ID.me simplifies how individuals prove and share their identity online. The ID.me secure digital identity network has over 98 million members, as well as partnerships with 30 states, 10 federal agencies, and over 500 name-brand retailers.
The company provides identity proofing, authentication and community verification for organizations across sectors. The company's technology meets the federal standards for consumer authentication and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 conformant credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. ID.me's Identity Gateway also has a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO). ID.me is the only provider with video chat and is committed to "No Identity Left Behind" to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.
The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in its identity verification service, which many users found secure and efficient, particularly praising the helpfulness of customer service during video calls. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the complexity of the verification process, which some customers found frustrating and time-consuming, particularly older users or those with unique identification issues. Additionally, delays and technical difficulties, including issues with document acceptance and login credentials, have led to dissatisfaction among several users. Overall, while the service is valued for its security, improvements in user experience and support are essential.

Not sure about ID.me's purpose and its usefulness. It seems it is mandatory, but from this survey, it seems it is optional? If it is just an optional tool, I might not sign up for it since it takes time to upload ID card and a selfie, in addition to inputting a lot of personal information.
I was astounded at all the information I was asked to provide--things we are told to NEVER give anyone online. I regret having already submitted what I did.
O easy to use. I struggle in the social security site when I competed all the process I was told everything was correct and verified the system informed me I could not be found.
I got this program to help with other sites in recognizing my military service and to use it to log into the VA health website. Very easy to use and once set up they have a lot of special perks for veterans.
Having to input the same information over and over was not a comfortable experience - all appeared to be a forced situation because I wasn't able to log into the site I wanted without completing the ID.me setup.
Setting up an account with ID.me was easy, fast and convenient. The whole process was seamless from start to finish including verification, document uploads and video identification.
Such an easy way to set up everything at your fingertips, that's I was able to do it by myself, which usually never happens. There are also safeguards in your account to protect your information. Very pleased.
Took a while to create the account, but it was described very well and easy to do. Two very minor issues:
1. When adding the MFA, I could also add one. Had to wait until I signed in again to add a second one.
2. After creating a new ID.me account, the system said there was an error and I had to do it again. But the account was created and I did not have to go through the process again.
ID.me did not recognize my personal account that is tied to my SSN. Also, I could not list a phone number to be contacted. Your website lacks usefullness.
It was OK. I had some helpful people. I hope they could pass their knowledge to other people and get very helpful to other people especially somebody has a old guy like me.
I'm 72 years. I had an extremely hard time going from the computer to the cell phone. Upload, selfie. Not great for us older senior's that are not technical savvy. I must say I had to use it a few times.
Why are there two different ways to sign into my Social Security account? Simple question but either one of you, either ID me or login.gov gives a simple answer. Maybe when Congress opens the government back up.
My experience with ID.me made a great impact on my life, because of the kind of security that it has to protect my identity from scammers.
The IRS is now requiring taxpayers to remit via ID.me. The is beyond the physial ability of older taxpayers.
Why is the IRS permitted to discriminate against physically handicapped taxpayers. Does the Commissioner want to receive our tax money or not?
Very friendly software to use explains each step very clearly. I appreciate each one of your colleagues, Very intelligent people
It took longer than expected. It requires an unbelievable amount of personal info. If this data is breached by criminals, it will ruin lives.
Trying to sign my father up for VA Benefits and ran up against ID.me. Quite possibly the worst verification process one would ever go through. At one point, I was in Dante's 9th ring of hell taking pictures with my phone, back and forth on my PC and then getting pinwheels and error messages. I just stopped the process and gave up. They suck so bad.
You site works very well for me on numerous occasions, to many to list! Great for benefits information and if your a first responders you can obtain gear at lower cost. Works Great For Me! WLP
