It works fine for me. It will get you on a plane and gives you twenty four hours to cancel. The amenities of hotels are sometimes wrong though.

“Worst possible experience”

Jon R.

To sum it up, this was the worst experience I've had booking. My booking was wrong, the car company is horrid, they lied about their cancelation policy, a staff member canceled my rental insurance without me asking for it to be done, ruining any chance I had at getting my money back due to a medical emergency. The fee was supposed to be nonexistent, then it was $100, then it was $161.97. They just lie and scam their way into being a ratty little middle man.

It is generally good if you have to book hotel, car rental or flights yourself through their websites or the apps. If something goes wrong as in flight cancellations, or hotel rebookings or you want to enquire about status of any of your booking you have to go through a very average customer service.
Their customer service personnel don't understand what you say, give wrong answers apparently to please you so that you hang up the phone to call another day. Call on different times and you get different inconsistent answers.

Very poor support even though they have pretty good deals quite often.
Once you make a reservation through them they are not that willing to help anymore...

Reserved hotel through Expedia - 5 days before going - we rechecked hotel - per internet Hotel closed indefinitely. Called Expedia to see what was going on - they called hotel - yes hotel still open - only taking walk ins - they were in process of changing names - so no longer restaurant or bar. Asked Expedia if possible to find another hotel with restaurant/bar. But only way they could help would be by FIRST canceling our reservation and then looking for another. Told me to go to website and find one and then call them and they would reserve - of course by now Expedia was $50 over another site.

I've been an Expedia customer for many years and have used them for numerous bookings, I always thought I was satisfied with them u til my recent foray. I was looking to book a flight from NY to Bangkok. At 5pm the flight was $776. I emailed my daughter and went to have dinner. At about 7:30pm Expedia had the flight listed at $844. I booked the hotel independently and then went to book the flight and it suddenly jumps to $891. I'm started to get agitated at this point and go to TripAdvisor, there I get the flight via Priceline for $801. I immediately jump to Expedia and low and behold the flight is now $801. I contacted service department and got a bunch of platitudes and apologies. I have read about sites tracking your purchases and that if you are interested in an item they will jack the price up. I believe that Expedia is using that tactic.

During flight only search, with other dates showing in other tabs, you see a better price on the other tabs, but when you click on that, the price is actually higher. I wasted at least 0.5 minutes on this nonsense before deciding to try elsewhere. A shame, because previously I've thought they were OK, and have booked flights through them. I was hoping to use my about $1 reward, but my experience with the flight search has put me off.

My family used to use Expedia regularly, but in 2020 when we had to cancel our trip because our flights were canceled, Expedia promised credits or a refund, but never delivered. We followed up with Singapore's version of the Better Business Bureau (Consumer Association of Singapore) and with our Member of Parliament. Expedia just continued to promise. To date nothing. We don't use Expedia any more.

Their UI is a bit clunky and they don't give the best prices. Much better options online, if you take the time to do your research.

It takes awhile for your order to come from China. But, once you get it you will love
Their clothes. At least the things I ordered are beautiful fit true to size, and the price is right! I am 5' 6", 175,38DD. I ordered an XXL and the items are a little too big for me. Should had got a XL. But, can fix it easy because I sew.
Just be patient your order will come. All three so far a made very well especially the swim suite. Love it!

Expedia site works very well for flight, hotel and car bookings. Sometimes the site is very slow. But hopefully you won't have to deal with the their customer service department. Despite being a Gold member, if I need to change or simply cancel a flight, it's a 45 minute call with several holds. They have human robots in customer service so it takes forever. If you have to contact them, allow lots of time.

Its useful. Its not super cheap or super expensive. I use it to save time. 3.5 star is about right. For specialist travel sometimes other places are better. I've never had a problem with Expedia.

Poor customer service and very difficult for cancellations refunds. Once you buy you're locked in. I'm not sure why companies like this continue to exist in today's online world where you can really just book everything directly yourself.

I don't recommend using only Expedia for hotel booking. They don't always show the true lowest price. Once I booked hotel on their website and paid $10 more than if I would have booked directly on the hotel's site.

Found they seem to be containing less and less choices these days because some airlines and hotels would rather sell directly from their own websites (which is understandable). So this is a good starting point for price research, but you should always check out a few other websites before making a big travel purchase.

I always book with expedia and I probably still will in the future. I only booked with brand name hotels and have had great experiences, but my last trip I decided to try something else and it was an awful experience.

The 5 star hotel with good reviews on their site was so terrible (noise, bugs, mold, etc) we left in the evening and stayed somewhere else! After calling expedia 5 times we got a voucher for the price of the stay at the hotel. To be fair, I think all of this was mainly the hotel's fault, but the expedia employees kept on promising to look into the issue and get back to us the next day, which never happened.

Tip for consumers:
I would stay away from hotels without hundreds of reviews and non-brand name hotels

Good deals but they send you too many emails and try to get every dollar out of you. I'm a bit of a deal shopper so I didn't like that. Still have good deals though. I looked at a trip to vegas for 3 nights and if i booked separate it was $400 more. On expedia it was $400 less ($1000 total vs 1400)

I like the fact that they have great all inclusive packages, but I found it every upsetting that they don't put the correct or closest airport when you book your deal. I was traveling to DR for the 1st time ever and selected a resort in Romanda not knowing it wasn't in the vicinity of Punta Cana and had to pay additional travel fee from and to the airport which could of been easily avoid had their recommend resorts fell under the airport I choose first.

I've learned that try expedia but also try searching yourself. Often you can find better deals. The hard part is knowing how to look for them though. It does take practice.

I am not a frequent traveler where I need a place to stay, but when I do travel, I check for hotel prices and if the price appears to be good, I will book thru them. I have saved money by booking in advance on some occasions and have not beat the price that would be paid for a quick checkin. As with any service business, the consumer needs to do some research in advance.

Searching for hotels is easy, and you can search using: price, amenities, class, etc.
Booking hotels with this site fairly easy, although on a few occasion the hotel did not get a notice from Expedia.
For this reason I carry a print out the confirmation, typically takes care of the issue.

While I do use Expedia to look for prices and routes, usually I have found better seat price combination fusing the airlines site.

I recently cancelled a return trip booking made with Expedia. I've been assured by the Expedia staff that I will get my refund credited back to my credit card account minus the cancellation fee.
Am a bit worried reading the negative reviews about Expedia.
Anyone able to shed some light if the refund will indeed be made?
Thanks heaps

We've used Expedia for family holiday package and then just for flights or hotels. Our experience with holiday packages is that there always seems to be details lacking, customer service doesn't seem to know what is going on when I have called a few times and the package isn't always as advertised.

Now booking just flights or hotels, I have never had a problem. Probably because these are the easiest bookings and I have never needed to call into customer service for this.

I have researched several holidays/gettaways on Expedia, but have only actually purchased from them once.
The site is easy to use albeit a little long winded before I got to where I wanted, and I found that on all the other occassions I found a better deal after taking the time to shop around.
Therefore I would recommend a search but dont book it straight away- do your research first.

I usually have luck booking with Expedia and getting low rates. The only issue I have is that their website has lots of pop-ups, which is a security threat, and their coupons seem like a good value but they only apply to a very specific kind of booking - I can never use them, which is disappointing.
