Love Fast-Growing Trees!
May 15, 2018

Very easy to order from! Knew what I wanted, site explained how to grow it as a patio tree, arrived very fast with no damage at all! I know if I have questions, all I have to do is call them. What more can you ask for? It's gotten more leaves since it arrived! So far, so good!

Arrived Too Early for Planting
May 14, 2018

I placed the order for plantings on March 22, expecting them to ship when temps finally warmed enough with no threat of snow. We had temps in the teens all the way thru mid April and accumulating snow the evening of the 14th leaving 2+ inches for April 15, snowed again on the 16th and again on the 19th. Wish I could add the photos of the snow to this review but no place to do so. This weather was all foretasted but "Fast-Growing-Trees obviously did not look at the weather for Northern Illinois prior to shipping as our plantings arrived on April 14th. I called and was told to keep the plantings in a cool dark space - not so easy when our garage & barn are heated and everything outside was in the teens during the evening and 20's during the day. I cracked open the service door for our garage allowing the cold air in and kept the planting in a bucket close to that door for a couple of weeks and was able to plant the first week of May. The plantings (Boxwood's) look as if they were not affected by the drawn-out / extended period in the bucket and seem to be doing fine today. (May 12th)

Hi Shirley
I am so sorry to hear that your tree is not leafing out. If you feel like the tree is not coming out of dormancy I will have our customer service team give you a call. They will replace free of charge if your tree was purchased during our dormancy period and didn't come out. When trees go to sleep for the winter there is a chance they don't wake up, which is why we have a great dormancy guarantee.

I recently placed an order with FGTs for x15 5-6ft Green Giant Arbs. They immediately shipped out the product, which was awesome because I was scrambling for a project. They delivered in 2 days after I placed order, and everything looked awesome. There was 2 out of 15 trees that were slightly smaller than 5ft, and due to the uniformity of the job, I had to inquire. I sent an email with some photos to their customer service. They responded immediately and replaced the trees. As far as Green Giants go, this company is awesome! Their actual human customer service is breath of fresh air. They're always will to talk on the phone as well!

I was looking for a gift to give a plant lover. I easily navigated the website and found what I was looking for. It arrived correctly, on time and was in great condition. Would use them again in the future without hesitation.

At least they tried a little
May 10, 2018

Placed order for "large" size (3 gal) tree. What arrived was in a pot approx 1.5 gallon, a tiny little twig. Emailed that they sent me wrong size ($60 vs $35). They have some sort of rotating customer service that give the same "stock" answers to inquiries, telling me that it was correct size. I then sent them a photo of the twig, with tape measure, showing it at an astounding 16 inches tall - which was the advertised size of the "small" tree. A different CS rep emailed back that I was mistaken, they sent a large. I photoed the pot next to a 2 gallon bucket, which was well larger than the pot they claimed to be 3 gallons... a THIRD email reply came from someone who told me that I was STILL wrong - that "gallons are different for nurseries". I then told them that I was going to ship the twig back to them collect, dispute the credit card transaction, and destroy them on social media. At that point, a FOURTH person volunteered to refund the money, all the while insisting that I was wrong, that the 16" 1.5 gal twig was indeed a robust 3 gallon, 24" mighty species and that I would see if I just planted it. So, in a fit of stupid, I actually planted it. At this point, it has a miniature series of reddish leaves coming out, has not grown a whit, and looks really silly in my yard. I have to say, Fast Growing trees is very prompt, and has a robust CS system, but the tree is puny and not going anywhere, and it should not take 4 people and my threats to gain a refund for what is photographically so obviously inferior and incorrect. Nothing will drive you back into the higher-priced-but-clearly-superior arms of a good local greenhouse faster than Fast-Growing Trees did me. Don't buy from these clowns. Buy local.

Michael-
I am so sorry that it took 4 people to get your issue resolved. You are right that is not okay and I appreciate your feedback. 3 gallon nursery pots are different from gallons of milk or paint gallons. It is a nursery standard pot. I am very sorry for any confusion that this may have caused. The photos you sent to our Customer Service team, definitely show a 3 gallon plant that was well branched. I know it was during our dormant season that it was purchased so it is covered at a 100% until the end of this month if it doesn't start to flush out leaves. Crapes are slow to come out of dormancy. Again, I am sorry it took so many people to get your issue resolved and this case will be used for education and training.

First of all, I will start by saying I did receive my order as it was advertised online from FGT. HOWEVER, I had higher expectations of the actual products themselves upon delivery. Hence the overall disappointment. My "2ft" tree was the skinniest little twig in a tiny 4-5" square pot. A stiff breeze could snap this thing. My "3 gallon" crape myrtle tree was pruned back to basically a barren 6" tall stump. Both plants are alive at least. The stump just poked out a small shoot at the very base after a month of no signs of growth.

For the price of the plants, I expected more. I ordered online because I was looking for a specific variety that my local improvement store did not carry. Frustrated with this purchase, I ordered the same variety of crape myrtle tree from a competing site a few weeks later (on sale for a lower price than at FGT) and received a magnificent tree that was taller than advertised and had exploded with growth within one week of delivery. This tree is already over 6ft tall and was properly pruned to promote an upward, more tree-like growth. It doesn't look like someone just took a chainsaw to the base. I go back to the stump that I received from FGT with its tiny little 2" emerging sprout and just shake my head.

Again, I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because as I said, I did receive both products as advertised - a 2ft tree and a 3 gallon pot. They were packaged well, shipped promptly, and are alive. But I wish FGT would show a picture of what you should expect to arrive at your door. A $40 twig and a $40 stump is just NOT worth it. Any future online tree purchases will be done at the competing site that I found.

Erin-
I am so sorry to hear this about your experience. I will have a customer care agent reach out to you in regards to your order not being up to quality standards. During the colder months and into early spring sometimes the plans don't look like much because they are still coming out of dormancy and have been pruned to help kick start that growth. We again are very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the size and hope that we can gain your trust back in us soon!

My Winesap and Arkansas Black apple trees wintered over well. Their fully 9 ft tall this year, lush and full. The winesap was vivered in blooms, but, as typical just a year after planting all of the fruit self culled. Both trees are going to grow into beautiful specimen trees and I look forward to a ling and mutually beneficial relationship with them. Beautiful stock is turning rapidly into beautiful trees.
Thanks!

Not very good
February 18, 2021

I ordered a weeping willow and citronella grass from here. The shipping was efficient, but the plants looked pretty sad upon arrival, and were soaking with water. I planted both, and the tree seems to be doing ok, but was ridiculously overpriced upon doing a little research. The citronella grass is not going to make it, it has root rot and couldnt get it to come back, $45 down the toilet! I would definitely go with another company the next time to purchase trees/grasses.

Bought a lemon tree as a gift, it had spider mites, which are like fleas to get rid of. Because I also paid for warranty requested help with this, a lot of going back and forth before replacement was received. It also has spider mites!
