“Here we go again... Home Advisor Rip-off - DON'T SIGN UP”

Diane D.
1/13/20

I have to keep my leads turned off or I'd go broke. I called a lead within 2 minutes. The guy said he already hired a contractor and broken ground. This is NOT a valid lead. Homeadvisor refuses to give me my money back. The situation is a rip-off for $57.87 per dead lead. Plus 2 others paid the same. The only person making money is Homeadvisor at $150 per call. They are not playing fair, and not treating the contractors right, very dishonest practices.

Misleading sales team promises you the Moon and leaves you high and dry with a big bill. Never spoke with a single customer and they charged me $500. Good luck getting a refund for anything. Customer service will lie and try to put words in your mouth that you never said. Not a reputable company. Total scam.

I have been using homeadvisor pro services for tv mounting services for 6 months, I have only lost money, I called customer support and they told me they are only providing advertising services, they are not responsible for the quality of the leads, the leads are the most expensive I have ever seen, they dont care about the businesses that they work with, not only that but they are also sending the same leads to another part of homeadvisor that will call the customer and sell them on services that I got the lead for, they need to be STOPPED FROM RIPPING BUSINESS OFF

Wow, have we been getting many, many terrible "leads". Many customers we have spoken with tell us they did not request any heating and cooling services from Home Advisor or Angie's List (now a combined company) and yet we were sent their contact info as a viable lead. We are getting out from under this financial burden as their customer service is terrible and they do not credit us for the lousy leads we notify them of 9 out of 10 times. Very upset with HAP. If I were considering starting this service and knew what I know now I would have never entertained their "services".

A typical corporation with good sales people. Think about if you can get out of the contract as easily as you get into it! Take time to make decision!

I joined home advisor pro as I thought it would be a good idea starting a new business. Nope. Leads were a joke almost like they had people call acting like they were interested. They were not interested in helping out. I ended up turning all my services off so I didnt receive any more leads. My year went great without them. One year hits and its time to renew. No call, emails unsubscribed, they take another years fee of almost $300. I call and wait on hold for some time. Turns out its non-refundable. But since its been charged they want to wait another year so I can forget to cancel again. Nope! They just stole $300 from me.

SHADY SALES PEOPLE - STEAL MONEY FROM BUSINESS OWNERS - DO NOT TRUST!

I was cold called by a Home Advisor Pro sales rep one morning early this year. He sounded like a mob ganster on the phone, which made me ever more leery of what he as selling. No joke - Danny Vitiello - with a Jersey accent and all. I seriously though I was being pranked. I had to ask him for a legit email from Home Advisor Pro to even continue the call. He talked a good talk, and sold me a product I thought would actually help my business. That's because he was promising me a platform that didn't exist (at least not with Home Advisor Pro) so he could make a sale. He said he'd be my dedicated Sales Rep throughout my membership with Home Advisor Pro.

First of all, a yearly membership cost me about $350. Again, I thought it would be a value to my business, and help me get new clients. He then told me that each lead would cost between $30-$60 depending on the credibility of the lead, and that IF THOSE LEADS DID NOT PRODUCE PAYING CLIENTS, I WOULD BE CREDITED THE COST BACK. I am a very transparent and trusting person, and clearly a absolute sucker. I signed up for the program, letting him know my business could only handle about 4 leads per month, if that. Four months in, I'm getting charged (via direct bank withdrawal they make you set up) about $100 a month for NOTHING. I replied to every single lead, and found that most people looking for services on Home Advisor Pro are simply doing preliminary cost and service research, and very few are ready to hire. So four months in I decided to take Danny up on his credit offer for the leads that were complete wastes of my time and money. I immediately manually paused all incoming leads for 2 weeks (which is the max you can pause leads), and contacted someone on their support team. I explained my situation, including the frustration that one of their reps has flat out LIED to get me to sign up (probably on a recorded call, btw) and she was very sweet and helpful, and said she would credit me as many leads as she could, as a one time courtesy. I printed the conversation as a reference when I suspected they would never actually credit me.

She offered to credit me $187.45, which I was elated about since I technically signed up for a BS money-sucking platform that lied to get me on board, and I should have done more research first. (so, getting half my leads credited was really all I could ask for). It's now 2 weeks later, and the money has still not been deposited back into my account, so I again contacted support. She let me know that the credits had been applied to my Home Advisor Pro account, and I could ONLY USE THEM FOR FUTURE LEADS OR APPLY THEM TO A MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL! Unbelievable. A total scam - they use confusing language and complete trickery to screw over business owners - most of whom I assume are small like me. I can't even imagine how much money Home Advisor Pro makes off of their bigger base, ESL (English as a Second Language) service providers whose English skills are likely worse than mine.

So here I am at the end of a 4 month tenure with Home Advisor Pro, having spent $750 more or less, for absolutely NOTHING except for a waste of my time in contacting every lead that came across my desk.

Needless to say Danny Vitiello never returned any of my emails or calls, because he knows exactly what he did to screw me (and probably many others) over. Check out his Linked In profile. He does not look like a savvy sales rep, proudly representing Home Advisor Pro or any other business.

So, in conclusion, if you get a cold call from Home Advisor Pro, HANG UP! They will take your money, and not help your business. Stick with Yelp, Google, or ANY OTHER ONLINE DIRECTORY THAT'S FREE. You'll get the same quality of reviews, for less or no cost to you.

Tip for consumers:
This company screws over small business owners.

DO NOT JOIN! I made the mistake and it cost me $750 over 4 months, and did not connect me with ANY valid leads.
