I recently experienced exceptional customer support at Freelancer.com that I wish to commend. Reaching out through their live chat, I was quickly connected with a representative, demonstrating Freelancer.com's commitment to prompt service. The representative, Jewel, provided a warm and attentive response, thoroughly understanding my issue without rushing the conversation. Their expertise shone through as they offered clear, actionable solutions, simplifying complex procedures with ease.

“Freelancer does not protect their clients from being ripped off by Freelancers!”

John B.

I'm out of pocket for hundreds of dollars and I have no digital selling website I can use. This Freelancer website has no protection in place for clients ripped off by Freelancers. You can't trust a system that doesn't protect their clients! You simply have no way of knowing whom to trust. The Freelancer Company ignored my pleas for a full refund of all fees paid to the Freelancer under Australian law for a service she never delivered. This site operates more like a scam company with no protection in place for people that do the honest thing.

Customer support is a joke. The payment system is even worse. I've been going back on forth on a support ticket for months now only to receive copy paste answers from the "support team". They do not help, they do not care. As for the "freelancers"? Just avoid. Avoid the website at all costs.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid them.

The absolute worst and most poorly organized freelancing platform-company in the world. 90% of registered freelancers are fraudsters, pretending to be who they are not, seriously missing deadlines and causing big problems. Support service unprofessional, doing everything to not return your deposit for which you have not received the promised service. I do not recommend!

Them first deducted the amount from the card and a person message to give about 100(I'm not sure the amount) dollars to upgrade the account,I have overall experience that freelancers like me are not earning but freelancer app developer are earning by charging the verification or tick mark of your account as Upwork and fiver gave you the same and better facility free of cost!
I'm deleting this app!
And posting my worst experience with it on LinkedIn

I signed up as a customer and chose a freelancer to do some photoshop editing. Once we agreed on a price for the project, I had to put a deposit down, then I was asked a ton of personal information aside from just supplying a credit card for payment. Of course I declined, but was charged a bunch of fees that I've been unable to get refunded.
Used Upwork instead. All they require (like most normal businesses) is a credit card on file.

I recently faced challenges on Freelancer.com and want to share my experience. Initially, my time on the platform was positive as I connected with clients and offered my freelance services. However, my account was unexpectedly restricted, and the platform's response lacked clarity, leaving me uncertain about alleged violations. Additionally, I encountered delays in withdrawing earnings. I believe Freelancer.com should focus on:

Clear communication about alleged violations and account restrictions.
Timely access to earned funds.
Efficient customer support.

I hope my feedback contributes to platform improvements for a more supportive and transparent experience.

Tip for consumers:
Yes, I would like to emphasize the importance of transparent communication and efficient customer support on platforms like Freelancer.com. These elements are crucial for a positive experience for freelancers and clients alike. I hope that my feedback contributes to improvements in the platform's services, creating a more supportive and transparent environment for all users.

Freelancer.com finally agreed to my same documents I submitted before and did release my money. Credit goes to Sitejabber.com indeed, in propagating voice like us for an honest cause and help innocent freelancer/s like me from being cheated by such silly portal.

Hello, Freelancer Support, Let me ask you why you don't refund money after you close an account.
I understand you can block my account because you have some rules for working. But the money should be refunded to developer or client. You decide it is illegal activity whenever payment is requested, and both the account & money go somewhere, this is definitely wrong, I think.

I don't treat you hate due to you banned me. Just be fair for all. That's it.

I hired a freelancer for 2,000$ for different coding and animation jobs. They sent me demos, I released payment, and then the freelancer deleted their account. Not only is freelancer refusing to repeal the payment they sent even though chat records on their site show what happened, but they're even refusing to provide me the information about the freelancer that they do have.

All I wanted to do was make payment to the contractor and more than an hour later, I was still filling out forms, having information rejected, and having a difficult time finding where to go to get help. Why not have a simple submit payment option and be done. I won't use Freelancer again. There are too many other services out there that make it far simpler.

freellancer.com is infringing my right to stop them from sending me emails
Besides, most the of postings are fake ones, and those 3 or 4 times are reposted by the same person. The most irritating and horrible wicked side of freelancer.com is that you can't unsubscribe or block (mine) your email. I have tried everything e.g. spam, block, filter to delete; and have more than 10 times unsubscribed but my incoming emails (inbox, spam/bin) are flooded by freelancer.com. Someone has to stop them, and even ban them for the good.

Tip for consumers:
they are frauds and scammers

Products used:
I was using their services for using their platform freelancer.com to get hired for online jobs.

But it was useless due to flooded fake job postings, so I unsubscribed multiple times, but they still sent me emails. First, it was my inbox, then my spam folder, and now my bin is flooded with their marketing and promotion emails, despite my unsubscribing and blocking them and also filtering them again and again. They look like hackers and bast...ds, never keeping respect for users'/customer's rights.

I spend 3 month looking for a reliable freelancer with experience, altho it looks like there is alot of freelancer on it, most of them uses bot to bid, without even reading the project, and when you talk with one of them, they claim they know what to do, and either ask to chat outside freelancer, or ask for money in advance, and those who don't instead of working on your project they keep searching for other projects, and end up banned from the website

It was great before, now i wouldn't recommend it at all

I have been using their website for a while, both as a freelancer and employer and honestly... they are the worst on the market. Make yourself a favour, stay away from them.
No need to say a lot, just the same experience as other reviewers here... the keywords are: poor support, incompetence, cash machine, scam, dictatorship, slavery and so on...

Tip for consumers:
As a freelancer, don't pay to be certified (skill/level certifications), it's just to take your money. They are full of mistakes and incorrect, you might not get the best score even you are right. The result could be they will display a poor score on your profile (you can't delete it) because of their buggy forms and clearly they are incompetent to judge your skill... What a shame for a website with plenty of skilled freelancers, they don't have any in their company.

I used this website to hire freelancers for many projects until today. I opened a project and their system rejected it and refunded my money.

The company then turned the closed project into a fee, and then stole my entire balance after I opened the next project!

These people are thieves, so if you want to gamble with possibly losing you money, go ahead!

Tip for consumers:
If you have a project that gets cancelled, DO NOT start a new one. They will take your future payment as a fee to cover the closed project, even if there was no transaction or work done.

Create a new account and close the current account or use another service. If not, you risk losing all of your money.

I have completed my project with abiding freelancers guidelines and made client 100% satisfied and he is still communicating and satisfied, due to his external issue with his bank they reverted my money and my account is in negative balance and I am just spending here not getting work too much and which I have done it's reverted.

Should have some good policies for freelancers as well. If they are right why their money reverted to the bank in any sort of issue.

There is a lot of cheating going on around this app where I have a very bad experience. Please do not use this app. I have a Client who has accepted a milestone, but did not receive the amount and completed the work as well. Because the transaction was later reversed. However, this freelancer team closed my account instead of taking the necessary action against such clients. It doesn't run background he checks on the client side. Clients create accounts and scam freelancers by reverting.

I did a job for a client. Until then, everything seemed normal. Until they charged me the membership of the money that was in the process of withdrawal.
Unfortunately, at least for them, I no longer feel like using the platform anymore. Likewise, I have consulted the Australian embassy to make a formal claim and requested the federal government to cancel the domain assigned to that company in my country. This isn't free guys!

I was charged for a service I did not use. So I reached out to support. They have the worst support I dealt with Marcela P. And it was the worst, most incompetent and laziest support representative I have ever dealt with. This person replied twice and didn't reply after that. The audacity of this person. They think they won't be called out so they do whatever they want to. When they are dealing with customers. I am beyond irrate and furious.

Found a designer that made me a website design. I paid him in full but noticed the same design on Dribbble from other person so it was copied which is illegal. Notified the support and asked for a refund. They didn't do anything about it. I asked if i could atleast remove/change my review for that project and they refused to do even that so I couldn't even warn other people of this scammer. I'm outraged. Closed the account immediately after. The worst experience I have ever had on web.

The freelancer was late with the work, worked on the WRONG thing, the quality was poor. I asked to stop work and get a refund. Was called names and harrassed by my freelancer. Meanwhile, my freelancer support person didn't get back to me, or left terse, useless messages. Ultimately, I had to dispute with my credit card company to try to get my money back. SUCH A SCAM, avoid at ALL costs!

I had a disappointing experience with a freelancer who took on my project but attempted to subcontract it to lower-rated freelancers, even though I paid a premium for their services due to their higher rate. I expected a platform like this to protect users from such unethical practices, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

When I raised a complaint about this issue, I was informed that I needed to pay extra for protection. This was quite surprising to me, as I believed that basic protection against spam and cheating would be a default feature.

Additionally, when I attempted to withdraw my funds, I was asked for a clear document to verify my address, which seemed like an unusual request since I had already verified my identity. I reached out to the support team through live chat to seek clarification and assistance. However, to my frustration, they abruptly ended the chat session, leaving me unable to communicate with anyone in real-time. I could only send messages, and it felt like they were more interested in financial transactions than addressing users' concerns.

It's clear that when users encounter problems on this platform, the support system may not be as helpful as expected, and they may prioritize monetary transactions over providing timely assistance."

Over eager freelancer.com sales people like Jethro working from Manilla just want to upgrade you and not keep to their promised offer. I've raised the issue with Jethro about the offer not being honored and have not heard back from him. I'll be escalating this to get my money back. Horrible experience!

There are too many spam that breaches the rules. Freelancers that are advertised as "Digital marketers" sent tons of bots to my Social Media sites They were reported, but nothing happens. Even Admin takes up to a week to reply you.

Same with Fiverr, the moment someone charges the top dollar, then they become a "Selected Member", because the bring more money to Freelancer. I had problems with every single order I did, with freelancers dont know what they are doing and wasted a week of my and my clients time, and then (with all the proof) I had to apply for refunds because the freelancers are illiterate.

I have done mostly designing gigs, but again, same as with Fiverr, everyone is "a specialist in this field for many years and understand the requirements exactly", till they start working then it comes out that they have no idea what they are doing. Last example attached where my client has very clearly asked for Canva made designs. Freelancers confirm as understood exactly. A week later they sent photoshop designs. When i point the attached out, all i got is "sorry", and i have just lost another client.

Bottomline, they are much more expensive than Fiverr, you need to do a security check as strict as a NASA Scientist to become verified, which is not needed with Fiverr and the quality of freelancers are much lower than those of Fiverr.

Tip for consumers:
Stay away! And dont sneeze, because you will get charged for that too.

This site can be a scam. I used it once successfully. I rehired the freelancer for another job that was a month late and in the end, one out of 3 animations worked.

Other times I tried to hire freelancers where all the bids came in at least 1/5 the final price.

Many of the people on the site initially bid at a reasonable price. Later, when in in conversation with the freelancers (in the "chat" box) they charge as much as five times their bid (e.g. They may bid $50 for a project that would take at most an hour to complete at a stated $25 per hour USD. But then they inevitably altered the price higher 5-6 times that price... often with the same line: " "we provide high-quality service sir" (see the screengrab below... and please forgive my spelling :) ).

I was so tired of bogus bids for one project that I hired a recruiter for $10.00. For unknown reasons (I have asked several times), they removed the project. They told me that it violated their "terms and agreement", with no explanation of what term it violated (I could see none), and never returned my money. I'm guessing tthat they removed the project because I lodged the complaint above.

This is a completely useless platform compared to Upwork, I Just open my account and tried to find a Freelancer, finally, I found a good one during the chat, freelancer.com has closed my account due to violation of terms and conditions, what exactly the terms and condition, is it just close accounts, freelancers please avoid this website as clients can not use the service. I believe that without clients you do not get any job, perhaps work with upwork.com

Freelancer is asking for: 1) Government Issued Identification 2) Proof of Residential Address 3) Verification Code Confirmation - Provide a photo of you holding the verification code displayed below in one hand and your ID clearly visible in your other hand.

I have already concluded a 8 month project where the worker and Freelancer received money. Now to do another project they are asking for this info... super sketchy. I don't want to give them all my personal info. Looks like back to Fiverr.com it is!

Bye-bye Freelancer!

Tip for consumers:
Go to Fiverr, they do not ask for such personal info that can get you into big trouble if they use it in the wrong way.
