I started with a chat about how to add cPanel to My VPS... They redirected me to sales with a link and then, nothing. I finally found out how to do it myself.
I had trouble with my card, and I was charged for 4 different servers.
I picked this service because I am inexperienced and they advertised site building software, Webby, I think. There are absolutely no instructions on how and where to start. You would think that they would at least refer to some place that would help. I paid a year in advance and unless I find something I missed before, I will be attempting to get my $ back.
The price and the advertisement showed that they included site building software. I am suspecting that I am going to find out that the money I paid barely got me in the door and they will need more and more money for me to actually have the web site I thought I was paying for.
Very fast and reliable response. They have a very good customer service...

The Unmanaged Linux server IP i purchased was on Blacklist.
Ok experience.
I had to submit documentation a total of three times. No where in the instructions did it say an electronic signature was not permitted, and I was told to blur out my debit card information on the actual card but had to provide the number on paper? That doesn't make any sense.
Customer service was decent and pretty much just told me to hang tight until the situation was resolved.
It was cheap and I need a server for my class.
Hostwinds didn't work for me. I had problems connecting with the FTP. So I cancelled the order within a few hours of purchase (and well within its supposed "60 day money back guarantee"). However, when you cancel the order it does NOT automatically generate a refund. You have to contact the billing team separately and chase them for a refund!. They took payment immediately but I am still waiting (over a week) for a refund.
I've been with Hostwinds for 3 years and have had a decent experience, nothing outstanding. Recently however, they have changed something forcing you to upgrade to a "Cloud" VPS if you wish to add additional IP addresses, etc. to your package. Interestingly enough, the same package that cost $55 now costs $75 if you "migrate" as they they put it. We all know datacenter costs have gone down and will continue to, so why the $20 per month jump in price?
But the issue I've found most over the past few months is that the Tech Support don't know what they are doing anymore. They used to be skilled and knowledgeable when you made a ticket, now they either don't read the ticket and take time to understand it, or are just plain "I can push the reset button and now have been promoted to answering tickets" type people. A simple request to have additional IPV6 addresses assigned took a back and forth with 4 different support people before it was resolved. A downed website took over 2 days and over 7 different employees.
To further that, when I created a new cloud VPS server on Windows 2016, they did not install the Windows source files onto the HD so you could add roles and features or Windows components. I had a 3 day back and forth with them, 50% of the time them not understanding something very simple like that and 50% of the time they reffering to my new package as "Unmanaged" and they won't help - which is fine, except that their own TOS says they will help for 2 certain things: Infrastructure and a properly configured VPS, which this fell under - and they still did not fix the problem. I had to end up downloading a CD of Server to get the Source files so I could install IIS.
Better to look elsewhere if you need support that knows what they are doing.
