Buyer beware,
I have spent a fortune buying door lock hardware from this disreputable company. Emtek refuses to stand by their product. We have been trying to get the defective Emtek hardware replaced to no avail. Early March 2023 Tech support agreed door width was correct per order via video chat and admitted sometime factory clearances are off and locks don't work. A replacement part was sent to remedy, arriving end of March 2023, sadly it failed to restore functionality. We called again to request a return of the 2 defective locks and spoke with tech support Emtek's Brian. At first he agreed to send replacements out and would accept return of the defects. However he then back tracked. He vacillated saying door was wrong size, trying every trick to somehow make it our fault not Emtek's.
Very unprofessional in light of the fact that in early March a video chat withEntekestabliahed door thickness was correct and hardware was defective. Our Master Carpentar, licensed with 30 years experience is being paid hourly to attempt fix Emtek hardware both times & tech support made us go through all the same scripted troubleshooting, very frustrating and very costly. Beware.
We have now paid $465 for 2 identical defective locks from Emtek, installation cost is currently at $750 with defective Emtek locks that will never work. Per initial video chat with tech early March, the clearances on Emtek's hardware are "not spec as occasionally happens." Door width was checked at that time and refuted as causality. 3/29/23 more money wasted with video chat with Emtek tech who refused to accept responsibility for defective merchandise gracefully.
We have had 3 licensed master Carpentar's review the install and each one has come to exact same conclusion; Emtek sold defective door mechanisms, period. We are out the cost of the locks $456, and $750 in install labor. The doors were special order 1 3/8 solid core 8' x 3' useless now because they are cut out for Emtek's non functional hardware.
To remove, replace, start over is about 2k per door. Emtek could have at very least suggested an alternate model lock they sell which we could use, so we don't have to start over and trash these expensive doors.
CONCLUSION
1) Emtek refuses to stand behind their products
2) Emtek techs seemed to be trained to blame consumer / installers for their defective hardware
3) Emtek tech support Brian continually spoke over us, he was not interested in what Carpentar or myself had to say. He did not care to listen or help at all. Steer clear.
Conclusion: EMTEK DOES NOT DO THE RIGHT THING AND DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT.
Do not buy from this company.
