Quoted "$ 83 Total" for car hire on the website. By the time I had got through the various booking pages the price had gone up to over $800 due to taxes, surcharges and fees. When you ring the Customer Service line you just get transferred from one useless person to another until you give up. Contact hire car companies directly. Expedia is just a Con.

Stay and car

Extended my hotel stay along with car rental package it was listed the car pick up from the airport eventually the car pick up was 22 km far from airport and 56 km from the hotel location.Tried to call them and after many attempts someone answer with nothing he can do, beside the misleading throughout their apps, very poor customer service in addition the phone number isn't listed online, will never use such crooks

Just a warning for everyone looking to travel, do not book with Expedia, they messed up my flights, and told me id be receiving a full refund/ confirmation on my refund within 48 hours
( This was after days of trying to contact them and speaking with multiple people who barley know english). It's been over that time period and I only received a refund for my hotel. I haven't even received a confirmation email about my flight refund which is the majority of the refund. Their customer service is appalling and dodgy, all I want is the rest of my money back... ($1,214.32) to be exact.

6/6 flights Wrong

Without a doubt the worst experience ever! Since I had six flights, and they were All Wrong, I'll just describe flight #1.24 hours before my trip to Thailand from US, I was unable to get my boarding pass. I discovered that Expedia had put both tickets in my husband's name. As everyone knows, names cannot be changed on tickets. 14 hours on the phone with Expedia!, the day before my trip remember, I finally got a ticket-not on the same flights as my husband, to Thailand remember. I have 5 more horror stories, including being told I needed a Visa to enter the US. (Born in the USA, only have USA Passport.) But, I can't even think about this anymore.

Terrible company

While trying to change existing hotel room from 1 king to 2 queen beds, Expedia told me it would cost me another $100.00 for the 2 night reservation. I checked the hotel website and it cost me only $64.04 more. Spent over 1/2 an hr waiting to talk to an Expedia rep on the phone and their online virtual chat is a joke. (it's actually a machine). I will no longer be dealing with Expedia.

I haven't tried them in a couple of years. Every time I did, the plane tickets that I had selected would not be available by the time I made it through the checkout process (less than 15 minutes from selecting the ticket to submitting payment information). I gave up and quit trying to use them. If they have worked out that bug, it might be a good option.

Stay plus inn sucks

How could you keep a hotel like the stay plus inn on your site. No water for days, garbage not picked up for days, rude staff. One of the staff told me I had to clean my own air conditioner filter. No ice. Pool has been down for months has turned green. Have to pay extra for an additional towels. Which are so thin and solid
Have not been able to have clean sheets do to the water problem. How can you keep them on your site is unbelievable

Expedia cancelled my flight in exchange for 'flight credits' without my consent. The customer service representative was condescending and aggressive, and hung up on me when I requested a case number to follow up tomorrow (we had been on the phone for over 3 hours). Annoyingly, because Expedia made changes to my reservation, the airline is now unable to make any changes themselves. I am now going to have to go through a small claims court... Great.

In the past it was one of the best (if not the best) websites where you could book air travels, hotels, rent car etc at the best price with a very large selection. Since some years, with the arrival of several fierce competitors their capability to offer the best services (lower prices, better combination package, better conditions, better support) seems to be faded especially in the customer "general protection and treatment", not offering the customers, anymore, the "security" that they were used to offer in the past.

I lost $100 by booking hotels from them. They mentioned that I can cancel my booking for free, and they asked me whether I would like to buy an insurance for my booking ($2 for each person) but they did not mention that if I cancel my booking, that insurance will not be returned. I booked for quite many people and finally have to cancel my booking, so lost $100 in total without being informed before booking. The credit card was charged immediately, unlike other websites. WHY? It was just booking, not buying, why do they charge immediately? No, thank you, never ever use them again.

Crooks. Plain and simple. They claim to have sent the money I paid Expedia, which was $498, to rent a car from Sixt in PIT Airport. Then Sixt told me that Expedia never paid them so I would have to pay at the desk. Then they proceed to charge me with another $570 plus $200 deposit too. They said to call Expedia to get a refund on the original payment. Called Expedia and they said no Sixt does have the original payment and that they need to issue the refund. After getting the run around for 7 days, I had to call my bank and report the charges as fraud. My bank confirmed that yes Expedia and Sixt did both charge me almost $1200 between the two charges.

All in all run as fast as you can from these companies, Sixt and Expedia!

Ah, Expedia

Ah, Expedia. They are my go-to travel site. I have been to others but so far, Expedia hasn't let me down except a few mix ups.

I travel very frequently. I also have a standard of hotels I stay at. So I look on the actual hotels website before I do any booking through a third party site, such as Expedia. I've noticed Expedia is lacking some details for some hotels and I have had a couple experiences that pissed me off. But each time I got all my money back and was helped by the reps in a professional and nice manner.

The prices are really good the majority of the time, and since I'm a member I get certain discounts, etc. I look on other sites and usually it's not much different in price. So, I trust Expedia and go for it.

I recommend Expedia over several other travel sites. By far.

Good for deals, bad service

Well i always get the best price with them, but it appears helping people save on hotels means that they can't invest in Customer Service - I tried but failed to modify a reservation immediately after placing it.

And it took them 48 hours and 3 calls to realize that.

Buyer beware!

The staff did the error on my return ticket, I made the complain many phone calls and emails and wanted to get back the reimbursement. Even sent them the supporting email from Airline about their mistake. Still they just ignored my claim. Don't use this company even no need to pay!

Expedia saved me about $200 in 10 minutes. I was at the airport and decided at the last minute to book a car rental. They wanted $49 per day and I said, I saw online that the rates were cheaper... the guy told me too bad, this is the price at the airport. I then went on my iPhone, navigated to expedia and booked the same exact car for $23 a day. Went back to the guy, showed him my confirmation phone number on my car and walked away saving $200. What would we do without internet?

Easy to book

Good experience with Expedia. I had to contact them about a cancelled flight and they went out of their way to help me. Hats off for their customer support agents!
Website is easy to navigate. Their point system for members doesn't seem very attractive and Booking.com often has similar pricing, but all in all a good experience.

Booked a hotel using Expedia last week for a weekend away in NY. The price was fantastic and I had a great stay. We have had some bad experiences in the past with theatre tickets not being delivered but that was resolved. No problems at all this time and I'll keep using Expedia for my travel needs

Booked an expensive intercontinental business class airfare. Airline made changes about which I had no notification ( on complaining to the airline was advised that the booking office, ie Expedia had been notified). Tried to contact Expedia to complain ( and to make sure there are no hiccups on the return leg), but the customer service contact page ( Expedia Thailand English) doesn't open and refers to a phone number in Singapore. Woeful and pathetic.

BEWARE: (Please take time to read before booking through Expedia). I am a long time customer who will be completely withdrawing my business, regardless of travel points. I have booked travel with Expedia for many years. I travel for work and Expedia seemed to provide a simplified platform to book hotels, cars and flights in one go. As of the last few years, it has been increasingly difficult to resolve issues. If you travel often or for work, you will understand what I mean. When the customer is more informed and capable than the customer service, and the customer is having to resolve the problem between hotel or airline while customer service stands by in confusion, this is a sign of an incompetent and sloppy business.
