Great platform for trading. Very straightforward and not at all scammy like a lot of trading sites can be. Test test test

Top Critical Review

“WORSE customer service ever”

It went from the best online platform to trade to the WORSE since it got bought by Morgan Stanley! If you need to talk with someone FORGET about it. You get placed in a waiting line for 30 to 50 minutes. You end up hanging up, tired of waiting.

E Trades customer service was outstanding before Morgan Stanley merger went through. Now my card gets locked every other weekend. I have literally had to get a new debit card 5 times since this merger happened. I maintain a balance of 10k or more in my account at all times and rarely have access to my money on weekends. Switching brokerage accounts asap.

Tip for consumers:
I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Horrible interface if you need to reset your password. Super frustrating, can't do it online, requires you call customer service with up to 30-minute wait, and then when you go to give them feedback in their feedback form to improve their system it says "unsafe characters in comments are not allowed", even took out all the hyphens - icing on the cake

I sent them a fax to open an account. Still no reply after 9 days. I call them to hear what happened. They said that it can't be opened. It would have been nice to receive an email... Only positive thing: there is a human being picking up the phone and being able to answer questions.

Awful customer service! Hour long hold times and I have had to call FIVE TIMES to simply get a back-door Roth conversion done. This is not something they allow you to do yourself online and they screw it up every step of the way... My son did this in one 20 minute call with Fidelity. It was all handled. I have spent an entire day of my time on it due to the incompetence of Etrade service reps...

Tip for consumers:
This extraordinarily poor level of customer service needs to be publicized so they might do something to fix this situation. I am writing this while on their call in line again – waiting.

Etrade was a good broker until they changed their PDT restrictions. Apparently in November they changed this. If your account gets flagged they wont lift the restriction after 90 days. Every single broker since the begging of time lifts the ban after 90 days. My account was flagged in october right before they changed the rules. Absolutely crazy. Also, no notice to the public. Didnt know a thing about it. They should atleast make an exception for people who got flagged before they changed this. Wont be using them anymore.

When I deposit funds electronically, Etrade does not give credit for those funds for about 10 days, so you will likely miss opportunities as I did. Also, 27 days ago, I requested to move cash from Etrade to another online platform, and the money still hasn't moved. I've called and called, but the queue is always over 60 minutes during regular hours; I finally called at 6:30 am and got through their phone line in only 17 minutes. Dan with Etrade stated that it was the other company's fault that Etrade rejected the transfer without telling me or the other platform. When I asked how long electronic transfers should happen, Dan stated they normally only take about a week. Etrade makes their money by holding your cash for as long as they can hold it, which would be fine if it weren't costing me opportunities to invest when I'm ready.

They allowed hundreds of thousands of dollars to be hacked from my account as well as my parents. The hacker was able to attach his account to my own without my knowledge or consent as if he were a family member. He then stole my funds and put them into his own account instantaneously and continued to take funds for several days. I discovered the fraud transfers, reported the issues and told them about it and they said that they would remove the fraudulent account and block their ability to make any more fraudulent accounts. 8 days later, with the same fraudulent account that should have been blocked, he hacked into my parents account and attempted to steal more money. He then took the funds from any accounts that were linked and took their information as well. Their response has not only been rude, but entirely malicious to the point that we will be removing the remaining funds. I have many different existing banks where the hacker tried to get in and they were immediately blocked. Your money is absolutely not secure with Etrade or Morgan Stanley if they remain as indifferent about their jobs to secure your banking data as they were with mine.

For the past month we have been called by both legitimate and fraudulent banks, opening credit cards, accounts and paypal purchases in our names. It is difficult, if not impossible to fight everything because every morning there is something new.

Get in touch with coinwalletrecoup. Com to help you recover all your scammed funds. I got in touch with them when i was scammed by eTrade to be precise, having deposited over $75,000 but still couldn't withdraw any funds. They kept on telling me to deposit more to reach a certain amount but still couldn't withdraw then it dawned on me that these people were playing games with my money.
Within a week of contact, Coinwalletrecoup. Com did the impossible, they recovered everything and also my ROI for the agreed duration of investment.
Dont hesitate to contact them if you need any help. They're the Best out there.

6:35 PM. Been listening to their Hold music for 1:16:02. The purse insolence of this company is amazing. Most companies have the grace of calling you back when it's your turn, but obviously not E*Trade.
Tomorrow I move my 2.2M investment over to Raymond James.

I have several accts with other brokerages and wanted to see if E-Trade had a decent tool for Mutual Funds and ETFs and found a very poor;y thought out tool...no simple way to view 1/3/5/10/life returns, in fact even when using the drop-down to view a 3 year the results did not give me any info...I am usually a fairly tech-savvy person, so if I missed something, it wasn't easily found and for me, it means time to move on. Now I am looking to reverse my transfer of money to the new acct and my on-hold time is greater than 30 mins. On a Saturday evening? Call a real platform and get help in 2-5 mins. Another sign I need to move on from E TRADE.

Tip for consumers:
Stick with a Schwab acct...Even Fidelity is better than this and they are not as good as Schwab. The research tools are terrible and will not help anyone looking to do do a deep dive

Etrade's website hangs up during peak trading times, and I was blocked from placing a trade on Friday just before mkt close. Was clearly their server not responding b/c I was able to load and access Gmail/yahoo/Schwab just fine. By the time it let me into my accnt to place a trade, 3 min later, the mkt was closed. Never once had even a slight delay from Schwab. I also like Schwab's trading interface much better (w/ Real time quotes and basic stock trading range history & your ownership on the same page) than Etrade's. I used to like Etrade much better, but they attrophied over the years while Schwab greatly upped their game.

I added money to my account with the intention of buying some stock. It went in as a contribution and didn't go toward purchasing stock so I chatted online with the company and found out I owe fees they never told me about. I didn't get a notification, email, or even a letter in the mail. Why wouldn't you let your customer know you owe them money? I don't understand the logic behind that. E*Trade needs to be more transparent if they want you to trust them with your money. I was forced to join because they took over my Capital One investment account. How difficult would it be to add a notification online so you know where you stand?

I got ripped off by this bogus broker recently it was difficult to get a withdrawal after several failed attempts. I had to hire a recovery solution company to get my funds back. Glad this is finally over for me.

If you are a victim of Etrade please reach out to me by mail on Petmich432(at)GmaiL, com and I would refer you to the reputable recovery company who got my refund of 21,500.00 from etrade after just 3 weeks of investigations. Please note the police could not help for months

Based on the phone call we just received [Despite repeated attempts to communicate via email, they insist on calling us.], we will be moving all our current investments away from ETrade, and we will find somewhere else to invest. We will be doing this due to lack of confidence. Allow me to illustrate.

We sent paperwork to change our account (from individual to Joint) in April. Late April we received an email that ETrade attempted to contact us via phone and didn't have the right number. I replied in less than 90 minutes with the correct number. I did not receive a call (that I recognized) or nor a voicemail identifying who is calling from a given number. Two weeks later I reached out again (via email). I receive no "out of the office" notification. I reiterated my issue and asked for assistance again. No reply. Two weeks later I AGAIN reached out. No OOTO, no reply. Another week, another email. Finally my wife picks up the phone because the caller ID actually says ETrade. We get a gentleman on the phone who tells us:

Jessica has been on maternity leave. Since when? How does she not have a backup? How is there not an automated reply? How does a company the size of ETrade have no processes in place? And how do they expect me to feel confident with them managing my money?

We are also told:
There is a backlog in paperwork
Ours will be processed in order it was received
ETrade can provide NO ESTIMATE whatsoever as to when the paperwork will be completed.

So, not only has it been MONTHS for paperwork to process, but ETrade is so disorganized that they cannot even give me an estimate of when that paperwork will be done. We have been waiting to move my 401k from a trust that is not earning any interest. So we have now lost 2+ months of interest, or something in the ballpark of $3-5k, and they can't tell me how much more I will lose by staying with ETrade. We are cutting our losses. Would not recommend for anyone.

I have had an account with etrade for a few years now and compared to other brokers, the fees are high and the customer service is not any better than any other broker. I think there are much better options out there.
