It works fine for me. It will get you on a plane and gives you twenty four hours to cancel. The amenities of hotels are sometimes wrong though.
Booked a hotel through Expedia. Confirmation email explicitly stated I could cancel without penalty if done by 11:59 pm the day before arrival. I ended up cancelling within the prescribed time frame and received confirmation from Expedia for the cancellation showing no penalty or charge. Hotel charged me $830 anyway, and is refusing to refund. Expedia appears to have misrepresented the hotel's cancellation policy. I should have booked directly with the hotel.

I have more than 10 years using Expedia and I've booked hundreds of hotels and air tickets without having major issues. I was surprised reading so many bad reviews about them. Just 3 days ago I booked 5 rooms for a couple of friends in a Puerto plata hotel in the DR and everything was as it should be.
I'm a gold member because of the activity of my account but the time I've face any issues I've been able to call and get response.
It is true their customer service is bad and they keep you on the phone like forever.
The other thing they are very bad at is just honoring the BPG. I used to get good amount of money from them on BPG as well as 50 dollars in coupons for every booking I made with them if I could find a best price on another platform. They just discontinued this practice.
They also used to grant 100 dollars for certain amount of bookings but all those perks don't exist anymore.
To be honest after reading the bad reviews I doubted about making my last booking but one thing I did was calling the hotel to verify my booking
Tip for consumers:
Just confirm your stay with the hotel
Products used:
Hotels and air tickets
Sometimes prices are better though if you book directly. Recommend to check different aggregators and hotel's websites prior to booking
Expedia is a really good service for booking hotels and buying air tickets. I have used it many times and there were many good offers for hotels, but the prices are not always the best. I also bought plane tickets on this site, and it was the only site where I had no problems paying.
I cancelled a reservation weeks before I would have owed some of my deposit per the "contract language" on the Expedia web site. Upon cancellation I immediately received an Expedia email stating my full deposit would be refunded. Next day I get a partial refund from the property owners. I then asked Expedia to investigate. They then call the property owners who I am told charged me an administrative fee and they do not do 100% deposit refunds at any time. Expedia told me too bad; I need to argue with the property owners. I was put on hold for 90 minutes when I asked to talk to a supervisor and after 90 minutes I hung up. Another 30 minutes later I received a call back from a supervisor and withing approximately 30 minutes later I was told the full refund would be made. He was very pleasant. I will continue to use Expedia in the future
I found a 4 star hotel at an exceptional rate. So I booked it (before becoming an actual member of expedia). However when I got to the hotel they required a $100 deposit. I just didnt have it so I asked for a refund. So the hotel had a $25 refund fee! Which was half of the amount of the room. The hotels ad on Expedia did not have these site policies listed. The customer rep. With Expedia did everything within her power to get me a full refund from the hotel but the hotel wasn't budging claiming that that it was Expedias responsibility to make sure that these policies are advertised since the hotel bought the advertising spot. By the time it was over with the customer rep. Gave me a $25 voucher toward my next hotel and I was out a total of 13.00 and I had to call a friend to drive a little over 400 miles to pick me up. My lesson is this: be sure to read EVERYTHING when booking ANYTHING on these websites... it could have possibly been my over site but Expedia did take half the responsibility.
I enjoy having all my travel information and itinerary streamlines and available through their app, including flight times, reminders to check in, hotel and car rental information. Prices on flights are not the lowest and some careful browsing can save you some money though.
They gave proper information about hotels and managed to get a place. Website is easy to navigate. Thanks for cooperation
I've been using Expedia for years booking travel, hotel and bundled packages. I've never had any issues that weren't resolved to my satisfaction. I appreciated the ease of helping me with a credit for my flight to Hawaii last April when Covid shut everything down. I also like the great deals I sometimes get on hotels from using my points. When booking flights, I compare the cost of tickets offered by Expedia vs the airline, and sometimes the cost is better with the airline, but not always. I will continue to use Expedia in the future.
Arrived at an expedia booked hotel and they told us they never received our booking and had no rooms available. Called expedia who tried to send us to another place nearby, but without knowing what it was like, we refused and booked an alternative. Not expedia's fault, and the hotel didn't look great anyway. Refund in the bank within 24 hours. No complaints apart from expedia being slow on the phone.
How could you keep a hotel like the stay plus inn on your site. No water for days, garbage not picked up for days, rude staff. One of the staff told me I had to clean my own air conditioner filter. No ice. Pool has been down for months has turned green. Have to pay extra for an additional towels. Which are so thin and solid
Have not been able to have clean sheets do to the water problem. How can you keep them on your site is unbelievable
I tried a bunch of different sites for a good flight and hotel deal. Expedia showed me the cheapest prices.
After deterioration of service with one of their competitors, we switched to Expedia last year. The online experience is no better (can sometimes be tricky to navigate) and you may need to contact customer service for complicated travel arrangements. When we have done that, we've had unfailingly positive experiences with their reps - all very helpful and very polite.
No travel website is perfect, but Expedia does a pretty good job. Their interface is easy, logging in with Facebook is easy, and earning rewards is easy. But most importantly, actually booking is easy. I like that Expedia accepts all forms of payment and makes it easy to book, unlike directly booking with many airline websites that reject foreign credit cards, don't accept American Express, or routinely flag purchases and cause problems.
Unless I'm booking travel within the US where I book with the airline or hotel directly, I always use Expedia and have never had a problem.
My brother recently had a wedding and we needed to rent a few cars for guests. It turned out to be convenient and fast, that you do not need to wait until they find a car. We rode 2 days and returned the cars.
Been using this site to book tickets to room.So far the experience has been good. Intent to keep using their service in the future
I usually book through hotel websites direct, never third party websites. But a friend unannounced she was visiting me but yet too far from my home. I booked a hotel through here so I could be closer to her instead of having to commute all the way back home (100+ miles one way)
Expedia filters the hotels that are affordable and can't go wrong with all the reviews. I booked a Best Western hotel with no problems. When I visited the front desk they upgraded my room different from what I booked. Thanks Expedia!
Good pricing if you work at it over a period of time. One of the sites i go to when planning transportation and lodging for trips.
Got my tickets at a pretty good price and had no issues. I think there are better places to search for tickets though.
I use Expedia for many of my trips when I travel, especially hotels, and have good experiences. BUT BUYER BEWARD WHEN BOOKING FLIGHTS, SPECIFICALLY TO EUROPE/SPAIN. I thought I was booking a non-stop flight from LA to Spain on Iberia Airlines. The Iberia logo was next to the flight information, Iberian Airlines, Operated by Iberia for Level." After receiving an email (that didn't have Level, the low budget poorly reviewed airline's name in the subject line) about paying for extra items like luggage, seat selection and food and drink, I opened the email and it was "Level Airlines with their blue and green logo." NO WHERE WAS THE LEVEL LOGO NEXT TO THE FLIGHT SELECTION. This is misleading and false advertising! I tried to call to cancel, no one answers the phone at Level and their website doesn't open. Very poor customer service. Expedia told me I had to cancel with Level and couldn't get through. Why not have the Level Logo next to the flight number and details?
Wow, the whole process was quick and smooth. Tickets were delivered soon, thank you Expedia, we 'd love to use services again.
I prefer Expedia over every other booking site. I like the reward system and I trust everything I find on there. I feel the ratings and the user reviews are extremely helpful. I did use another hotel site recently, but it was new and hasn't had much advertising, so I can't even remember the name. I wish Expedia had an even larger variety of hotel offerings, like that website had though.
I love Expedia for the great navigation of the travel website. One of the first travel web sites that began with the Internet boom. Used it many times to secure package deals on family vacation and single travel trips. Booking hotels and rental cars is a breeze and they have it down. The only thing I do not like about the site that has everything is that they cater to certain companies that they would not cross a line with to find the better deals out there. Now there are many other travel web sites that have come into
Play to find cheaper deals with competitors. They use different airlines and hotel chains like trivago that you can compare prices and companies finding deals on your own. Hotwire is another one that has fantastic deals if you know what to look for, like secure a hotel deals that are only three stars and up. In the flight department for great deals, try Fareboom. I travel a lot and Expedia will always be there for me in a fix. I can always count on them to find a fair price and confirm reservations.
Comparable are all these Flight, Hotel and Car Rental booking services and here I judge it only by the GUI of the app/site. I will say four star rating because the layouts could be lifted up more in a lit way!
Expedia is great for getting a good idea of the cost of travel. You can see what the airlines are charging as a baseline. Then if you are really counting the pennies, keep searching for a better price. Sometimes you find it. Sometimes Expedia is the winner. Easy to use and you get points for continuing to use their booking site. Cancellations are easy also. Good for people with little time and patience.
