Top Critical Review

“Extremely poor provider.”

Contacting ID mobile is nearly impossible. When you finally talk to a robot it just repeats itself with wrong information. Very poor signal throughout the UK. They would not let me keep my old number as 3 different pac codes would not work. Cannot cancel the contract without paying 23 months bills upfront. Absolute wankers. Do not switch to them.

Great pricing but it comes with a down side. Absolutely no mobile internet coverage pretty much anywhere. I travel across England for work, no matter where I am the mobile internet is utterly useless.
You cannot even use google maps to navigate while walking. Even in central London and Birmingham. The phone tells me I have full signal on 4G which suggests they are severely limiting bandwidth. And a nice 7.8% price increase from today. No happy avoid at all costs!

I have tried iD mobile now for a few months. Here's my conclusions...

ID operates on the Three network. The service has been okay and I haven't had any data or speed problems. Everything seems to work as it should. The coverage is not bad and I've only found a couple of places where there is no service. Pricing is good and you get better offers the longer you stay with them.

The annoyances... I make loads of international calls. Every time I make an international call, I get a text message saying international calls aren't included in my plan. After making hundreds of international calls, I think it's safe to say I don't need to be reminded every time like a five year old child. Needless to say, there is no way to turn this "feature" off.
Customer service is basically non existent. There is no one to call if you have a problem. They only have an online chat, which is useless. Sometimes you'll wait for hours before someone bothers to answer you. There is NOTHING that can replace a live person with whom to speak if there is a problem... like the insulting text messages every time I make an international call.
My thoughts? If you don't need any customer service, then this is the mobile service for you. As for me, if you can't provide even basic customer service, then you don't want my money and you won't get it.

Tip for consumers:
Prices are good, service is good, customer service doesn't exist. If you have a problem, then good luck sorting it.

I purchased a SIM only deal for £10 a month. it includes unlimited UK calls and texts with 30GB of data. Unused data rolls over to the following month.

3 are such a big company these days that the only way to get access to some decidedly unsavoury and old Skool ways of. Usiness whilst accessing new and very profitable customers is to have a "side" company. Along comes I. D Mobile owned by Carphone Warehouse but on 3's network. I was initially impressed with the deals on offer, but like everything else, the devil's in the detail. After getting my mifi dongle from them in quick time I attempted to register myself with I. D to monitor where I was with my 20gig of data. Initially I tried the app which was a waste of time. A point not lost on various other app users who had left their comments. Then I tried to do register via my browser. Unfortunately, it wouldn't recognise my phone number that I. D had given as it was a mi-fi dongle ( possibly.) So, after failing at that I tried calling them for a few days. Please bear in mind that calling their I. D mobile freefone number (7777) wasn't very free for me, having only purchased a dongle at £20 a month. Needless to say getting through to them on the phone was impossible - a point not lost on many of their complaining customers - After using up my data over a couple of weeks I put the dongle back in the drawer and waited until my new Monthly allowance kicked in. I was blind on how much data i had used, because I couldn't get anywhere with registration. I presumed that, like my previous 3 mobile dongle, it would stop once the data had run out. The first month this did actually happen, but I was then charged £95 for February. I was told the charge was for "data usage". So, lets understand this correctly: For the first month I. D automatically stopped my usage on 20 gig, as per my contract, but apparently then let me run up a huge bill on data for the next! I'm positive (for a start) that I didn't use anywhere near that amount of data, but then to change the rules when you don't or can't get access to your own account is extraordinarily stupid. As a grown up (almost 40 something im pretty sure how much data ive gone through! I have now seen many other people commenting that they have been unable to set up their accounts either, leaving them not knowing anything about their expenditure. This is 3 using " old School" tactics that they can no longer use themselves because they are too much in the public and politicians eyes. So, they've set up another smaller company along with Carphone Warehouse to play the old tricks that all the big boys used to, e.g. like EE, o2, etc. I will be complaining to the Ombudsman and have now asked for my contract to be cancelled. Why do the British public get slammed by Telecoms companies all the time. It's endless the games they play and the money they make out of chaos and nothing other than radio waves.
