This is really fun, the only reason it's getting bad reviews is because some players are unkind, (in my experience hard to find) and you can't ride the horse. So in Howrse, you can compete with your horse and take care of it, the way you compete is if your horse has enough energy, you select a competition, which it has to have 5 participants, some are researved for a certain breed. This is mainly a breeding game, it breeds the right color andgenetics, you'll fall in love with this game! With tutorials, it gives very clear instructions,

“Greedy Money Hungry Game”

Zophi M.
5/8/23

As a base player, there aren't many things you can actually obtain without spending money. Sure they run events frequent enough where you could potentially win some high end black market items, but for the most part it would take someone a little while saving up equus to purchase a black market item off the exchange from other players. They only offer Divine horses through promotions such as the Horn of Plenty, or Golden Fleece. I refuse to give this company a dime just for the chance to get Divine horses. They should be far more readily available for players who cannot afford to throw hundreds of dollars at this game. I no longer play as a result of their greedy tendencies that have gone on for far too long.

They don't care about their player base, all they want is money! They can't even hand out full divines anymore it's all in stupid "shards"! Gotta spend hundreds just to get a divine worth 10! DISGUSTING!

Ever since they came out the love divines were in a HOP offer every Valentine's. Guess what, now they're in the reserved sales for 2 000 $#*!ing passes and the new one is in the Golden Fleeces. It's not the first nor the last slight we'll receive from them. This game is run by greedy bastards and it deserves to crash and burn to the ground. I spent years and years on this game and like many others I put thousands of hours of work into it only for them to mock and screw us over at every occasion they get.

Several people over the past two months have been karma docked or banned for 'scripting' without any proof. None of these players script. When asked for the evidence the admin team gives blanket statements and refuses to provide anything. The admin team is an absolute joke. They will hand out bans based on what their top customers say. Avoid this game at all costs. Play another horse sim game.

It's frustrating when you don't remember the password or email you used. I'd suggest not making an account.

You have to pay real money to actually make any kind of progress, not allowed to voice your own opinions, rude people on the forums, takes a long time to age the horses up much, got bored of game fairly quickly, and you have to keep on logging in to keep your account from getting deleted for said "security reasons" which makes literally no sense whatsoever.

Howrse is a amazing game, which I used to like alot myself.
So around yesterday, I sold 3 horses to someone. Then when I came back home after going to my horse riding lesson, I find out that I got banned. I sent them a mail, and everything they told me was that "my account is potential of having multi accounts". Not helpful at all, and I spent over 300 euro's on this game.
This means I need to wait 9 MONTHS to get back to how I was before yesterday.
The picture I attached down there, is in Dutch, let me translate it for you.

Hello.,

Thanks for your message.
Having multiple accounts (called multi-accounts) is strictly prohibited on Howrse. This is reported on several pages in the game.
Multi-account usage means that a player creates more than one account per server, or that several players play on a single account. So it has nothing to do with the sale of horses to another player, but with sharing your account (not through co-management) or creating additional accounts.
Your account was detected during a check. We use special software for this. We consider the punishment justified and we will not remove it.
Further messages will not change the answer. When the penalty is over you can continue playing on one account.

Sincerely,

The Howrse Team

I never shared my account with ANYONE, and never made a multi account. I started playing this game in 2014, and seeing howrse just accusing me of something that didn't even happen is even more sad.

Pay to play even though it's avertized as free. Customer service is by far the worst I've ever seen. Supposedly family friendly but mods and adimins punish you for having multiple family members play with their own accounts. Developers are just money hungry and do not care nor support their clientele.

I have played this game on and off for years, it is becoming more and more pay to play. The prizes for doing the mini games have got worse, used to get a decent amount of black market items and now you're lucky if you get 1 or 2. I am fed up of not doing as well in the game just because I can't afford to put hundreds of £ into the game. They have become money grabbing degenerates.

This entire game is run and filled by greedy slobs. Not only is the sight hard to navigate, but it's entirely rigged for the people who can pay their way through it. The community and the Horse Sales are a nightmare. Someone is always there to outbid you and every horse in direct sales is insanely overpriced. Why can't I drop the price on a non-purebred from 200K to 27K? Seriously? These aren't even real horses and people are freaking and playing like they are. This game really isn't worth it. I highly recommend you find a better game to play.

Nothing but a greedy game with a toxic community. I joined when the game first started and loved it - loyal member up until Owlient wasn't the owner and it's become nothing but a sad site to see. They will boot you for just about anything including having an opinion of your own (Even if respectful mind you). You can't get far in the game without a bunch of $. I highly suggest looking else where. Try Horse Reality out! You won't be as disappointed or taken advantage of. Plus it's got graphics worth checking out.

This site has got worse and worse. I have played now for over 10 years and spent real money on it. It is now a money making exercise. There have been a mass exodus of players and it is now such a horrible site. The constant need for promos and reshaping the pass system to get people to spend. Find yourself another game, Such a shame I had to give it one star as it is it is one more than it deserves!

This game sucks big time. Lazy unhelpful & highly unprofessional customer service. My 4 brothers all played with different accounts so their logic is we were the same user. They're so stupid that they assumed it was one account which means their rules are even dumber. I did so a chargeback & got my money back after they temporarily banned a couple of our family accounts. Not giving my money to these greedy thieves again. Horrible game & people. Very unprofessional. Stay away!

Howrse used to be fun. (Anyone remember the classic yellow background, or is that just me?) It used to be completely free to play, had good forums, and honestly was where I used to spend hours with my pixel ponies. Then it started requiring purchases just to progress. Now, who knows? It is not the same site I fell in love with, and hasn't been for quite some time. The systems keep changing and what once was free has now become a way to scam horse lovers. I've tried going back several times, only to be disappointed repeatedly. Honestly, its sad how boring this game has become. Best save your time and frustration and look elsewhere for an animal game that does care about its players, rather than revenue.

Tip for consumers:
Think about what you want from this game. Then do a quick search for that!

I began before Ubisoft bought the game, and it was great. You could learn about horses, how to care for them, and there was a lot of social interactions. Now, it's just greed and moneygrubbing, and the latest abomination of the "Great Challenge' is ATROCIOUS. I do NOT recommend this game to ANYONE. I'm ashamed to admit I still play, but this latest crap was the last straw for me. Any criticism results in being banned from commenting, because they have to prop up their lies about being a happy community. If you want to see what's wrong with the world, this game is a prime example. The art contributed by the players is magnificent, but I can't be a part of this any more.

I am honestly shocked at this game's operation. Ostensibly open to players of all ages, it is free to open an account, but requires a significant investment of real money to advance. In talking with other players, I have learned that investments of hundreds and even thousands of dollars annually are required to play competitively. That is something to consider before joining a sim game with possibly addictive elements.

But what is more alarming is the hostility and outright contempt with which the administrators of the game treat their players. Huge game upheavals occur regularly as rules are changed with little or no warning, leaving long-time players at a serious loss. Non-appealable decisions by game administrators eliminate accounts, sanction players, and punish game members for minor or innocent offenses. Game reps have admonished players with rude and inappropriate language, without repercussion. Honestly surprised that this game has survived the growth of social media, as it is just the sort of uncaring corporate monolith that is regularly taken down by organized protest.

I had my account for 10 years with howrse. Spent tons of money too. I had rare and divine horses, horses I'd spend literally hours on trying to perfect their skills. It's all gone forever. They completely wipe your account with no warning after 6 months of inactivity. 6 months is not that long for an account that has been around for 10. YEARS. I'm an adult now, of course I can't play every day. I'm just really upset about this because they won't restore anything that I've lost, and they DO NOT KEEP RECORDS. I keep better records than them - I have the original email from when I first signed up. But they haven't kept any information on file so I just can't get anything back. How absolutely dumb. What a nice surprise for a loyal customer of 10 years. Never giving them another penny.

I have played howrse for several years and was obsessed with this game. I had so much fun breeding, buying and selling horses. Unfortunately life got in the way and I wasn't able to play for two years resulting in my account being deleted. I recently created a new account to try it out again as I loved this game. It was then I realized that my beloved game and turned into something I didn't even recognize. All these changes they've implemented to "improve" the site have done nothing but drive loyal long time players away and scare off new ones. The passes, the piggy bank, the need for people to spend spend spend just to play a "free" game is absolutely ridiculous. You used to be able to work you way up in the game and do well for yourself without spending money. Now they're essentially saying "if you can't pay, don't play. We don't want you here." It's nothing more than a way to take advantage of unsuspecting kids and long time players trying to keep up with a warped version of something they one loved. Just stay away!

This site has turned into a pay to play site, it's no longer fun to play on.
You can't even go inactive due to health issues with having your account, which you've been playing for 11 years and paid over £2,000 for, close due to "inactivity".
I will NEVER recommend this game, not even to my enemies.
It is to worse game ever!
All they want is your money!
A few years ago, the reserved horses were special divines and only cost £5, now they're at least £10 each and not even that great!
They don't listen to the players, all they care about is their "devs corner" which is absolutely useless.
This game, and it's thieving company, should be shut down!

I've played this game for 10 years. I've spend thousands in USD supporting this game and almost half of my life bolstering my ranking and helping teams grown the GP of many different teams. I've dedicated so much to this game, but in the end it really isn't worth it. The administration is awful--often, they acknowledge that players hate new changes and don't want them, but respond with a "too bad" attitude and sanction users for any public outcries. This game used to be so much fun to play, and I still remember when I was a little girl getting to live out my dream of caring for horses in a way that was realistic for me. It isn't like that anymore. You can be punished for anything imaginable, from saying you dislike a promo to just having too many warning, which can be any amount of warnings at all! Most of the rules are not written anywhere on the site, and moderators and administrators complete ignore vicious cyberbullying in the forums. You can even be banned for trying to defend yourself against insults! You cannot advance in this game without real money, and Howrse and its staff do not care about you. If you have a problem, it can take weeks for them to get back to you. If a promo or something else on the site is broken, no one will address it until it is already fixed. Communication doesn't exist on this site. It's a broken system, and it deserves to fade into the background.

Howrse used to be the best game to play, but now not so much.
They really only care about your money.
Just this year there have been there outrageous changes that have made countless riots amongst players. And oh God forbid you disagree with a mod or admin and BAM instant ban hammer and/or karma loss.
I give it a year before it closes down

I joined Howrse.com as a child in 2007. I loved it. I spent HOURS on it. Now, the game is unrecognizable. It is no fun and completely impossible if you don't want to spend real money. Final straw for me was the pass currency change and the loss of pass horses. They used to give you 1 pass if a horse died in your care over the age of 30. I'm a retired coat collector. Small scale. I'd earn enough Equus to buy a few pass horses a month and would save for coats. They took that away from me, and I refuse to pay $15 for passes to buy a retired coat horse. This game has been going down hill for YEARS, but it total trash now.

That's the best way I can describe it. While the company itself may think its doing itself a favor by pushing updates and changing economy, I see it driving many players away. They've restricted the ease and the amount of the premium currency you can obtain in-game without paying money for it. Relating it to real life for people who haven't played, if before you could get $30 for 2 hours of work, now you get $9 for a month of work. They've added an unnecessary 10% tax to all sales in the market, claiming its to limit cheating. They do the minimum when it comes to communicating with players. There is no specific set of rules to follow. When asked why we dont have a list of rules, we are told it is because there are too many to list off. This results in rules being vague, people getting extra warnings and bans because of not understanding what is and what isnt allowed.

I could go on, but my final verdict is - dont play the game. Its far too much effort, far too hard, rigged, expensive, and is becoming quite a chore rather than a game.
