a sales pitch about becoming a vip member. Again, no thank you. Am in a rush and this has taken too long. Finally after telling her to stop selling and finish my order and that I will have to hang up if she continues pressuring me, she's still going on. All my order had been completed and credit card info given but had to cut her off by hanging up. Get an email stating here's your order# but there's no order. Canceled catalogs. Never shop there again! One star rating because 0 wasn't an option!

I ordered Animals Matter Companion Oversized car seat for Christmas for my 2 Shih Tzus. After a couple weeks I hadn't received any email information about my order so I reordered it. I finally received my order a few weeks later and was delighted! A week later I received an identical order and I followed the instructions included to return it. My husband took it to UPS and they wanted $96 postage, so he brought it back home. He then took it to our local post office and they too wanted $96 postage! And was told that because of the size of the box, they charge according to how much room the box takes on a truck for shipping. Having no use for 2 car seats, he paid the postage and returned the item. I contacted In the Company of Dogs customer service and was told they do not refund postage for anything returned. I'm 73 yr. Old and on a fixed income and $96 is a great deal of money to pay to return an item. I have ordered from them in the past and was very satisfied, but in the future I will order from Amazon, as they do not charge postage for returns and items can be returned locally.

Tip for consumers:
The return postage was $96.80 and the company would not reimburse me for the return postage.

First and for most my biggest mistake was not reading the reviews about "In the Company of Dogs" before I made my purchase. My first purchase was a dog bed for my 70lb Retriever. The bed in the catalog stated the bed to be 46" square by 20" high and would acommendate up a 100lb. Pet, I figured this would be great, thinking that by the time he used the bed for awhile it would settle down to a comfortable bed and the size would be just right for him, wrong! When I received the bed it stated to unpack and let it expand for 24-48 hours before using, so I did. Well 48 hours came and went, then another 48 hours came and went And another 48 hours, finally I gave in, put it together and gave to my pet ( never reached the 20" they said it would-not even 12") and the more the dog used it the flatter it became. So I called customer service and was told a prepaid label would be sent to mail it back, so I waited and waited and finally contacted a sales person who stated that they don't issue prepaid labels so I would have to ship it back at my expense ( $65.00 cheapest way!). So here I am $229.00 +65.00=$294.00 for a bed. So I ordered a different bed that I was told would be better (same dimensions as the other bed). So I get this bed go thru the same process of letting it expand as the other bed, seams to be a bit better than the other bed-not much more, oh and had to pay for shipping, so instead of a $200.00 bed I now own a $300.00 defective bed. Now I want to clue all you people in thinking that oh that company can't be all that bad, well what did I do I decided that I was going to buy my dog a new collar with his name and phone number on it so if he lost his tags and he got away he would have the information for someone to call, I mean how can you screw up a collar, right? Ordered a navy blue collar with sky blue printing on it Well received it today Navy Blue collar wait for it With WHITE that's right WHITE lettering and the order in the box reads SKY BLUE. That's it no more. Will contact my credit card company and let them handle it, I'm done. BUYERS BEWARE. Twice bitten!

Do not buy from The Company of Dogs. The customer service is as close to "none" as can be found. I tried to return some items and although my payment was accepted and was told upon the receipt of returned items, I would have to wait five to six weeks to get a refund. That is unacceptable. I could find no help. I kept the items because I though I could end up without my money and without the items I paid for. I would never buy from them again.

I had a poor experience with In the Company of Dogs years ago. I ordered an item, it didn't come for weeks and weeks, and eventually I called and cancelled the order. I decided to give them another try as they had an item I wanted. I ordered in early December 2017 and asked about shipping times; I was told 5 to 10 business days. After 10 business days had gone by, I called and was told the item was backordered. I then cancelled the order. I never received a confirmation of the order on email until on Sunday, 31 December, I received a shipping notice! The people who take the orders and who were supposed to cancel this order seem to live in another universe, one where simple information is not supplied and requests are not followed. There has to be a better place to order dog supplies.

Don't EVER buy anything from these people! Unless, you enjoy mayhem. They are rude, uncaring, disorganized, rude, incompetent and just plain ridiculous! They are hideously rude on the phone. I ordered months ago. They don't send tracking info. Their shipping is the slowest known to man. You could drive across country several times before your package will arrive... AFTER it is shipped! They sent wrong sizes, told me products were out of stock forever and the shipped the same item... awful. Crazy. There is no integrity within the ranks of the humans working there. Go buy somewhere else!

They were charging my elderly mother $14.95 a month for about a year for some sort of "VIP" membership. I just noticed the same charge on her last two statements. My mother never received anything for the monthly charge. This company is nothing but a major scam, preying on elderly people!
