  • To add insult to injury, they proceeded to charge my credit card for a year's service, months after I made the return.
  • Bad order process, bad customer service, bad phone service, canned emails, billing is out of this world!

“Great and free”

Was hesitant to try but it works better than Verizon plus it's free. Can't go wrong with FreedomPop. Service everywhere I go with LTe speed. Love if!

“Used to work, but now a Scam.”

I ordered their $10 plan online, but the order never showed up on my online account. I emailed them and they stated the sim was shipped but failed to respond concerning the account issue. After 12 days and still no sim card, I contacted PayPal and disputed the order. After a few days, Paypal reimbursed me the $10. The sim card finally came after 15 days but does not work. Still no response concerning my account issue. They are obviously a scam now.

FreedomPop is great for light-medium users looking for cheap (FREE) cellular data. They have offerings on Spring CDMA as well as AT&T LTE SIMs. The free allotment is not a lot, but sufficient for light users. You can always get additional SIMs (1 cent - 99 cents) and swap the out as needed or pay for additional data.

Just read the fine print and make sure to downgrade from trial plans/services before you get charged.

Low to moderate users can benefit from the FP sims (and phones although I have no personal experience with those).
I have a SIM onthe "free plan" - 200 minutes/texts/mb per month. You can increase the Mb to 700 with FP friends.
I also have an annual 1000 promo that gives 1000 mins/texts and 1gb data per month for an annual charge of $49.99 (again FP friens can increase data to 1.5gb)
You need to go through the downgrade to free process carefully at start up to avoid default charges. Google it to make sure you get it right and your on a $0 a month plan.

First, I got a SIM card for use in a cheap unlocked phone for my son. I only wanted him to have an emergency phone if he was out somewhere with friends. It worked great. Since I tend to forget my phone from time to time, I decided the price was right to get a cheap phone to use as a back up in my car. It's a little buggy from time to time, but overall, it has worked when I needed it.

FreedomPop is the perfect solution for those who are looking for 4G wireless service for free or on a budget. The reviews online are mixed due to the the limited customer service and the hassle of downgrading all the trial plans and services. So it's worth mentioning that FreedomPop supports on Facebook and Twitter are great. ******* MB of free data every month suits fairly well for the needs of browsing the Internet, checking your emails, and using most social media sites. Plus, FreedomPop offers unlimited free calling and texting between FreedomPop users and does not charge additional fees for international calls.

Freedom is the only mobile communication provider which is available for free depending on your usage. There is no monthly charges for the basic service. I recommend to give a try. You have nothing to loose.

It is a great, nice wireless provider for basic and data needs. Free Plan has 200 Mins, 500 texts, 700 MB free with tweaking. FREE! Runs on AT&T and Sprint network, with relatively good coverage and speeds. Nice phone selection, however customer service with free plans is limited to forum support. But it is free!

I have been using FreedomPop LTE SIM for 8 months now and I am very satisfied. The coverage is great and the call quality is good. There are several plans to satisfy everyone need starting from 0$/month up. With the free plan you get 200min talk, 500 texts and 200MB. Up to 500 extra MB can be obtained connecting with FreedomFriends. All call and texts between Freedompop users are free. Make sure to set up your account according to your needs and usage, be careful to not go below 100MB to not incur in extra charges.
I would definitely command Freedompop for medium/moderate users.

FreedomPop does exactly what it says it will. You get free voice/data service every month. If you have problems they have excellent and responsive customer service agents who will work with you until the problem is solved. Just read the fine print and keep an eye on your usage and it is truly free!

The service on my SIM-voice has been every bit as good and reliable as my prior no-contract ATT service. The VOIP app is on par quality as Google Voice and MagicJack. You just need to know that lots of the opt-out choices are small print hyperlinks and you get asked repeatedly if you really, really want to opt out. I have been a FP customer for 3 years, and pretty much have been satisfied. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is support. When I have a billing issue or account problem, the "leave a ticket" service does not work smoothly, and sometimes I wait weeks to get a reply (I have a ticket in right now on one of my accounts I left 2 weeks ago and still have not heard back). The recent inability to give more data to FP Friends if they have already received 500MB in Freedom Friends data that month is also a stinker, but certainly not a deal breaker for me.

I can't beleive it! I own my phone and paid 99 cents for a freedompop SIM card. Then I got a free trial of the 6 month plan with unlimited talk, text and 2gb of data with premier phone service. The full price of that plan is 98.88. That breaks down to 12.99 & 3.49 a month. This is a savings of over $80 A month on the same kind of plan with Verizon!

The company loses only 1 star because after my free trial was up, I downgraded to the fully free account and deactivated auto refill. This only cost $5 which is a credit in my account for accidental overages. This is not the issue. The star is removed for ads in my messenger and no more access to voicemail. If those were changed it would be perfect. But for FREE, I can live with that!

I was originally a bit scared with the all the negative reviews but I bit the bullet and ordered this product with the lightening deal sale. So far it has been working quite well in areas where 4G coverage is available. You can also check to see if your area is covered by doing a Google search on "Freedompop coverage map".

As some other reviewers have also shared, we would need to be careful with setting up the billing option in order to avoid charges due to over-usage. This could be done by going to the billing setting and disabling the automatic top-up option. And also make sure that the device has WEP password enabled so that other unauthorized users cannot get to it.
