Warning and Complaint Against Fotor for Fraudulent Practices
June 25, 2024

I am writing to urgently report and warn the public about the fraudulent activities of an online company, Fotor, operating under the website fortor. This company misleads consumers by promoting their services as free, only to subsequently request personal information and credit card details under false pretenses, which they use for unauthorized charges.

Details of the Scam
Misleading Service Claims: Fotor advertises a free AI-based service for photo touch-ups, attracting users who need professional image enhancements. However, once engaged with the service, they request credit card information under the guise of providing a premium service.

Fraudulent Service Delivery: I personally paid for their service to enhance 25 professional headshots. The photos returned were completely unrelated to mine, featuring images of an entirely different person from a different race and nationality. Despite multiple attempts, the issue persisted, and the site demanded more payments for further attempts.

Contradictory Refund Policy:

Initial False Promise: After experiencing these issues, I contacted Fotor for a refund. Their initial response stated that they would process a refund but first requested that I try the service again.
Refusal to Refund: When I declined and insisted on a refund, Fotor's response shifted. They then stated they do not give refunds as a matter of policy, contradicting their previous offer. This clearly indicates a deceptive attempt to further charge my card under false pretenses. It is unethical to promise a refund to lure customers into repeated transactions and then deny it altogether.
Unauthorized Account Access: Disturbingly, after my interaction with Fotor, there was an attempt to alter my PayPal password without my consent. This suggests unauthorized access to my account details, which is a severe breach of security and privacy.

Actions Taken and Recommendations
Refund by PayPal: Thankfully, PayPal acknowledged the fraudulent nature of this company and issued a refund after investigating my complaint. I strongly recommend any affected individuals to immediately report such incidents to their payment providers.

Public Warning: I urge all individuals to avoid any interaction with Fotor and to be wary of their deceptive tactics. It is clear from numerous online complaints that this is not an isolated incident but a systematic approach to defraud customers.

Report to Authorities: I have reported this issue to various consumer protection agencies and encourage others to do the same to prevent further victims from falling prey to this scam.

Request for Investigation and Action
I appeal to the relevant authorities and consumer protection agencies to investigate Fotor for their fraudulent practices and take appropriate action to hold them accountable. It is imperative to protect consumers from such unscrupulous companies that exploit their trust and financial security.
