G7 Computers helped me fix a terrible limp mode issue with my 2006 Audi A6 Quattro 4.2
December 10, 2021

These are honest people who perform a valuable service that is badly needed in this age of high-priced dealer upsells to higher and over-priced services and parts. My Audi transmission was always slipping if I applied any power at all to it, so I was limited to short trips on city streets. If I tried to use a freeway, the car would go into limp mode and over-rev the engine if I was on the freeway. To fix this I had to pull over to the far right lane of the freeway, stop the car and the engine, restart the engine, and try to get back into traffic. I was very stressed every time I needed to use the freeway, always trying to give as little power as possible to the engine so the transmission would not slip. I could not back up unless the ground was really flat.
First I bought a used transmission, but the car would not move. The dealer told me I would need to either buy a new transmission for $6000 or I could try to program the newer mechatronics with a 50% chance of success for $500 to $650 to start and go from there. Instead, I had my old mechatronics unit placed in the newer transmission. The car could be driven, but just as before, with frequent slipping, limp mode, and needing to stop the car to take the car out of limp mode. Clearly, the problem was not the quality or age of the transmission.
Instead of paying the dealer $6000 for a new transmission, or paying the dealer $500 to start, possibly in vain to attempt to program the newer mechatronics, I sent just the electronics to G7 Computers. They found a software flaw and repaired it and returned the electronics to me. In less than a week the repaired unit was returned to me and ready to be assembled to the valve body and installed in the vehicle. To be fair, I also changed the solenoid valves during this time.
When the transmission was put back together, everything worked as it should! No more limp mode, no more failure to be able to back up, no more hard shifting! I was elated and to this day I am delighted that I had the opportunity to work with G7 Computers. I still can hardly believe that this is the same car that was giving me headaches just to drive it on the freeway a few months ago. Now I drive 50 miles a day on the freeways taking my son to and from school. I sit back with the car in cruise control and relaxedly go to and from his school. Before this, I could never use cruise control on this trip because the transmission could not take the extra power needed to go up small elevations.
I unconditionally recommend this company in strongest terms to anyone who has a problem such as I had.

Tip for consumers:

If you are unsure, as I was, correspond with the owner by email. He is responsive and will honestly tell you what the company can offer in your specific case. This a good place to do business with. They ship back the computer quickly with good packing. You can relax and have peace of mind with them.
