If there was a real person at Gun broker I would ask: Why is your "customer service" so bad? Why is it that you let your vendors rip of people like me? Why is it if I complain you just "block" me off? I spent well over tens of thousands of dollars on your site and at the first problem (over $44.95) get insulted by you and your protected bad vendor? That vendor Karen Jenkins "morgantrailandgunstuff", and Gun Broker are just pain wrong and don't care, once they got your money..
Be very, very careful. Gun Broker will provide you no true support if you get ripped off. (maybe some lip service for a while, then they will cut you off and claim "successfully resolved, when it isn't). They set up "rules" for their "feedback" and let 'mass sellers' violate them along with those vendors leaving personal attacks on people that would dare question them being attacked. Their "rules" are whatever GB feels like at the time. Stick to working with people you know. if there is an item
So here we go,
Found the Rifle I want, and noticed to be priced a little lower then other rifles on GunBroker, Since it is a specialty Rifle there was not a lot to look at and I was excited.
Contacted the seller asked the questions as why he was selling, How long has he had, Was it the current model?
The guy responded in a very quick and timely manor and with utmost respect.
This went back and forth for a week as far as getting the FFL stuff of his to my FFl dealer and a little more bartering on the price. Figured hey why not? It don't hurt to ask.
After all was agreed upon and he gave me his word he was a dealer for this manufacture. In Fact said he bought it direct and since he has heard so much about them he could not let it sit on the shelf without trying it out.
So he stated he put about 10 rounds through it and was in love with it, but as a dealer still needed to sell it. So he took the hit on profit to try it out.
I did try to get ahold of NEMO and get more info on it, as I like to really do my homework and make sure all facts are correct. As I would love to trust everyone, I just have learned my leason.
Well unfortunaltly I decided to purchase a gun during Shot Show and they were not calling back.
The Seller then reached out to me telling me there was another interested party and since I had contacted him first he wanted to give me the oportunity.
Well what a nice guy. So I took the plunge he was not lying and pushed the buy it now button.
The Rifle arrived in a week and I went and picked it up. I made sure it was the one we talked about and everything that came with it was there. It all checked out.
I had the rifle for about 3 days and the seller even reached out to me to see if I liked it. We had really bad weather and I told him I had not had a chance to take it out due to the weather, but I was in love with having it.
Well it had been about 5 days now since I had it and NEMO Arms called me back.
Here is were it goes down hill,
It looks as if the NEMO was a Oct. 2013 model so not the latest one as he stated, he is also not a NEMO Arms dealer, and the gun was originally purchased in Dallas Texas buy a real Nemo Arms dealer.
When I had checked out from a local NEMO dealer he even stated there was a lot more then 10 rounds through this gun.
He then went to tell me it looks like they put the latest muzzle break on it to look like the newest one
So I reached out to the Seller to find out why this is all not what he said and got very bad emails from there and very foul language. He stated he knew I was trouble the day I started asking question.
I reached out to Gun broker right away as I noticed I was not going to get help form him.
They closed the case and stated I need to wait 30 days from time of purchase and try to settle it with him.
Well I knew that was not happening so I waited my 30 days and re-opend the case. It has now been over 2 months and they have only responded with nothing I have said is in his listing. I responded same day describing all that was said is through emails and I could send then forward to show if needed.
Well it is still to this day writing this and no response. I feel as I have spent 4525. 00 through them I have waited long enough and should know something by now, but I do not
The original claim was started on 2/5/16 and I am still sitting on something I have spent a lot of money on and do not want to use so It is the way I received it.
I hope this long story helps someone form getting scammed too.
OK quick update,
GunBroker just emailed me back pretty much after this post. They said they have been in contact with the seller, He gave me 3 days to look over the unit and make sure it is what I was asking.
This is true he did, as you read above though I could not get ahold of NEMO cause of the shot show.
They also said that non of what I am saying is in the listing and for that reason they are closing my case.
Take a look at the transcript below. This is BS, there is no resolution for the buyer. I guess it is cause they only make money off people selling items and want to keep that relationship strong. Non the less I will find a way to get this across to all I can. Facebook. News stations, radio. I will let as many people know. I work in the market were I go into a lot of homes and specially for people with money and tell you what the words from one to another is a powerful thing.
Like all sites OF THIS COMPLEXITY, you have to read all the fine print. Gunbroker is just the medium that brings buyer and seller together. So stop blaming them for things that are not their fault. Gunbroker's site is the best and most user friendly of the bunch. They are also the 800 pound gorilla in the gun auction business and for very good reason. They also don't tolerate bidders that don't pay their bills which protects reputable sellers. Bidders don't complete auctions for many reasons but most are because they bought the wrong item, they bought something which they couldn't afford, they had a few too many and woke up to the reality they bought something and didn't have the money to pay for it. As a seller with thousands of transactions under our belt I've heard it all. People complain that Gunbroker is the bad guy but that's the farthest from the truth. Most of the problems stem from uneducated buyers that don't read the terms of sale and then complain after the fact that they didn't get something they assumed they should have gotten. The keyword is ASSUME! Don't ASSUME anything! Read the terms of sale B4 you bid. If you have a question then ask the seller B4 you bid. After you win an item is the wrong time to ask questions. Most sellers are reputable business people. Yes there are some bad apples but you have that everywhere. And Gunbroker will shut down a bad apple if then get too many negative feedback's from buyers too.
I noticed that some reviews accuse Gunbroker of putting in their bid at the wrong price. This is a ridiculous statement. The only way a price gets entered is if the bidder puts it in and then the site asks the bidder to confirm that his bid is correct before entering it. Another complaint I saw is that bidders claim that the site put in their bid at the "BUY IT NOW" price. Again just a ridiculous statement. The site only does what the user tells it to do! All these problems and complaints are mostly from new users that don't know what they are doing and then making mistakes that are their fault.
Another complaint which I see is that these uneducated buyers accuse Gunbroker of ripping them off by charging $1.00 (one dollar) to their credit card to verify that they are a legitimate person and not some jerk that wants to play games. This is a very reasonable request to protect the integrity of the site for the benefit of the buyer and seller. So all you tight $#*! complainers on this issue please stay away from Gunbroker because if you can't afford a dollar to verify that you are dealing with a real person on the other end of the transaction then you definitely don't belong on this site!
Gunbroker is a high volume site and I see complaints that they don't have good customer service due to the fact that they don't publish a phone number. If they had to address every question from people who are mostly too lazy to read the instructions then they would have to quadruple the amount of support staff which would have to be paid for by increased fees to the sellers which will be passed onto YOU as the buyer. So which way do you want it? Can't have your cake and eat it too!... If you want full service or someone to hold your hand then go to your local retailer and pay retail for the full service transaction you are requesting from Gunbroker that they cannot provide due to the nature of being an internet website. This is true of all high volume websites that basically sell at a discount. Try reaching a live body at AMAZON.COM... Good luck!
There are millions of happy users on Gunbroker that you don't here from. There is the saying that good news travels to one, bad news travels to a hundred, and that's what you have from 99% of the complainers that have written negative reviews here. This a great venue to find what you want an a good price with no BS. If buyer and seller follow the terms of sale that are written into the auction then there will be virtually no issues. KEYWORD: READ THE TERMS B4 YOU PLACE A BID. Nobody is forcing you to place a bid or to buy anything through this site. If you don't like the terms of the auction then don't buy the item, PERIOD! Don't buy and then try to get the seller to change the terms after you've won the auction. It doesn't work that way. The seller expects you to follow the terms of sale that you agreed to when you placed your bid.
JUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND TERMS OF SALE. DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING THAT IS NOT WRITTEN AND ASK YOUR QUESTION B4 YOU BID. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.
Worst website I have ever had the displeasure to do business with. I signed up for an account a year or two ago. I had never really purchased anything from this retailer before. I mainly made the account so if I found a deal I could jump on it (Rare to find a good deal on this website) So I found a NIB glock 17 gen 3 talo w/ ameriglo sights for $419.99 starting so I put down a bid of $450 and won the item for $430.09, a great deal. So I proceeded to notify/ask the buyer if I could pay via paypal or wait 3-4 business days to pay. At this point I realized there is no message box like ebay so I assumed that message go your account email, Well I was right. I dont have access to that account anymore so I decide ok I will try and change it to my current email. Well this does not work for two reasons 1. I cannot have the email be the same as the user name (WTF?!?!? I understand referential integrity of data but damn) ok and reason 2. They want to charge me another $1 to activate another free email (Pretty much the entire world uses free email services...) So at this point I email the seller telling them to just email my new account since gunbroker web designers are clearly morons. In addition I file a complaint on the website describing my issues and telling them to take note from how the eBay website is designed I said it was insane they charge to use a free email and that they need to get it together saying that I would like to think of them as the eBay of guns but what was currently being displayed was not at all up to snuff. OK so today I get access to my main email so I can check the messages from the seller and I see that he is ok with me paying later so I go back to gunbroker to let him know the status of everything and that my email is sorted out and what am I greeted by? A message saying "Your account has been terminated and your privilege to contact customer support has been revoked." OK so I am just saying WTF WTF WTF in my head. So I try and find a customer service number there is none, I try and get an email to message them to state how completely ridiculous this is, nope I can't even contact them as "your privilege to contact customer support has been revoked." So now I have a gun that I really want and can do nothing about. I will most certainly be contacting the BBB to report this company that should not even exist.
Gunbroker is the worst eCommerce auction website in the history of the internet! To start I have been a member for 8 years and had over 300 transactions on gunbroker until I willfully terminated my account (quite the process in itself). But, It is completely a sellers world the opposite of Ebay. There's no real buyer's protection at all against dishonest scamming sellers. The reason being is they have a monopoly and abuse it.
For example sellers will put "actual shipping cost" then charge you 3-5 times what it actually costs to ship an item (happens almost every time) and if you argue it you will end up with an NPB (none paying bidder) if you get 2 or more of these in a 90 day period you account will be automatically suspended. I know becuase I have several friends that this happen to. Also, Item will often (more often than not) not be as described e. G missing parts/accessories or completely none functional (it's the reason lowlifes sell their broken crap on gunbroker because there is no accountability for sellers and they wouldn't last 2 mins at a gunshow or a website who actually cares about it's buyers).
I have bought several hundred firearms off gunbroker in 8 years and can't even began to remember how many of them were defective and not as described. Luckfully I am an experienced gunsmith and have access to lathe's and cnc's therefore I've been able to fix most of them but if aren't be prepared to be screwed eventually. The customer support is a joke! If you do get them to actually read you're comment (assuming they can) in a support ticket and reply you're lucky. And pray to God you don't get GBsupport2006. This piece of SH*T is a the most unprofessional ahole I've ever encountered. Really all the support staff is that way. All they care about is getting their final value fees and could care less whether or not the buyer is scammed.
If you want to buy guns online I recommend Auctionarms, armslist or gunsamerica... really anything other than gunbroker. I terminated my account last month after being screwed for the last time and getting any help from gunbroker staff and will never do business with them again. BTW I don't work for anyone this is an honest assessment based on over 300 transactions in 8 years. I am a patent guy I have never rated a website negatively until now, but I hate to see people get shafted. Especially my fello gun nuts. I can't say strongly enough to avoid gunbroker at all costs. I know it is tempting when you see the low prices but it's not worth it you will get screwed eventually and will be out more cash than the amount you would have spend by going to another site or just going to your local gun store.
THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. After well over 12 years and 300 transactions on Gunbroker, they terminated my account for listing a clone scope. I was unaware that one couldn't sell a knock-off scope IF they clearly stated that "THIS IS A KNOCK-OFF, NOT GENUINE". However, rather than warn me, or suspend me, they deleted my account. When I tried to contact them, the internet response person (GBsupport1012) was extremely belittling an rude. He even threatened legal action. Here is a copy of the conversation:
ME: I have had an account open for nearly 10 years. I don't believe that three DIFFERENT violations (two of which I do not ever recall even receiving) over the course of nearly 10 years (maybe more) is grounds for terminating an account that has been quite profitable to your company.
GBSupport1012: We would not consider $2,374.41 in 12 years to be "quite" profitable. In fact we would have to pay our attorneys considerably more than that to resolve the matter if Leupold even called to complain once. We will not entertain additional discussion on the matter.
ME: Please have your manager contact me via phone call
GBSupport1012: I am THE manager and we do not offer telephone support.
ME: Please have your superior contact me via phone. You're very rude and unhelpful. I would like to talk with your boss. Thank you.
GBSupport1012: You don't seem to understand simple english. There is no one else for you to complain to. I am THE Supervisor.
ME: Also, I have not yet received payment for some of the items that I have sold on your site. I no longer have means if contacting the buyers. So I would like my listing and final value fees refunded to me for those auctions. You have already billed my account for those amounts. Since I never received those services that you charged me for, I will be disputing the withdrawl.
GBSupport1012: You still have full access to all of your transactions. However, that can be rescinded at any time. Please note that canceling an ACH transaction across state lines is the same as intentionally Bouncing a Check. Please see what the penalty for that in Nevada is. (And I do have a nexus in Vegas that will be happy to press charges!)
After this last comment, he opened my account back up so that I could contact a couple customers whom had won auctions. God forbid Gunbroker misses out on a couple final value fees.
I reported a guy who had a picture of something supposedly for sale... but when I tried to purchase it, the item pictured was not the item for sale. If I wanted the item pictured, it was going to cost me twice as much... classic bait and switch crap.
I dutifully got ahold of GB.com support, and told them about it, and explained what was going on, and they said they would take care of it
Nothing happened... nothing ever happens, because Gunbroker.com has no real support in place.
The guy who pulled the bait and switch, still wanted the money, so once again I contacted the supposed Gunbroker.com support, and again the result was the same, and I was totally ignored.
Once again I contacted support about the situation, and was getting a bit perturbed to say the least, but again they did absolutely nothing.
They say they will take care of it, but there really is absolutely no support.
They tell you what you want to hear, but then they do absolutely nothing, and are essentially useless…the supposed "support" is worthless.
I finally told them that if they did not get this straightened out soon, I was gone... their response... they cancelled my account... in the middle of purchases and kept any funds I had there.
I was livid, but I soon discovered that if you get screwed by support on GB.com, there is no one else you can contact to fix things, and you are history... no one really remotely cares.
Since then, I have been running a one person campaign against the site online, that has grown like topsy and it has become a major thorn for them.
It was so bad, they finally pulled out of the local BBB... and even Steve Urvan has felt the heat... high above us mere mortals in his NASTAR racing ivory tower.
You cannot contact anyone on the Gunbroker.com site, to complain about being mistreated by customer service.
Once your account is gone... too bad... so sad... go away... no contact.
After 600+ purchases, and being on there for for four years, with all positive feedback, and tens of thousands spent, I was no longer welcome on Gunbroker. Com…support had spoken.
I still wish to purchase certain items there, and am trying hard to figure out a way to contact members about listings, and purchasing them off the grid.
I most certainly will not deal with GB.com ever again.
