I was trying to rent a car through their platform at the airport after my original provider failed to collect me. It was late at night, and I was with my wife and young son—not exactly the best time to focus on fine details. I rushed through the booking on their website and, without meaning to, added the extra protection. They have access to my booking history going back six or seven years and can clearly see I have never once purchased additional protection. I have no need for it—my bank already provides full coverage for rental car accidents. This was plainly a mistake. The booking was for 00:05 the following day, and I placed it about 20 minutes before that. When the new car rental provider arrived just after midnight, I realised I had unintentionally selected the protection add-on. This was before I signed anything with the rental company—the agreement wasn't completed until 00:58. I immediately tried to cancel the protection through EconomyCarRentals' website, but the cancellation option was disabled. I phoned their support line and was advised to email, which I did—again, before signing any documents with the rental provider. Their customer service then replied, saying there was nothing they could do: the cancellation, they claimed, had to be made before the rental began. Despite my explanation that this was a clear error, and that I had contacted them by phone and email before the contract was signed, they stopped replying altogether. It is deeply irresponsible to profit from mistakes made by loyal customers. It is equally troubling to avoid resolving an issue by simply blaming the customer and refusing further engagement. I had been a loyal customer for seven or eight years. But this experience made it painfully clear: no matter how loyal you are, they will do nothing for you if it involves giving money back.

I booked a rental car for €183 through EconomyCarRentals. They charged me €64 upfront and stated that the remaining balance would be paid directly to the car rental provider. However, when I arrived, the rental company refused to honor that arrangement and made me pay the full amount again. I was told to claim the €64 back from EconomyCarRentals, but they have since refused to refund me.
This feels like another form of online fraud, and it's incredibly disappointing. I strongly advise others to be cautious when booking through this company.
Car hire was not delivered to Brisbane airport as requested. I had to texts to say the shuttle bus would be 20 minutes. We waited 70 minutes. Economy car rentals will not refund the deposit paid
Gasket company between you and real rental company. Doesn't keeps any responsibilities for their services, only books car from third (real rental) company. Works with little-known rental service companies, which are trying to cheat your money in any possible ways. When the third party refused to give proper services this economycarrentals also refused from their obligations referring to non-essential circumstances. They didn't propose any solution from their side, only stated that agreed with third party whose statements were based on that, what they want unjustified benefits - money. Also, they (economycarrentals) even didn't make any apologies. Never use this service!, better take verified companies like Avis, Green motion, Sixt etc.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS CAR RENTAL TAMPA BAY. For starter they claim to be at Tampa airport. No where near it. They have a shuttle …. That runs every 45 minutes. We looked at their term and conditions and what was needed at pick up. Nothing about having to have your entire automobile policy on you. Even after we proved we had proper insurance with a added rental car policy added they still insisted we had to have their coverage which was another 300 American dollar. The short time we were there several people came into their office screaming at the worker and management. This place is beyond unprofessional. This isn't even a second rate car company. When I called my insurance adjuster he couldn't believe what I was telling him. Stay as far away from this car rental agency as possible. I made this reservation through booking.com so I assumed they would be reputable. Sham on booking.com for using this rental agency. Because of this experience I will not be dealing with them

I had a terrible experience with EconomyCarRentals and their so-called "reimbursement insurance" policy. I trusted their service for a car rental, but when I was rear-ended by another driver, I learned the hard way that their insurance promises are misleading.
I paid all costs upfront as required and followed every instruction to file my claim—submitted documents, photos, and reports, and informed the local car agency. Despite doing everything correctly, they initiated a drawn-out process to recover the money from the at-fault driver. When they discovered the driver was uninsured, they told me I'd have to wait up to 3 YEARS to get reimbursed while they attempt to recover the funds themselves.
This is not what insurance is supposed to do! Instead of protecting their customers, they push all the financial and emotional burden onto you. Their policy is a sham, and their customer service offers no solutions or accountability.
Don't fall into the same trap—avoid this company at all costs. Their low prices might seem tempting, but you'll pay for it in the end. Choose a reputable provider that actually honors their commitments and values their customers.
Don't forget that EconomyCarRentals is a broker who finds available car rental companies among the rental companies. Their policy when a rental is changed in one way or another (e.g. Arriving late) is very broad and allows them to practically let you down and run off with your deposit regardless of the reason. If your flight or your ferry arrived late that's your problem.
This is what happened to me. As I arrived more than 30 minutes late, the company treated this as a "no show", therefore when I arrived, my car was no longer available (for a 4 days rental!) and I was left to my own devices and without a car with all my luggage. I contacted EconomyCarRentals and was lectured that I should have notified them of my delay and that my deposit was lost. So please don't do business with them! Instead, deal directly with the rental company rather than a broker!
Economy Car Rentals Review of service on 6/14/2024.
1. Turned away at airport and did not get car.
2. Had to go to other vendors at airport and pay on the spot rental elevated prices.
3. Economy Car Rental telephone operators tell they have no way to refund money taken several months ago by Economy Car Rental. Unfortunately this charge might become minor to how much loss of no car or upgraded charges of other rental company immediate sale or no car at all.
4. Long telephone wait time.
5. No such company found at Mexico, Tulum. Does this company actually have cars to rent or is it just a 3'rd party that has no responsibility several months after fee they charge prior to actual rental?
Rental of car on 6/14/2024.
Car was provided through Hertz at Mexico, Tulum Airport and was declined by Hertz at airport office. Hertz confirmation number provided was valid but Hertz told me and others from Economy Car Rental that they had no cars for us. Other people that rented from Hertz did have cars. NO upgrades offered and we had been turned away.
I am guessing that our rates had been lower that that of Hertz customers. This has never happened to me in 20 years on any continent.
You do not want to be placed in this situation on your trip. Pay the higher cost from companies having cars to rent.
We had money taken from our bank account by the car rental company because Economy Car Rental didn't inform us about the significant extra cost and are now not responding to our request to provide the paperwork to justify the extra cost taken from our bank account without even informing us. We initially paid the full amount when picking up the car and then a month later almost 1000NZD was taken from our bank account. We have been trying to sort it out for more than two months and so far they keep delaying without providing any justifiable reason and not responding directly to the claim.
I had a rental booked with them about a month in advance. My connecting flight was a little delayed. So I got in at 1230am ish I booked on Expedia under unlimited milage.
When I got to the desk I was told there was a surprise 1000 hold that needed to be put on my card WTF, but whatever it was after midnight. I told him okay because I just want to go to my parents and asked if what the best way to get to the keys was. He let me know that I couldn't go to the keys. That "it was over my allowed miles" I let him know my reservation was unlimitated and he told me that FL people do not get unlimited miles. He was sorry but he was refusing me (30 year old female) the car and would cancel my reservation. I had to get shuttled back to the cardepo where everything was closed.
I fell asleep at the depo sometime around 3 am and my luggage was stolen. I had to book a last-minute car to get to my family which was 4 times as much.

I have been using the service for 10 years. I ask you to withdraw the good reviews that I wrote about them. The service has definitely deteriorated. The last 2 bookings were a negative experience. Payment was taken twice: on the website and at the car dealership. The dealership gave me a different car than the one I had booked, in poor condition. Prepayment cannot be returned. Long correspondence with this company does not lead to results. It is clear that the company is in a sad state and will close soon. Unfortunately, you will have to give them up forever. I don't recommend it!
I booked car in Phuket Airport using Website EconomyCarRentals. I paid 21$ (prepayment) using my debit card. When I was booking there was no information about the necessity to provide credit (no debit) card.Then after my payment they sent me voucher where they added: "Please check the required Driver Requirements in this location as well as the Payment part with details about accepted credit cards and guarantee amount which will be reserved/charged on the credit card of the driver, in the terms and conditions you have accepted and have been sent to you with this voucher." But I have already payed! Paid with debit card! They accepted it! Then I visited office of Thai Rent car (provider) in airport in Phuket. They couldn't give me the car because I don't have credit card. I have only debit card. And then EconomyCarRentals said that my payment is unrefundable. They said that I had to have credit card, not debit. But how can I know it? Why did you take my debit payment!? It is horrible! This is not a good business. They just take client's money without providing service. I paid but I didn't get car. Not recommend them! Awfull!
Total and complete ripoff! Unlike any other reputable rental companies, they misrepresented insurance and toll information and price. I watched other customers similarly frustrated give in and just pay. They were attempting to charge me 5-6 times what Expedia had quoted. The rental agent requested my insurance declaration page, promising that would eliminate the insurance charge. I gave it to him and then he reneged. When I asked for the manager he said there was none, and he refused to give me his name. In addition to their unethical behavior I should also point out that Economy's rental location in Miami is not in the Rental Car Center, but is in a dangerous and unsafe area.
Absolutely cheat and scam company that will not let you change a booking due to an honest date error nor will let you cancel and rebook. I recently booked a car rental through Expedia like I always have and to my shock, even an Expedia agent could not change or cancel my booking. I called the company directly twice and was outrightly told that they cannot accommodate my request. It's Expedia approved vendor and should be removed and blacklilsted from their options. Their rates are very cheap when you click on "Great Deal" but non modifiable and non cancellable. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed with Expedia. Don't be fooled by this Mom & Pap company called "Economy Car Rental". I paid and lost $33.
Book a rental online got to the site they stated I'm not allowed to get a rental due to I'm a resident of the state of Georgia they only rent to otter state individuals I called for a refund they told me non refund banks can't do nothing about it. Truist bank is terrible they took $247.00 & only return $ 9.00
They Cancelled with no alternative given. We rented a car. Got charged and a confirmed reservation … we arrived in Iceland and were told the reservation had been cancelled 5 minutes (literally) before we were to start it. I called customer service and were told they they would not find a car. Period. Do not use this company, they will leave you hanging
We made our reservation and paid in full 2 weeks in advance for a week of car rental in the amount of $242. We did an early check in a day before the rent. Due to a flight delay and Economy' poor instructions for the shuttle bus we were 2 hours late to pick up the car. Economy changed us additional $130 for 2 hours that we already paid in full in advance. When we refused to pay they refused to give us a car and refused to refund. They were extremely rude, laughing and kept saying that the delayed flight is not their problem and that the fact that we already paid in full doesn't matter. Save yourself a heartache and NEVER RENT A CAR WITH ECONOMY!
