“ALWAYS Very Happy With FreeShipping!”

Cheryl G.
1/16/24

I was a user of FreeShipping.com. I was a member for over 8 years at $13/mo. I LOVED using their site. Every month I received a check and only once was it less than $13. Most of the time, I received $30-80/month. It is so easy to get 10% back when you make a purchase. It automatically happens when you go to the store through their site. IF you have to pay shipping, then you fill out an online form and send their rebate dept. the info. It takes less than 5 min and I hate paying shipping, so was always well worth it. The only reason I am no longer a member as of 2 months ago is because I have cut back on my online buying, and since they raised their monthly price to $20 now, I would need to purchase at least $200/mo online to break even. I probably do that much of the time, but may not in the future. They don't have all of the online only sites, but do have many and just about all of the brick and mortar stores as well. There is no contract, so I say join and try it out. If you don't at least break even after a couple of months, then discontinue.

Freeshipping.com is a scam. I give the worst review for FreeShipping.com due to their unethical conduct and terrible services. They failed to honor a 10% cash back as posted on their website ads and canceled my new membership (only opened for 3 days) after asking for 10% cash back on a full-price order. The customer representatives were rude and lacked knowledge about the products and services they offered. Stay away, do not sign up for Freeshipping.com membership.

Most of the negative reviews I've seen here have been from people not knowing there was a subscription fee. They state their fees literally right on the front page of the website, as well as in their registration form. If you didn't read past the "free shipping" part, that's kind of on you.

If you order things online a lot and have tons of free time to wade through each retailer's list of exceptions, this service should pay for itself several times over throughout the year. Personally, it's a little too much work for me, but I can see how it would be useful for someone else.

I have been a member for a number of years and this actually turned out to be a good deal for me because I buy almost everything on line. I had cancelled my membership and then recently signed up again. This time I have had some issues receiving cash back for purchases. I have written three times and still have no answer. So, not so happy this time around.

Was satisfied with freeshipping.com for a couple of years but as more free shipping was offered by online sites value of membership at freeshipping.com declined. Limit of $10 per rebate request was also a reason to drop. Most disappointing was seeing more rebate requests rejected inspite of providing same type of order confirmation documentation that previously had been accepted.

I'd have to agree with "Gabrielle B's" review.
But first - I would apologize for this length however, I won't. I'm so very sick & tired of fake reviews that create a false analysis & present skewed data resulting in a forged opinion of almost every product or service we spend money on. I'm even MORE DISGUSTED however, by written reviews from people who don't deserve to write a review in the first place. (You'll need to follow along with me here to understand what that means) …
Second, My disclosure: I was in no way, form, or manner asked to or compensated for writing this review, nor am I in anyway otherwise associated with FreeShipping.com.(In fact, you're forced to "certify" this before posting a review). Just a normal, middle-age, working, living, breathing, simple human being.
‼This review will offend you if, 1 You are not particularly "technicality literate". In that case, I DO offer my apology in advance; you're just getting a free mini-lesson for future internet surfing; especially if you're making purchases. HOWEVER - you still cannot use "technically illiterate" as an excuse for not reading the fine print, or simply not reading/listening/viewing at all. (Because FreeShipping.com does clearly state & inform of its services; even courteously going so far as offering an accessible video to watch/listen to).
Or 2 You will go to your grave ‍ denying it but - you really are an individual who tries to get something for nothing. You play the stealthy "I didn't know" game when in reality, you really did know what you were doing or getting into (or had an "idea of" what was going on) but, you justify your actions because you intentionally didn't read the fine print. Or, you did but figured "no one will know", so you can play stupid when you get the charge to your card or account for services that were clearly stated you'd be charged for, hoping you'd still get away with getting that "10% CashBack", as if it were a charity service or, just a free service giving you free money for doing absolutely nothing. (Shame on you - your actions are the actions that ruin it for people who do right or really are deserving of the generosity of others [which can be anything but in this case - true reviews to make an informed decision.])
For an individual who makes frequent purchases online, or especially one who purchases for a family, I can see this being very valuablefor sure! And I did a little math - it can add up quickly - definitely paying for itself MANY times over. But I don't really do enough online-buying to make it worth while for me. NOTE - I could only come to that conclusion by taking a moment to Stop, Look, Listen. Don't believe (as it is obvious many 1 & 2 "reviewers" did) your getting, or think your going to get away with getting, "something for nothing". Seriously!?

Stop for a moment before clicking ANYTHING on ANY site because (first clue Watson!) if you look closely at the FreeShipping.com link you clicked on you will see "FreeShipping" & then ". COM" in tiny font making it obvious your browser is going to take you to a different URL.

If you missed that part then, (and I may need to again apologize because, well - if you are able to use the internet or surf the Web in any way - I confidently assumed the recommendations that follow were just - common sense?), anytime a new page opens - ask yourself "was I expecting that to happen"?, or look at the web address, look at the page that opens, scroll to see what's on that page, read (even fine print) what's on that page, does it look or read like anything on the prior site? You can also check your browser "tabs" (YES! Even on a mobile site - all can do this!) I see if you've actually navigated away for the original site. Etc, etc.

If at any time you even "think" you're not where you were or thought you were going; GO BACK, start over, close the page, or close your browser altogether & start from the beginning. (If you're seeing the FreeShipping.com link then your purchase has already been made so you can always go to your order!). In this case, you even get the accessible courtesy of watching the video, listening to what is said. If all else fails - listen to your gut, and if what you see/hear appears in ANY way sketchy then - shut it down, leave the page, close your browser,
OR - Do some research for goodness sake.

‼YES‼ - I clicked the FreeShipping(. Com) link from the merchants' purchase-confirmation page‼
‼Yes‼ - they are good marketers, or have great advertisers; at first glance I thought it was related to the merchant.

But -
Come on! - just like the grocers SALE‼ signs or, BOGO offers at the shoe store or, Rewards from Kohl's or Walgreens or, Points at Ulta or on my credit card purchases - you get lured in one way or another! I don't see anywhere in which FreeShipping.com does anything that any other brick-and-mortar, small business owner, or online merchant wouldn't do. That's what advertising & marketing does!

SEEING that it took me to a completely different URL, I read some information on the page. It was quite obvious it had nothing to do with the merchant I made my purchase from but, as most would be - I was intrigued. So, I read on, watched the video, and did a little research. If I made more purchases online this would be a great deal. But, I don't do enough so I didn't enter anymore information and I left the page. All in all this is really kinda brilliant - and I can see that this has the potential to be a great way to save and for retailers to retain customers. And, if you keep track of receipts (like for taxes) or orders like many people do, you can earn some real coin. If my shopping habits change in the future I will definitely keep this service in mind!

Tip for consumers:
Stop, look, listen and read.

Products used:
Through a merchant online purchase.

This is more of a warning and not a rating, because I didn't actually use the website because they are deceptive and shady. They will charge you a monthly fee but will put it in apparently microscopic print so you actually do not know about it. Plain and simple, if a company is going to charge any sort of monthly fee to its customers, it should be made obviously apparent. The fact they put it in the fine print and emphasize the aspects of free shipping and rewards shows that their goal is to trick and deceive, there is no other explanation. Again, don't know how the website is, maybe it's nifty, but be vigilant.

Interesting; after I complained about what I thought was a scam charge on my credit card by freeshipping.com, a few hours later I received emails from the company to tell me they had reversed the charges on my credit card which I had already reported to the credit card company as a fraudulent charge and which required me to have a new credit card issued. Not sure what to conclude from that but I have a few ideas

This company has been in business for around 20 years. I don't believe that they could stay in business for that long if they were doing anything illegal. Especially to the extent that some people are claiming. I find it hard to believe that so many people say that they didn't know they were signing up for a service that charges a monthly fee. They ask you for your credit card information, what did you think they were asking that for? They clearly state that they will start billing you after the trial period ends. Okay, so that info isn't in huge, bold, black letters covering half the page but it isn't in such "small print" that you can't see it either. I just now signed up for the service after making a purchase on King Size. The box offering free shipping and a rebate popped up and I this time I decided to check it out. When it asked for my CC number I made sure to look for why it wanted that info considering that they were offering to give me free shipping and a rebate % on my purchase. It clearly stated that there was a 7 day trial period for $2 dollars and then a automatic monthly membership fee of about $13 after that. There was no trickery or scamming going on, just a business transaction that I had to pay attention to in order to benefit from it. I have decided to cancel my membership after just the one use and before the trial ends. Not because I find their service to be fraudulent in any way but rather because I don't shop online often enough to make it worthwhile for me and because I don't feel like doing all of the due diligence necessary to make it work for me. You have to make sure that you are shopping on a site that they have partnered with to begin with, which from what I understand means going to their site first, but in either case, once you have finished shopping and made your purchase and checked out you then have to fill out a form to request the free shipping and the rebate and attach "proof of purchase" such as a receipt, packing slip or order confirmation. This is pretty much standard practice for ANY rebate from ANY where for ANY thing. Then you either email or mail it all to freeshipping.com and wait for your rebate. Again pretty much standard practice. From what I can see after having read a little over 100 negative reviews it all boils down to this. People are upset because THEY didn't pay attention when THEY were plugging in their CC info. They didn't bother to read the (not really all that small) small print. They don't want to be bothered by all of the steps that they have to go through to collect any monies from the company. It seems that everyone is looking for a free shipping option where all that they have to do is point and lick a couple of times and that's it, it's all done for them. Freeshipping.com isn't that option. It takes a little bit of patience and paying attention and just a smidgen of actual work. I am honest enough to admit that I am basically just too LAZY to want to do even that small amount of work. I did it for this one order from King Size and it wasn't really all that hard once I figured out the process which is actually fairly easy if you just follow the instructions. I estimate (ball park figure) that I could probably save a couple of hundred bucks per year, even after the $156/yr in monthly membership fees but like I said I'm just too lazy to be bothered. That having been said however, for those people who are willing to put in a little bit of time, and who do enough online shopping, it is readily apparent that there is over $1,000 too be made/saved by using freeshipping.com. First by saving up to $10 in shipping costs/per order and second by getting a rebate of up to 10% on each purchase. You can get a rebate on shipping costs when you shop online, you can also get a shipping costs rebate if you have to return an item after you get it. Also you can apparently search the freeshipping.com website for local stores that have partnered with them and if you link your CC or Debit card to your freeshipping.com account then you can get a rebate when you use your linked card at that local store. Of course it's NOT automatic you still have to do your due diligence. Save your receipt and email or mail a copy of it along with the proper form from the website. Consider it like a part time job, do the work and get paid for the work. In this case your "wages" are in the form of rebates. At this time I have too much else going on in my life to want to spend time keeping track of my purchases and receipts both on and offline and which stores work with freeshipping.com and which don't (there are suspossedly over 1,000) and then fill out the rebate request forms and submit then them to get my money back rewards. I could use an extra $1,000+ bucks per year but it doesn't come without a little bit of effort on my part and I am too lazy/busy to put in even that tiny effort so I am going to give this a pass for now, although I might try it again in the future. My feeling is that if you don't get anything back from this sight it is probably because you didn't take the time to make sure that all of your t's were crossed and all of your i's were dotted. Do that and you can make/save some money. You just have to decide if the effort is worth the gain. If it's not for you then don't sign up and if you did sign up because you weren't paying attention to what you were doing when you started plugging in your card numbers then don't blame someone else for your mistake, just accept that you made a mistake and move on. Also pay more attention to what you are doing with your info in the future. I just can not believe that a company could possibly sign people up without them knowing or willing giving out their CC info and get away with it for over 20 years without being prosecuted and shut down for fraud. If you read the positive reviews you can see that it does work for the people who are paying attention and follow the instructions.

I like FreeShipping.com, but you must stay involved. I've order several flower arrangements through their website and paid $14.99 for shipping. I was only reimbursed $10 each. You have to keep records and track progress. One can easily buy something and forget to follow up on rebates/cash back. I have purchased items, but they were never credited to my account even though I went through their website.

Apparently I signed up for freeshipping.com when I placed an order online with Kohl's and was supposed to cancel it before getting charged. I guess it's my fault, but I'm disappointed that Kohl's would promote something like this. Or was it Kohl's? Hmm, when I shop at Kohl's I use my Kohl's charge card but this was charged to a different card. Either way, watch out what you might agree to when trying to get that free shipping. The representative from freeshipping.com was friendly and helpful. I had no problem canceling and receiving a credit.

Hi Darren,

We're sorry to hear about the misunderstanding regarding a membership with us. It looks like you signed up with us after your purchase on Kohl's, when you were offered a 7-day free trial and $10 cash back on that purchase. Kohl's is simply one of the retailers in our network. FreeShipping.com members can get 10% cash back, free shipping, free returns, price protection, and exclusive coupons while shopping at Kohl's through the links on our site. The monthly membership fee comes from us and is in no way issued by Kohl's. This monthly fee is agreed to at sign up, after users accept the terms that state the charge will be issued if you do not cancel your account within your trial period. If a user would like to continue using the benefits we offer, they will be subject to the monthly fee. If not, members must cancel their account within their trial period to avoid the monthly charge. This information is stated on the sign up page, directly above where users enter their credit card information, in our terms of use, which must be agreed to before completing the sign up process, and in the welcome email each new member receives after signing up with us.

We are happy to hear you had a positive experience with our customer service department! If you have any other questions, please feel free to email help@freeshipping.com for further assistance. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Emailed the Freeshipping.com Representative and haven't heard back from them so I suspect they didn't really mean what they wrote in a reply to my review offering a full refund.

If they offer a full refund I'm willing to edit and upgrade my review of freeshipping. However if it's BS then I stand by my one star review of freeshipping.com

Freeshipping.com deleted my freeshipping account and sent an e-mail about they would issue a refund for approx. $52.00 out of the $190.00+ dollars charged my visa credit card.

This company needs to be reported to your attorney general of the state of which you reside as their business practice is illegal.

Tip for consumers:
Amount I was charged was refunded so everything is ok.

I don't remember signing up for free shipping.com and my Visa Credit Card was charge $12.97 for 15 months without me being aware it was being charged. I haven't actually every used their service.

Adding the charges up total came to$194.55 of which I received 15 x refunds for $12.97

I'm only giving a three star review as I've never used their service and unable to comment any further about it.

Note: Once you sign up for this service there will be no monthly notice or billing involved which may lead to not being aware your signed up for their freeshipping service which AFAIK are shipping fee rebates and not actually discounts on shipping.

When this popped up after an eBay purchase, of course I checked it out. When I read the FAQS I decided that it wasn't for me, as the cost is $12.99 a month. I don't pay that much per month for shipping. But for someone who does that much online shopping, it is a good deal. People... you NEED to read the info given to you before ya start signing up for stuff! To anyone who says they didn't know what they were signing up for, buyer beware. If you only see "free $10" that's your fault. Read. Everything.

Must admit, tho' I hate to, I must not have read carefully enough when I supposedly signed up for free shipping. However, after a few months of the same recurring charge, which I assumed incorrectly was an Amazon Prime charge, I called Free Shipping. The customer service rep readily agreed to rebate all my charges and cancel the account. Be aware - the promo is very subtle. I give it 3 stars only because the customer service was 5 star.

I wrote an earlier post about being scammed out of $204. Freeshipping.com and Proflowers both contacted me. Free shipping.com DID refund my money. I will still say, read the fine print and it should be OBVIOUS when ordering from ProFlowers and signing up for a rebate that your are PASSED to Freeshipping.com But... they did make this right. Good for them.

Do not use. IF you do READ the FINE PRINT and Wonder how you got to this site

Very time consuming to keep track that they record all your purchases. If you use a store's coupon, you don't get the rebate. I would join for the christmas season when i do a lot of shopping online, but don't know if they will allow me.

The whiners who are complaining that the "knew nothing" about those "mystery" $12.97 charges failed to read this on Main Page of the Site:

Offer Details
Start your NO COST 30-day review with our compliments. If you decide not to continue your FreeShipping.com membership, simply log on to cancel during your review. Otherwise, we'll automatically extend FreeShipping.com benefits for just $12.97 a month, billed to the credit card you authorize. Your credit card will not be charged during your review period.
I know because I pulled the same bonehead stunt with another Site. You MUST read the fine print. I would suggest that a law or regulation be passed that states that with offers like this that it be illegal to continue billing you if you do NOT respond. Only if you give a positive confirmation that you wish to continue. I imagine that companies with these policies make big profits off the people who don't check their Bank Statements regularly. If i's any consolation, it cost me $240 because DirecTV automatically renews "subscriptions" 6 months after the season ended. So I now put alerts/reminders in my Google Calendar 30 days before the season starts, both texts & emails telling me to make sure that I don't get hosed..

Towards the end of my 7-day trial offer I decided I probably wouldn't use the service - but I couldn't find how to cancel on their website, so I slipped into day 8 and was, of course, billed. I did finally figure it out (the HELP menu), so after I cancelled on day 8, I wrote Customer Service and explained it was not intuitive to go to a HELP menu to find my Account information (and suggested they change that feature to something more straightforward); and I requested a refund on my first month billing. They got back to me 9 hours later - on a weekend - and issued a courtesy refund, indicating the refund would post to my account in 2-3 days. I haven't seen any action on the $10 cashback (documentation from Ebay purchase sent in 11/21) - but their submission confirmation said "We will review the documentation provided in the order it was received, and your claim will be processed within 3-6 weeks" - so I will be patient. In all - so far a very positive experience!
