For all the ways it's possible to suck...FTD
May 13, 2023

Name a company that's synonymous with the delivery of flowers from one part of the country to another. FTD, right? I'm guessing there must have been a time when this company was on its game - you can see their decal, prominently displayed in a flower-shop window in the Hitchcock classic suspense film "Vertigo" from 1958. But of course, it ain't 1958 no more...it's Mother's Day weekend, 2023. I put in an order for some flowers and cheesecake bites for my mom about a week ago - spent over $200 on the combo, with delivery to Raleigh, North Carolina, scheduled for what's now yesterday (Friday, 12 May). As of last night, I found out the cheesecake bites had arrived - but not the flowers. This despite having received two emails from FTD, both announcing my order had been delivered. Around 8pm last night, I call FTD to determine the status of the flowers. I'm guessing I got their call center in Hyderabad or somewhere - the Indian woman's English was borderline unintelligible. She claimed the "delivery window" for Friday, 12 May was still considered "open" until 9pm. So okay...around 1pm today, I find out the flowers still haven't been delivered - called FTD again, got another barely intelligible Indian woman. Since they've already missed the scheduled delivery date, and Sunday actually IS Mother's Day, I told her I wanted delivery to happen TODAY (Saturday, 13 May). However, with effectively half the business day left, and multiple local floral-delivery options available in Raleigh, she insisted that their "agent" wasn't able to make a delivery happen today. Basically, my options were either to trust FTD to make a delivery happen on Sunday - or get a refund (which sounds nice, but doesn't deliver flowers to my mom, which is the whole point AND the only reason I'm in contact with FTD in the first place).

This crap - after they've had literally a week to make all the necessary internal arrangements. AND I know the info I gave them was correct, because the damn cheesecake bites got where they were supposed to go, by the appointed day.

I demanded to speak with the woman's supervisor - turned out said supervisor was "not available" (I bet).

I was holding for the supervisor - pissed off and wanting to dump all over whoever that might be...and then I thought, "this isn't solving my problem." So I just hung up, contacted the highest-rated Raleigh-local florist with a delivery option I could find, and placed another order with them. They might end up delivering on Sunday too, but that I can understand, given when they received the order.

Anyway, yeah - FTD sucks, in pretty much every way possible. They make elementary mistakes on deliveries, communicate false information about said deliveries, lack basic accountability (supervisor "not available"), and demonstrably do not care about giving their customers what they advertise/promise. From a straight-up capitalistic/Darwinistic perspective, they deserve to be out of business, and if this little review helps make that happen, then yippee.

HORRIBLE and bunch of crooks!
August 29, 2022

What a bunch of crooks!

I ordered flowers on 7/27 through Legacy.com /FTD for a funeral on 7/31/22. I wasn't thinking much of it that it would not get delivered because I got a confirmation email stating that it was delivered on 7/31. After a month goes and I thought I would get a thank you of some sorts. I did not receive any thanks which was weird because it was a family I was close with since 1985. So I reached out to my friend whose father passed and asked if they received flowers from me. He said they didn't get any flowers. I was pissed! So I sent a contact us saying they did not get the flowers so let me know.

I get a reply back saying..."Thank you for contacting us. We apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations (nor our standards!), and we would like to rectify this immediately by sending a re-delivery order at equal or greater value to your original order. Please reply with the following information and we will work to secure the soonest available delivery date:..."

Are they nuts? What a bunch of idiots! They wanted to deliver the flowers a month after the funeral? When I replied back saying I want a refund then they replied by saying...

"We regret to inform you that, despite our best efforts, we were unable to complete the delivery of your order due to the time constraints of the funeral service. We apologize for the notification of this inconvenience via e-mail, but we were unable to reach you at the phone number provided."

How could they not have my email or my phone Number!?!?!?!?! I ordered through them online!

Then I get an email from another person saying..." According to our records your order was successfully delivered on 7/31 at 11:26am. The delivery address provided on your order is Frank A. Patti & Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main St Fort Lee, NJ *******. Per your request, we have provided a full refund. Due to our no hassle policy, we provided the refund in full without any hassle. If you require further assistance, please contact us directly at *******383."

I replied back saying that I got a delivery confirmation as well. So I am getting different stories from them! How I took that response was that they didn't believe that the flower wasn't delivered just by starting off the reply by stating that the flowers WAS delivered! Very passive aggressive response from FTD! I took it as they think the family LIED about NOT getting the flowers OR I am lying about it just so I can get a refund or something! How low would they think especially for a funeral flowers? RU kidding me? If I didn't reach out to them, THEY WOULD HAVE TOOK MY MONEY WITHOUT FLOWERS!

Tip for consumers:

DO not use FTD! Crooks!

Not Surprisingly Awful
February 14, 2021

I have been on the phone concerning this order since 7:45AM Est. I have spoken with FTD twice and UPS once. This was ordered on 2/3 and a label was not created until 2/9. I own a online business and this is not acceptable, ever! The order was supposed to be delivered on 2/12 and now according to UPS will not be delivered until 3/15. I specifically placed the order early (2/3) to make sure the order would arrive on time due to the fact that 9 out of 10 times when I order from FTD there is a problem. I am a gold member for many years to avoid shipping. I'm finding it not to be worth the problems.
The first phone call this morning I spoke with someone named Tyler/Taylor not sure. He said he couldn't do anything except refund me. I said fine and I was assured that the order would not be cancelled more than once. I also told him that the handling of this was not acceptable and I was then transferred to his "manager". I was told she couldn't do anything and to call UPS. I did and was told they couldn't do anything and to call FTD. This is by no means an issue with UPS. This is an issue that was caused by FTD not creating a label for 6 days after the order was received.
I called FTD back at 9:20AM and was once again not only told they could do nothing about our daughter receiving this before Monday but when the first associate refunded the order it was cancelled even after he assured me it wouldn't be. I once again stated this was not acceptable and at this point I was rather irate. I was connected with another manager and was basically told that the only thing I could do was to call and reorder. How is this acceptable? FTD didn't create a shipping label for 6 days. FTD cancelled the order when they told me they wouldn't. At every step FTD was at fault and now was refusing to make this right. Finally I was told that the order wasn't cancelled but would still be delivered on 2/15. Seriously? This is why I called to begin with.
In no way is any of this acceptable and truthfully I would not be surprised if the order is never received. To say that I am irate is an understatement. This is not acceptable and as a online business owner I can tell you it is a horrible example of customer service.

UPDATE: Just received a phone call *******@ftdflowers. Was told that they sent an email to me yesterday in response. After telling them I didn't receive anything & confirming they had the correct email, I proceeded to check my inbox, spam & trash folders. Of course there was no email. Wasn't the first time I had issues with FTD but it will be the last.

No Customer Service
February 23, 2018

On 2/6/18 I took advantage of Valentines Day special from FTD and ordered my wife a dozen red roses to be delivered on Valentines Day. Friday, 2/9/18 I received a call that my 87 year old mother had taken a turn for the worse and I needed to leave for New York immediately. I went to the FTD website and attempted the change the delivery address as no one would be home to receive the flowers and I wanted there to be a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time. I get an email response on 2/10/18 telling me that the goal is to be as flexible as possible with order changes my order of a perishable item that isnt due to be delivered for another 5 days is already shipped, or in the process of being shipped or delivered I cant cancel the order, so I call customer service to explain that I dont want cancel just reroute.
I get the customer service rep on the line and explain I want to change the address not cancel the order. I get the email response. I explain the reason and am still told no. After asking why, in the information age, an electronic cant be changed when it wasnt shipped until 2/13/18. After pointing that out, the rep then tells me I can change the address if I pay an additional 29% of the cost of the flowers. Might seem like much to FTD, but it is to a retired person. So I either pay the ransom or we come home to a box of dead roses instead of red. I agreed with the ransom and figure end of story.
On 2/11/18 I get an email telling me I cant modify or cancel my order. I immediately again call customer service, I asking when my order couldnt be changed when I agreed to pay for it. The rep agreed it would be changed and I again repeated the new address. 30 minutes later I get an email from Kenneth John at FTD we are happy to inform you that we will be able to make the change(s) that you requested and your order will arrive without delay. Great, proof in writing, one less worry.
2/12/18, I receive an email from Monic (sic) requesting additional recipient information from you to deliver your order. Back on the phone immediately, responding customer service has idea who Monic is but will help me. After conquering the language barrier, I was assured that the new delivery address in the system. I was very appreciative as I didnt have the time to for this nonsense. I see the email header that my order shipped but was very busy and took FTD at its word. In all the confusion on 2/14/18, I didnt realize the flowers hadnt delivered until a saw the delivery confirmation which stated that the package was left on a porch. My wife was very disappointed she had no pictures to post for her friends to see.
Needless to say I wont rely on FTD in the future nor will I endorse using them in any capacity. There is an old saying in business, a satisfied customer tells their friends, a dissatisfied customer tells everyone.

Be smarter than the fox!
February 21, 2018

Im sorry you all had bad experiences. My experience was just as yours with the no callbacks and different people in different countries answering my calls. I attempted 5 times to call and get a refund for an order that was never delivered.

I decided to turn it up a notch on them and googled their IP address information. They are hosted on godaddy. I will attach the rest of the info below. Anyway, after getting the company information. I called again, this time pretending to be an attorney representing my client me. Gave them the order number and they looked it up. The operator began the cycle of the shop will call you back. At that point I stopped her and said I have your IP address, etc etc. and I will contact godaddy.com, ICANN, BBB, and other internet control entities to have your site shut down! She paused, and the gave me *******032 (Connecticut) which is supposed to be the people who process their payments. I called that number with my same lawyer sounding jargon. The operator immediately apologized and even said they get complaints of Eflowers and recommends calling my card company to dispute the charge. She made a note saying Attorney called for client, will file suit if refund is not immediate. He has internet provider information and contact with BBB, ICANN, and IANA.

20 minutes later my money was refunded to my bank. Go figure. Lol. We have to be smarter than these scammers guys. Dont settle for the loss, get your hard earned money back! Below is the IP information:

I ordered flowers for my wife and she never received them. They charged me, but have yet to respond to my calls, emails, and automated service on their website for a refund. No flowers, but they still charged me with any way to get a refund. Theft! I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE FTC and recommend others do as well. www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!
February 14, 2016

I was beyond upset by the flowers that were sent. THEY WERE NOT THE FLOWERS THAT I ORDERED! I read the fine print and it said something along the lines of: "we are allowed to substitute if something is not available." This would have been okay if I had not had ORDERED TWO DIFFERENT LOOKING BOUQUETS and RECEIVED IDENTICAL CRAPPY ONES. I understand substituting is necessary in some cases. However, I find it hard to believe that they ran out of roses near valentine's day. Why should I pay for ROSES and receive HALF DEAD CARNATIONS? The ribbons that were in the picture didn't even match what I got! Do not rob people with false advertisement! If the flowers are going to be that different from "substitutions", have good customer service and CALL OR EMAIL someone and let them know! I would have canceled them if I knew someone would have received that GARBAGE! Not only did I receive half dead flowers that I did not order, ONLY ONE OF MY MESSAGE CARDS CAME! I ordered flowers for TWO different people and because you did not put my two message cards on with TWO DIFFERENT NAMES, ONE person kept BOTH FLOWERS! I did not have a gift for the other person like a jerk. How can I tell the person who kept both that they weren't both for them!? This was SO UNPROFESSIONAL! When I pay a company decent money (nearly $70) I should get what I paid for! How can you mess up message cards?! I was infuriated when I received the call thanking me for the flowers but I did not have to send TWO SETS! Would NOT RECOMMEND! Just because I did not spend hundreds on valentine's day flowers does not mean I should not have received what I paid for!

P.S. Although I did not select sympathy as the occasion, I ordered flowers for one of the people because their MOTHER COMMITTED SUICIDE and they are having a hard time. Guess what? They were the one who did NOT receive the flowers because THEY did NOT put the message card I ordered!

THIS IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE WEBSITE:...
February 15, 2013

THIS IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE WEBSITE: FTD.COM THEY TOOK A FLOWER DELIVERY ORDER, ONE DAY BEFORE VALENTINES, SENT A CONFIRMATION EMAIL STATING "SATISFACTION GUARANTEED", AND ON ACTUAL VALENTINES AT 4:45pm THEY CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THEY RUN OUT OF FLOWERS BUT THEY CAN DELIVER THEM THE NEXT DAY AND OFFER TO GIVE ME A $20 COUPON FOR THE LITTLE INCONVENIENCE! IF YOU TELL ME THE DAY BEFORE YOU SOMEHOW OVERBOOKED DELIVERIES, IT'S FINE I CAN FIND ANOTHER WAY TO GET IT DONE, BUT ON VALENTINE'S!? 15 MINUTES BEFORE 5 PM WHEN ALL THE DAMN FLOWER STORES CLOSE! THIS COMPANY IS A REALLY BAD JOKE. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SHADY F$&@#% WEBSITE, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING, TAKING WAY MORE ORDERS THEY CAN HANDLE HOPING SOME CUSTOMERS WILL TAKE THE CUPON AND SPEND MORE MONEY WITH THEM! WHAT'S THE DAMN POINT TO SEND THE FLOWERS THE NEXT DAY? SO IT LOOKS LIKE WE FORGOT TO SEND A GIFT AND WE'RE TRYING TO MAKE IT UP? THIS PEOPLE DON'T EVEN HAVE FLOWERS, THEY DO TAKE YOUR MONEY IN ONE SECOND FROM ILLINOIS BUT THEY HIRE LOCAL SHOPS AL OVER THE US AND CANADA TO DROP OFF THE FLOWERS, NO WONDER WHY THERE'S SO MANY COMPLAINS ABOUT THE ARRANGEMENT NOT LOOKING LIKE THE ONE ON THE PICTURE... LOCAL GROWERS PROBABLY JUST GET A TEXT MSG: 12ROSES + BASE + ADDRESS. BTW I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOOK THEM 75 MINUTES TO PICK UP AND TELL ME THE LOCAL STORES IN MIAMI ARE NOT PICKING UP THE PHONE... SO EITHER I TAKE THE $20 CUPON AND THEY DELIVER THE NEXT DAY OR I GET MY MONEY BACK...
I'M SURE THERE'S WAY MORE PEOPLE THAT GOT SCREWED BY THIS WEBSITE. AGAIN SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR RELATIONSHIPS AND DON'T DEAL WITH THIS CLOWNS/

February 15, 2011

To start, FTD.com partnered with Groupon for a $40 gift certificate for $20. After purchasing that, I headed to their website, and after choosing (an admittedly deceiving picture) flowers, proceeded to checkout. After scouring every checkout page, there was not one place to enter a coupon code (that Groupon said would be on the checkout page) -- Shady practice from FTD because I've seen the coupon box before but it just wasn't on these pages.

I then decided to call. The woman on the phone took my coupon code, filled out my order (incorrectly reporting the price several times, and forgetting to actually apply the coupon until I said something) but assured me that since I was paying an inflated delivery charge for Valentine's Day (my own words... she called it "Premium Delivery") the arrangement would be delivered on time.

Needless to say this was a surprise, which I then had to ruin when it never showed up. I spent more than an hour on hold to speak with someone who suggested the flowers "might be delivered tomorrow" and he could offer 15% because he (barely) valued my continued business. I protested that 15% wouldn't even cover delivery and he immediately said 20% was the best he could do. He said the florist was closed, things like this happen, and it shouldn't be a big deal if they were delivered tomorrow.

In the grand scheme of things, he's absolutely right... flowers delivered on a seemingly random day of the year isn't really a big deal... but when you pay enormously inflated prices (and premium delivery charges) for what are usually sub par flowers thinking these people know what they are doing and will be staffed appropriately to handle this, you expect to get what you pay for... In this case, I didnt get anything for my money yet.

UPDATE: After another day passing with no flowers delivered, I called to ask for a full refund. The rep I dealt with asked me my name, order number, and the reason for the call. I calmly read the order number, paused to make sure he got it, spelled my name, and then proceeded to describe my situation. He then said "I see, can I have your name and order number to access the account". Calmly, I read it again, and he asked me what my issue was. I explained again that the flowers hadn't been delivered for the second day in a row, to which he responded "I see, well were the flowers not satisfactory when they arrived?"... shockingly to me, I kept my cool and explained that they had NOT arrived, but the only way for FTD to make this right was to send them tomorrow AND give me a near full refund of my money. He said he would check with the florist and get back to me. I then said that I wanted a full refund too, which he said he would do, but when I asked him to put that in writing somewhere he didn't respond at first, but then decided to tell me that I would get an email confirmation (12+ hours later - no confirmation). I then asked him his name and he told me that the email confirmation would be enough to verify the convo (should have tipped me off).

He basically wasn't listening to me at all, and spitting out canned lines from what I can assume was an automated "Customer Service Speech Generator" unrelated to my complaints. He then started his final speech "Thank you for choosing FTD, my name is Van (editor's note... there's no way his name was Van without it being short for something much longer -- but progress... a name at least... odd that he withheld it before!) please have a great day"

I have no doubt nothing was accomplished on this phone call, but I'm doing what I can to allow FTD to make this right... so far they are just digging a bigger hole...
