Having worked in financial services for 25 years I feel like I can attest to how much rubbish is spouted by financial advisors. Yes, some are good, but most are simply selling mutual funds with no expertise other than sales skills. I learned more about good long term, life changing investing and wealth management in the first year of a subscription than I did in the entire time I spent on Wall Street.
Automatic renewal is concealed, no notice given, and no receipt provided. Unacceptable for a $299 billing.

Tip for consumers:
Start out with Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers. Read everything, don't necessarily buy all the stocks, but get familiar with the philosophy. Follow it bit by bit and eventually your financial life will be sorted.

Recently, i've renewed my membership in the highest level service (Motely Fool One) for the third time with no hesitation -- the service gives me the information, tools, and confidence to take charge of my own investments.

Awesome investing track record over decades, but more importantly, the idea of investors helping other investors plays out on the Fool's discussion boards.
Waaay better than other investing services I have had... and a ton of different services to tailor to your specific investing needs.
Tip for consumers:
Ask questions and use the discussion boards; some pretty smart people there!

I'm that guy. You know, the one who over analyzes and hesitates to make a move. I sat on the subscription and did not invest but watched the performance. Only after about a year did I jump in. My story is like so many others who wish they had started over. After initially investing my returns have been great. My sons have even come on board in their early 20s and have a bright future as Fools. This journey so far has been a Foolish blessing.
Thank you for the positive feedback!
It sounds like you’re following our Foolish investing philosophy! We believe a diverse portfolio of at least 10-15 stocks, paired with a long-term investing outlook of a minimum of 3-5 years, is the best way to counteract a fluctuating market.

I've been a subscriber/reader since 1999. I trust most of my investment decisions to the community of the Motley Fool. I appreciate everything they offer and do for the individual investor.
There is so much valuable information on the website and the email newsletters are great too. It's not just bloated information sent to your inbox, it's carefully curated so it's easy to digest or delete if it doesn't fit your interest. Great group of people and valuable service.

I've been with Motley Fool for 10 years or so. In that time they have recomended a number of stocks that have tremendously added to my retirement nest egg! Most of the picks recomended did very well. Although their 3D (DDD) recommendation I've been sitting on for 3 years waiting for it to break even. Hopfully it will before I retire. Even if it dosent I've made way more returns on their other picks than I've lost on this one. I highly recommend Motley Fool.
Thank you for the positive feedback, and for being such a dedicated Fool!
It sounds like you've created a diverse portfolio - that's great to hear! We recommend that Fools have a diverse portfolio of at least 10 to 15 stocks, and that they hold those stocks for a minimum of 3 to 5 years. We believe it's the best way to counteract the whims of the market.

I am a 70 year old man retirement minded who is selling 401K Mutual funds to invest in individual stocks. I am using Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers and their website. Videos for investment advice. Motley Fool has some great picks. The stocks tend to be volatile. But I do believe in their philosopy of buyin at least 15 stocks and holding for 5 years or more and holding a cash position. What is lacking is there is little guidance on the sell side. Retired persons must sell to meet minimum distribution requirements or may need to sell down to pay living expense.

The Motley Fool
For years, I had a big-name broker whose recommendations, in the end, lost a lot of money for me. I then tried to play the market by myself, until I realized (after losing lots of money) that I did not have the time, or the ability, to do proper research. I became wiser, though still poorer, when I took a chance with the Motley Fool. The name had turned me off for a long time, but its record of giving winning advice convinced me. Twelve years later, I rest easy knowing they my wife and children are secure through their old age (provided Trump does not get us into WW III.)
Thank you for the positive feedback!
We're sorry to hear you were turned off by our name at first - on our "About Us" page we explain why it was chosen. "Our name is in homage to the one character in Shakespearean literature — the court jester — who could speak the truth to the king and queen without having his or her head lopped off. The Fools of yore entertained the court with humor that instructed as it amused. More importantly, the Fool was never afraid to question conventional wisdom."

-great stock pick recommendations
-relatively insulated to market downturns (i. E., the 2018 market correction period)
-rarely do they sell their recommendations
-performance has been exceptional since I subscribed to the service in 2017
-unsubscribe the advertisement emails and you're off to a great long term investment experience
As a freelancer (arts), i. E. far from rich but at least able to save some amounts of money & otherwise complete idiot when it comes to finances, I didn't want to have just this "dead money".
So I read a book "stocks for dummies" type, looked around the net, found Motley and started with 1500 €, really small amount I wouldn't miss if I lose it. I like Motley's articles: they are down to earth, easy to understand (even for financial ignorants), but still comprehensive enough to get an idea about stock/company etc. During this time I didn't just make suprisingly nice sum out of that original 1500 €. Most important is that I learned a lot - the world of stocks & stock exchange opened to me as something really interesting in itself. At first I bought some stocks, advised by Motley. Later on I also bought some stocks I found and studied about independently. For now most of them are doing just fine. My plan is to hold most of my portfolio for a longer period, but here and there I speculate (a little) - also mostly successful. OK, I made some mistakes and I'm still making them - mainly selling my "speculative" stocks too early, for smaller profit, but nearly never these mistakes are such that I lose a sum worth mentioning. And this is also an important thing I learned from Motley: not to panic every time when some of your stocks slide down or there comes a "crash day" or two.
The only thing I didn't like was too many e-mails, but I settled this in the Settings.
To conclude: Motley Full is a great tool for total beginners - it prevents you to do basic beginners' mistakes or at least as few as possible. Besides it enables you to learn the basics fast and even with great interest.

The Motley Fool
Being a sissy, so far as investing in any stocks, I renewed just because Motley Fool is a long standing name, that as I recall, I must have become aware of them some 20 to 30 years ago. I'll have to research that for myself now, so I can feel even better about "pulling the trigger" using their information..
Thank you for the positive feedback!
Although we provide research along with our stock recommendations, we certainly encourage our members to do their own additional research. One of the principal tenets here at The Motley Fool is that the best person to handle your finances is you. It is our firm belief that it serves every investor’s best interest to encounter and consider opposing viewpoints.
One thing to keep in mind is that we believe a diverse portfolio of at least 10-15 stocks, paired with a long-term investing outlook of a minimum of 3-5 years, is the best way to counteract a fluctuating market.

I had mutual funds for decades that seemed to retreat as much as grow. I am a self-employed artist/crafts person and have never been rich. Every year I added money, but the total value inched up so slowly. I decided to try a self-directed IRA in 2011. My random investments based on friends' advice lost more than it gained, bringing 12,000 to about $9500 by 2014. Then I got the Fool's Stock Advisor. The results were so much better! I started with 10 stocks and now have over 100. From 2017 to 2019 I moved all my mutual funds into stocks. The growth has been so good that I invested in the Cloud Disruptor 2020 service, and that has gained 30%, even though I started in Feb 2020, just before the COVID crash. Thank you, Motley Fool!

I just renewed my membership for the 2nd time. As a small business owner I don't have time to research stocks. Since I started investing in individual stocks all of the stocks I have purchased, with the exception of 1, have been Fool recommendations. Over any given period my portfolio is out performing the S&P 500 by about 11% points... if the S&P is up 4%, then over the same period my portfolio is up about 15%. One thing I did before ever becoming a member was listen to over a years worth of the Rule Breaker podcast by David Gardner. I learned a lot about the Fool philosophy before becoming a member. One of the most important things I learned was get to 12 to 15 stocks as quickly as you can. I did this over a period of about 6 months. In reading some negative reviews, it looks like a lot of negative experiences are the result of someone buying one or two stocks and seeing one or both immediately drop by a lot. I have a couple of those, but I also have 3 that are up between 100% and 300% in less than 2 years. My single biggest gainer is up by more than all of my losers combined. Here's my point, if you buy in and use the service like David Gardner teaches on the Rule breaker pod cast you will outperform the S&P 500. Also, I should point out I am a stock adviser subscriber rather than a rule breaker subscriber.
I have been a Stock Advisor for well over a decade and I have since joined other Motley Fool services. I rely on the Fool as a key source of info and my portfolio has done extraordinarily well with Foolish guidance. Joining the Fool family has quite simply been the best financial decision I have made - it has quite literally has changed my life.
Timely advice leads to good gains from the Motley fools. They are able to find good companies with big upside.

I don't have a lot of time for Market research. Motley Fool does that for me. As a "second generation" fool I am pleased with the service
I have been a member of MF Rule Breakers for a few years now and have enjoyed the benefits of some outstanding recommendations, including Shopify, Mulesoft and MongoDB. These investments have made a huge impact to my families lifestyle and we look forward to enjoying the benefits of Rule Breaker membership for many years to come.
The Fools information is accurate and timely. I don't have the time to do the research myself but have always been able to rely on them for great stock picks. The last two that I purchased, based on their timely information, have doubled in value. Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback!
We're glad to hear that you've made a return in your first year using our recommendations. It’s important to note, though, that the market has been near all-time highs recently and it’s impossible to predict how it will perform. That’s why we encourage Fools to buy and hold stocks for the long term -- most of our services recommend an outlook of 3-5 years -- we think it’s the best way to counteract the whims of the market. We also suggest that Fools diversify their portfolio by purchasing at least 10 to 15 stocks.
If there's anything we can do to improve our services, please reach out and let us know.

I have used this service fro many years and it is a great resource for finding stocks I would never think to look at. You still have to sort them based on your own investment tastes but several over the years have made me real money. Thank You Motley Fool!
I have followed many newsletters since January 2009, using equal weighted round number unique stock buys versus the same dollar value of the equal weighted S&P 500 RSP ETF. By holding dividends as cash, and making buys or sells at the next market open price after the recommendation, both Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers are far and away the winners. They have internal rates of return that beat the RSP. Kudos!
