Agent did not know this was for a state of confirmation - kept referring to IRS - I corrected him multiple times. NJ emailed me to say they still haven't received the info - agent did not introduce himself - who was he? Was he legit? Where is my info because the state that asked for it doesn't have it. I'm not confident about this company or its ability to safeguard my ID information
My personal opinion is that ID.me is a work around for SSA users with no US mailing address, however I would rather use a federal application which is not an option in my case. PS. My experience with ID.me is close to zero have just established ID.me account therefore my rating is irrelevant. Will move to fed. Application as soon as I'm back to US soil. Yes I do have concerns regarding how safe information I have provided to ID.me... Could you please comment on it? Appreciate.

With fraud rife with dark web characters sharing your personal information and local and international hackers stealing your assets - we are absolutely vulnerable to the unknown with little resources to solve it. I have been hacked a few times. I sleep better knowing that it is harder for the bad guy to get your information. ID.me shuts you out of your account if you mess up your password too many times. So! The bad guy stands no chance!
It was easy and informative to re gain and learn about my personal information. My life has indubitably been in flip flopping shambles for years. (Meaning) my credit report/scores, financial issues/business, relationships, education & etc. were misplaced for 33 years of my life. I turn 34 on May 24 2025 & I am utterly & gratefully thankful to and for everyone and everything that has helped me & me helping them in any way & every way possible. I think I found a loop hole!
The process took way too long to complete, lasting over several days until the account was finally verified. Even then, access to the IRS account was still denied because of something that went wrong with the verification process. I use Login.gov for other government business and wish that option were available for the IRS as well.
I have used ID.me for myself, brother, and father's ID several months apart. First me, my brother a year later, then my father two years later. Despite the lag in time, their self video verification process does not work and has not improved nor been fixed. We always end up having to call an agent. Extremely incompetent and inconvenient process.

I have used this service multiple times and have no problems being able to log in to check account information or change information the government agency allows to be changed. If anything, this service/program works better than some of the agencies' websites it enables access to.
ID.me is a trustworthy asset to use and have when using public websites that require your data. It gives you a sense of security without having to worry about ID theft or stolen ID. It is very secure, and I'm thankful that websites are now using this software.
