I repeat DO NOT SHOP ONLINE! On November 23rd 2022 I ordered what I thought was the Xbox S(pre-owned) my son wanted, I unknowingly purchased the wrong one(purchased Xbox One S instead of Xbox series S). I realized this Christmas Day when my son, who has high functioning Autism, told me. He was quite distressed but I told him not to worry we would go the next day and purchase the correct one. I couldn't have been more wrong! I was informed by our local Gamestop that since I hadn't purchased the extended warranty I was unable to exchange or return the gaming system, it needed to be within 7 days! I was appalled because this was a Christmas gift! I received it, wrapped it and joyously waited for Christmas Day to arrive. I shouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty to exchange an unopened order! My poor son lost it in the store, pacing and crying. My heart broke): In anticipation of what he was sure he was to receive he gave his old one away to a child he knew who couldn't afford one because he said it wasn't fair he had 2 when he knew the boy wanted one and couldn't have it. I'm a single parent myself(widowed), so I understood. I emailed corporate twice, NO RESPONSE! Called for DAYS on my lunch break and could NEVER get through(still trying). I'm saddened and appalled. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to exchange my item during the Christmas season. I feel let down and mislead. Corporate is only worried about raking in the cash and obviously feel their so big that they don't have to take care of the little people, their customers.

Kids love it
May 4, 2015

My son loves it because you can sell the games you're tired of, and you can pay in advance and get a new game coming out right away.

Good shop
January 28, 2021

It's pretty good but need cheaper games, I think it would have been better also if they had more deals. They need more stock for new consoles too

I ordered five new games online. When I opened my package, I discovered three of the five games opened with torn-off stickers on the cases. I waited almost an hour on the phone with Gamestop, and their response was "let me see if there is something we can do" like they never been through this before. Five minutes later he came back with a solution. He said they will do a shipping label to exchange the three games, and that it will take a few hours for my label to pop up in my email.

The email eventually came up and it was for a return of all five games for a refund, instead of an exchange for three games. My wife spoke with them again about the issue and they gave her two options; either return all five games or find a store to return them to.

I notified Gamestop service on Facebook Messenger and they responded the next day. I responded back in more detail about the used games but have not heard back from them since which would be 5-6 days ago.

I decided to go ahead and return the three games back to a store. I showed them the games, explained my story and they attempted to explain to me that they typically pull new games from sleeves in the drawer and put them back in a box. I said I was aware of the practice but still would like to return the games as I deem them used when the shrink is removed (as any other typical retail store would). Well apparently so does Gamestop because they began to discuss how they have no way to prove that the games were new because the stickers were removed from them (I gave them the games in the exact condition how I found them in the package). Eventually he said he will look at the disks and determine that way. I was given a refund (except its been over 24 hours and still hasn't shown back up on my card yet) for the three games, however, the customer service was some of the worst I have seen from a well known retailer; not to mention some of the shadiest practices, too. I don't think I will ever shop from them again.

I visit my local GameStop once a week, have become friends with the workers there, and we sometimes talk for an hour about the company. They say how their store is often stolen from, how the shipping companies sometimes don't pick up packages, higher-ups make bad decisions that customers hate and take their anger out on them. My point is these employees are underpaid, understaffed, work too many hours, and have to deal with so much crap from decisions that are beyond their own. Cut them some slack and be friendly to them, if you are they try to help you out the best they can.

Also, this is from both personal experience and recommendations. Never buy anything online, customer service sucks, and clearance items cannot be returned, so take a good look before purchasing. If you want to buy POP Figures, understand the longer they are in the stores the more damaged they may be/have stickers on them. If you buy the last copy of a NEW game, the case is out on display so they can have a live update to the customers on whether they have the game or not, the game is never played or used, just "gutted" to have a display case (they need to put a clear seal sticker on the "gutted" case when sold). If you complain about a preowned game case being damaged or replaced with the GameStop generic cover art, understand that it was previously owned, so that's why the case my be damaged, or the game was brought in with a lack of a case so they had to create one. Last thing, please make friends with the employees, the nicer you are to them the more they will try to help you, even will give you some of the posters from around the store when taken down.

Went in to sell a ps4 pro, this scrawny twig dude wearing women's clothes and pink nail polish and cat ears.
He was already serving a customer no problem, but instead of just wrapping it up he has them going around the shop picking out another game for the deal, this takes 10 minutes before the kid decides during this time instead of serving me he serves 2 people that came in after me.(one of which he lost the customers funk pop that was ordered to the store"
Im patient no problem
So it asks me for my phone number, tell them no
"But its my job man!"
Sorry, but no.
Shoots the pitch third time anyway.
Then goes on to tell me about the power reward, tell him please don't give me any pitches.
Still pitched it another 2 times.
I get just the dues job.
Now he's silent wont say a word
I ask if it will be cash they got rude and said
"i figured you just wanted cash since you didn't wanna hear me talk"
Dude then drops the price from the ps4 pro from 175, to $85
Tells me its for dust and missing parts
It was missing a rubber stopper that did nothing (1 cm wide piece of plastic you never even see"
The dust came off with my finger
I ask about the parts nicely and he just got rude about and told me he could take it "if i didn't live like trash"

Tldr had a cross dresser serve customers that came in after me before serving me
They got rude for asking questions politely never raised my tone
Cut the price of a trade in by $90/50% for small dust and basically a screw cover then got an attitude about it
Stopped them on the first sale pitch, but still gave another 5 despite being told to stop, then it got an attitude as a result.

Gamestop
March 30, 2015

GameStop is a good store. They have everything that I love which is video games. The reason I'm reviewing this store because this is one of my favorite stores. The reasons I like this store are I like what they sell, their location, and their availability. I will give GameStop a nine out of ten review over all.
The first reason I like it is what they sell. The first thing they sell are video games, and that's all I play is video games, so it's a perfect store for me. The other things they sell are consoles, and they are always up to date with them, and that is good thing. The next things they sell are accessories for them, and some examples are game cleaner, console covers, and cases for ds games. I will give a rating for what they sell a ten out of ten.
The next reason is their location. The closest one to me is in Charlottesville, VA, and it's roughly thirty to forty minutes away. They also have stores all over the Unites States. They have very few in other places around the world. They would even have two in the same city. I will give their location a review rating of nine out of ten, because they need to make a new one more closer to me and more location.
The last reason is their availability. One way to access the store is that you can walk in the store, and buy stuff. They have at least one hundred games, 40 consoles, and three hundred or more things for games and consoles. You can also go online and buy stuff by them shipping it to you or by you going and picking up. You can also buy pre-owned things or trade in your game or whatever for something new or used. When you buy things online, you must have a credit or debit card to buy things online. So I will give this a review of ten out of ten.
The best parts of GameStop are what they sell, their location, and even their availability. I like this store because they only sell what I love. One last thing is that you can buy used video games which are way cheaper than new ones. So overall I will give GameStop a review of nine out of ten. So hopefully GameStop can fix these little problems.

Just don't even bother
July 14, 2023

Dealing with GameStop over the last maybe 20 years has been more of a hate relationship than love. They get you cause of ease and proximity. Usually you can find a store within a decent radius of your home. The problem with GameStop is they're a legitimate company with scammer and deceiving tendencies. There will always be a problem if you deal with them, they will find a way to do you wrong or at least my local store in collingdale pennsylvania. Recently I was looking for extra storage for my ps5. They didn't have the one I was looking for so the employee told me and I was ready to buy my game and leave. GameStops manager jumps in and says they do have one and she proceeded to sell me one that does hook up to the ps5 but it doesn't allow you to play ps5 games off the storage drive. By the time I realized the thing was just putting my games back in my game storage and creating storage issues, it was too late. So I am now dealing with a dispute as per usual and I've decided to never deal with gamestop again and tell ppl to just not engage hoping to save them from the pain and strife of dealing with gamestop, they're poor customer service that's essentially there to talk to you and do nothing else and the in store help that is worse than the help of a child gamer online. Please just do not even deal with gamestop if you know what's good for you, they will steal your money every time. GameStop has responded to me by saying it was out of date, that it is compatible with that drive but when I look it up it clearly says you're only able to archive your ps5 games on the drive. I've added a couple photos for help. Something their manager should've let me know before selling it to me for so much money. Please, don't buy from GameStop, go somewhere else where they care about the customer
