I made a couple mistakes during the setup process of my Wordpress site. Hostwinds support assisted me with every request I had that day. I had probably 5 or 6 requests before I was finished and all setup on my blog.
I started with a chat about how to add cPanel to My VPS... They redirected me to sales with a link and then, nothing. I finally found out how to do it myself.
I appreciate the updates after ordering. The ordering process took a while. I ended up having to do it twice and the second time through cost a few bucks more for the same thing. I'd tried a few months ago to get a similar set-up, but there was no availability. Other than that, I was happy with the chat support during the order. It was fast! I also appreciate the updates on how close we are to setting up. I look forward to working with Hostwinds!

Access via RDP works fine from my MacBook Pro. I'm trying to install an MT5 platform, and am not experienced sufficiently for that, so finding a little difficulty setting that up. I appreciate most people will be sufficiently better versed than I, but an option for some guided tutorial on first entry would help me. (unless I have by chance simply missed one that's already there...)

To run an MT5 terminal with an EA. I work from my Laptop which may be offline, so I need a fast always-on reliable server to keep the beast operating 24/7. Nice that I can connect through my iPad too while moving around...

Dylan was incredibly helpful and went to extremes to see that my issues were addressed. Asher was exceptional at answering my questions and overseeing the transfer.
It was a relatively painless experience, with no technical issues.
The only reason for 4 stars is the company's lack of phone or live chat support with technical services. This is the only company whom I researched that does not offer this as part of their higher-end offering.
As specified ad nauseum, I do not love a support ticket-only style of customer service. I prefer speaking to an educated and experienced tech support representative whenever possible; alternatively, live chat with such a representative is the second best solution. This is for speed and efficiency. Ticket-based solutions are just too slow and tend to draw out the process.
That said, the team was exemplary.
Frankly, Dylan's straight-forward and honest approach. He obviously knows the business and is not a pure-sales person, nor an uneducated customer service representative who bores you with scripted responses.
Second, the business appears to be well-run and technically savvy - something I cannot say about all shared hosting providers.
I believe this was a smart choice for my business and hope to have a long-term relationship with Hostwinds.
This new experience started very well, with chat and email support always available and competent.
I reviewed a couple of providers and decided to work with Hostwinds.
I signed up for the "Windows" VPS Managed services and it's been a few days and the service is working GREAT! And since I got the service I only had to contact support and they fixed my server and setup my backup add-on which didn't take long at all. So if you want my opinion the help and service is GREAT! And I will surely recommend them.
I was a previous customer that left the webmaster field temporary and since I had a great experience last time I decided to choose them to host my sites since I have rejoined the webmaster field.
I'm no "Windows" expert and wanted to get nice performance with fully managed vps, it's a little pricey, but knowing if I don't understand anything about "Windows" even though I have a "Windows" laptop they be there to help me out when an issue arise.
Total package is honestly presented, though DDoS cost was a hit. I did use two of your sales associates and it was nice to have human beings to talk to.
AFA as after-the-sale support, I have mixed reactions. Too many tickets are generated, and often the responses can be characterized as 'before we can do this, you need to x, y, and z." That said, I accept that I do need to learn more -- even as a 38-year veteran of the software industry -- and I buckle down.
Overall, I think HostWinds is a resource that I can use and value for their service. They certainly work hard to help within the allowed constraints of their processes!

I have tried the chat line link but it goes nowhere, I then called their 800# only to remain on hold for 20 minutes before giving up. Have sent email but only just, so will see what happens. If they are closed at weekends, I understand but it would be nice were they to announce their business hours.
I am having problems in uploading website and there is not much help on their website on that subject. I was previously with Siteground but changed to this company as they had better rates. Now I know why! I had no problems with the previous hosting firm.

As an update - I did receive a response to my email concerning access to chat lines which suggested clearing cache and trying a different browser, which I did, but to no avail. The following morning I tried phoning and was on hold less than two minutes, when I was able to discuss uploading of a website. The rep I spoke to was very knowledgeable and very helpful and took time to help sort out the problem. Because of this I have increased the star rating to 4 and would have given five had they originally stated an estimated hold time on phone or had a system which enabled them to call back when tech available.
Decent and responsive tech support (chat) - while I was shopping around different sites, I had good feedback (instant response to my questions).

Purchase was easy & fast. Next day review of account is incorrect. They are showing a balance due but that is not correct. I assume it will be soon corrected without my having to spend time with them.

Hostwinds takes care of my account like GoDaddy used to long ago.
The plan and subscription experience was ok, however due to some reasons hostwinds asked for further confirmation and credit card verification.
I appreciate Hostwinds offering their sales prices to existing customers! I had to order a new instance to get the price, so it took more of my time and theirs but still glad to have the option to do so.
Good. I've just upgraded my vps server and I found that i had to order a new instance to get the sales price (rather than just upgrade my existing site), but its good i have that option. Most companies don't offer their sales prices to their existing customers at all. I appreciate that Hostwinds values it's customers!
Overall, i've been extremely happy with their support and customer service for the last 2 years that i've been a customer.
I like having a local company and they are one of the top rated anywhere. They have easy upgradablity and are totally flexible for additional hard drive space for the server and for backups as needed. Great service!

Well, I often struggle with getting purchasing hosting plans that have a decent balance in cost and performance. For me, Hostwinds does a pretty good job.
