Imvu is actually a virtual reality game and still best by far compared to others. Use of avatars is biggest attraction, along with poses and access pass. The game can become addictive. What wasn't good is shortly after imvu put ads all over the internet saying it's a dress-up-game for adults, people have mistaked it for actual dating or love connection place. Imvu tried to divert such inappropriate misuse to places like zoosk.com and meetme.com.
Dark side of imvu is any who join can end up with a bad staff worker. Depending on the time during day or night when account is created. It is these bad workers that have caused a number of injustices upon clients. So many complaints about imvu is soley due to these who have over stepped their positions.
Imvu has unsuccessfully tried to dispel any notion that workers go among the community as a member. Evidence that proves some do go among the community is with fake accounts, showing real photos of people, they have stolen from other sites. Other give away of worker trying to pass off as another member is the use of 6 digit numbers after the avatar name. More evidence, is if you see a member appear to be on all the time. Including if they drop out of chat unexpectedly (for no apparent reason); including go on brb for a long time. It is cause they are hiding from getting caught, wrongly mingling with members, while on the job. Another thing to watch is those who can afford dressing up everyday on feed, as if they have endless amounts of credits. Not even professional developers will splurg out of control on a daily basis like that.
If you wonder whether a worker ever goes on your account, you'll know they have when you experience delays of any kind when logging into website or trying to get onto chat. There are still other traces left behind of staff worker or some one who's gotten on your account. While in chat mode, any extra saved outfit of your default one is proof some body has been on your chat. While still in chat mode if you see within friends, under recent chats, of others you never even met, is another dead give away.
Bad workers will make it difficult to ever get a deleted acount back. They won't put their name down when claiming you didn't pass age verification. Even when you know you did. It's really not safe or confidental for imvu to ask for any proof of personal ID just to prove your of legal adult age. Wrongly accepting use of credit cards to prove your mature age, when kids can use them. Getting access pass should be put on a specially made prepaid card made for such. Which would require proof of being adult upon purchase. I would discourage anyone from doing age verification just to get access pass, as there's no telling what kind of person your dealing with. No matter what work position a person is in, doesn't necessarily mean they can be trusted from hacking, stalking and dishonesty. They can be everything from abusers, serial killers and human trafficking supporter. This includes all those you meet on imvu. My advise is to be imvu only. No matter how convincing some one might be don't believe a word. Believe it or not some bad workers will go among the community as a member to break specials & married people up. They'll even use other extra avs to come at back you. Dishonest means of tricking you into thinking they're some body else.
Bad workers will even empty your bank account of everything, if you use any form of credit. Stay safe by either using prepaid cards or send money order for in-game purchases. Don't buy unreliable family dollar prepaid cards, as they won't work on imvu.
Anymore you can't trust new members to be such, as those out to steal your account will make extra accounts to get on your friendslist to do such. Workers who don't like you will try to find some means to make you to lose your account. Including clicking on links that will supposedly give you many free credits. False accusations of feed screenshot being a violation. Best thing to do is follow those you like to keep in touch and place no one on your friends list. Open your chat screen to anyone, when you want to see them. If your chat lags badly or freezes, instantly shut down your computer, laptop or cellphone to prevent stealing of your account. Those remain unusually quiet for a long time (never saying a word) can't be trusted during chat mode.
What doesn't help is the hired creators who keep changing apps on everything, just to keep their payroll going. Rather than really coming up with things everyone would like. Imvu should hire outside help to do what their own creators fail. One of the worse changes the creators did is connect cellular app to the website. Starting with changing Stream to Feed. Imvu creators recent unfavorable changes is desktop and create app. Desktop app that suppose to possibly replace classic client don't work. The new create mode is only easy for programers.
Contests on imvu are often misleading, by putting out rules that imvu don't adhere to themself. Entries that you know should of won don't. Instead, the lesser ones at the bottom are always chosen to win. Don't enter any contest awards VIP or start buying into it. Cause once duration use of it is up, you'll lose your only available public room. Don't become a developer under purchase of VIP, as it's another waste, you'll regret later. Once again, if you don't keep purchasing VIP you'll lose your developer privileges and all you put into shop to be sold, will be removed.
