“My favorite auction site”

My favorite auction sites. Items tend to go for a bit more but the items are handled with care and in good condition.

“Stay Away”

Stay away. Absolutely terrible. Doesn't respond to questions about auction items. Outrageous shipping on small easy to pack items. If you don't pick up immediately they charge huge storage fees per the week. Communication is poor you tell them not so ship and then they ship a small light item for $50. I buy a lot from online auctions and never had an experience as bad as with this auction house. Really shady.

Positive experience overall.
Item was well photographed, with sufficient details to make a several thousands of dollars purchase.
Pleasant customer service, very quick shipping, well packaged.
However, the condition, was less than described, with remnants of old lacquer coating to the kettle stand, which were
NOT noted in EBTH listing, which will cost me several hundred to remedy.
All told, I will purchase on EBTH again, and recommend to silver dealers and collectors.

I've been an antique dealer for 35 years and I've discovered this site as a good reference for what is trending. I also enjoy purchasing.

I have purchased a few item from this website so far and have been completely happy with my purchases. I will most definitely be buying again and have recommended it to a few people as well. The only real draw back is the added time at the end of the auction.

I really like the EBTH site, and would bid on and win more items, other than local auctions, if combined shipping on multiple items won. By having to pay the standard shipping rate on each item won makes the total cost prohibitive, so I refuse to bid to win on more than one item from each auction.

Ive been using EBTH for about two months now. Ive bought some great things at a very low prices. I dont understand why people are complaining when they get something for $1.00 and the shipping is more. Be grateful you won an item at that price. Your item may expensive to ship based on weight, distance, awkward to ship, etc.

It kills me when people are so cheap when you won a great piece for next to nothing.

I bought a piece of furniture and it was damaged when it arrived. There also werent any pictures on the listing showing some flaws on the item. Between the damage and lack of information, they gave me a refund. I found them to be courteous, prompt, and efficient about remedying the situation.

I have purchased over a dozen or more items from EBTH and thus far have had no issues. Shipping was fast, items were packaged well and items came in as described. I will continue to use this sight to find the interesting items that are available through EBTH.

I was able to get a complete set of sterling sliver flatware, service for 12, plus all the serving pieces imaginable, for an absolutely unbeatable price. I'd been lusting for it for years, and I don't know what I did to get so lucky! That said, I have to mention some complaints about furniture shipping. I'll never bid on furniture again. The first piece was a Victorian slipper chair that arrived with a broken leg and I had to send it out for repair. The second was a loveseat that was delivered with grease stains and no seat cushions. Third was an important piece of art that arrived with a broken frame. I really love almost all the items I've purchased, but EBTH has a problem with the folks who work in the packing shed -- it would appear that they have no appreciation for the value of the items they're preparing for shipment.

I don't like the way the time is extended 5 minutes if someone bids at the end. That is not fair. There is a place to put your maximum bid and if you are outbid and time runs out the auction should be over. Put your max bid at what you are willing to spend and let the clock run. No extension. And then I was charged double the shipping then what was quoted. I would have rated 5 stars if it weren't for these two complaints. With that said I have purchased many items over the past few years and have been very happy with them.

Take care when identifying the object you are bidding on. The auction site cannot be "all knowing" any more than a live auctioneer can be an expert on all types of glassware, pottery or antiques. You must use your own expertise and research as you are bidding and assume the ultimate responsibility. I have been very pleased with the items I have purchased although one item was lost and never received and 1 purchase delivery was delayed to the point I was afraid it was also lost. This is a fabulous way to have an eye on items across the nation that I otherwise would never have seen nor had a chance to bid on or to own. Most of the items I have purchased have been delicate in nature (glassware) and I have had no damage whatsoever!

Finding unique items and being involved in the bidding is fun. I have a beautiful pair of earrings that I might never have found in a store. The only complaint is the shipping cost -- that seems inflated. When I ship and insure an item, it doesn't cost me nearly as much as ebth charges!

Great site. Happy with purchases. But the delivery times are so slow and especially in light of the high delivery fees. Example: bought a small purse for $79. Delivery fees came to $20. And the item took forever to get here.

Tip for consumers:
Exercise patience while waiting for your items. Be prepared for high delivery fees.

I like the fact that I feel safe in the reliable description of items up for auction. The ease of bidding and shipping are pluses.

I have won many great items on EBTH. Customer Service is really good. However, If you're buying gems, jewelry - I recommend you have it examined & appraised quickly.

I purchased a loose gemstone, which would have been a great find - EBTH stated it had been verified, as authentic by their GIA certified gemologist.

However, my jewellers, GIA GG & Certified brought me the news it was "GLASS."

So for my review I've had smaller items shipped to my house, I've gone to a warehouse to pick up items, and I've picked up items directly at a seller's residence. I once had a large piece delivered locally which was probably the least user friendly experience mainly because 1. It took so long and 2. They only notified me the day of that they were going to bring the piece. So they left the large furniture item on my front porch, thankfully it was a covered porch.

Picking up items at a seller's home has been the easiest although generally I've only purchased items I could carry out on my own and that could fit in my car. Keep in mind if you're doing this the staffing at these sales are minimal and you're expected to carry out your own stuff or bring your own help. Also once I bought several glasses, you need to bring your own boxes/packing items just FYI they don't provide this either. Once I picked up at a warehouse where there was a surcharge for picking up these items, these weren't particularly user friendly either since the signage at these pick-ups weren't very clear, and I had to walk a fair distance in the warehouse to pick up my item. Although they were small furniture items it was still a bit of a trek carrying something a bit cumbersome. Also if there is a pick up surcharge generally the charge is applied to each item won so be sure you read the fine print when bidding.

Some items I've had shipped and again its been mixed results. For fragile items such as glass there have been two instances where some damage has occurred. Thankfully for one of the items the outside of the box was partially torn when I got home, so I did take pictures of the outside of the box. Once I opened the box several items were damaged inside which I was sure to take pictures of those items as well. I was expecting a pro-rated refund of the shipping of just the damaged items, but they refunded the entire shipping costs. Although I was still a bit disappointed given the poor packing of this particular purchase. Other fragile items have arrived no problem so its been a mixed bag.

I have bought about 20 items from EBTH. They have all been BARGAINS. Once was a box of ornaments I bought for $51. I had to drive quite a ways to pick them up, but was thrilled to find 150 total in the box. I sold the first one for $175. Tables, chairs, barstools, garden items, holiday, I have been happy with all of them. But I would caution everyone to stick to the true estate sales. I have carefully avoided all art, electronics, sports memrobilia, rugs, and especially JEWELRY!

After a few purchases, I have found EBTH the love to there word. I have always received my product in a timely fashion, and always packaged to make it here with no damage. It's a good peace of mind to know you will get what you purchased, and not damaged goods. Look forward to my next purchases.

The necklace I won was exactly as described. Happy with the experience. Shipping can be followed using the tracking number, and that progress is fun to watch.

I discovered EBTH a little over a year ago. Since then I have had winning bids in the categories of antiques, furniture, glass, porcelain and ceramics, jewelry, decor (mirror, wall sconces, and others), oil paintings, old coins, books, clothing (great deal on a black leather zip-up car coat with an attached fur-trimmed hood), and shoes; I could go on and on but there have been so many I can't remember them all. It is important to look carefully at every picture given for the item, the written description, and the comments given at the end, because sometimes an item looks bigger than it is, and that has made me overdid a couple of times. What I don't like is that sometimes the site does not give you an accurate size description, and sometimes the shipping cost seems high. Overall, though, I love either and highly recommend it. I check for new sales every day (sometimes there are as many as 34 with hundreds of items in a sale!

LOVE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE SOME GREAT THINGS FOR MY HOME AND FAMILY! THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS SHIPPING IS HIGH OR PICK UP TIMES ARE TO SOON WITHOUT MANY OPTIONS! OTHERWISE IT'S A FUN SALE! NEVER HAD TO PICK UP SO CAN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT BECAUSE I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE.

All the fun of an auction! Can see items from all over the country. From the finest crystal and artwork to baskets and bicycles. All the designer apparel you could want. Cars, appliances...
You can "watch" or bid. Great fun. Got some great stuff. A little slow in the packing up and shipping but they are up front about that. Be patient.

My first experience with online bidding other than EBay and Craigslist. Their site was very professional with content critical. Site easy to navigate. I found an Estate Sale close to me and bought two super cool items that I had never even thought of before. Fun shopping! You pay in advance and then come to get your items on the pick up day assigned.
Staff is there to quickly get your items to you and that's it. There were no clear directions given to get into this gated community... frustrating. Every buyer had to find a way to sneak in after someone opened gate to get in or out. Lots of people were complaining about that to staff.
I got an authentic Framed African Batik signed by artist for $6.
Also got a sugar bowl, spoon, and creamer for $26. They are from a famous African Artist and currently sell on her website for just over $300.
I look forward to checking out the Southwest Florida sales every week!
I sound like an employee, nope, just a young disabled woman who has a great place for deals. Lots of pictures too.
BTW... 2nd experience days later at Www.zipauction.com... Aaaaaaaaaaargh! Never Again!

I pursued EBTH's shipping policy and challenged them to justify shipping cost. They did end up reducing the shipping rate from $71.83 to $23.76 which I believe is more in line for this type of logistics service.

I bought quite a few things on EBTH over the past year or so. I have noticed that shipping cost have been going up. They claim anything purchased over $100 requires more insurance or some nonsense. I bought a tin toy airplane that weighs about 1 pound. The shipping and packing was $75.00. Thats total BS. Here's a hint to all, if you see something you like on EBTH search for it on EBAY if the price makes sense buy it there. The delivery will be much faster and muuuuuch cheaper.

The reason for the 4stares is because with say China you can clearly see that piece should go together with other pieces but then they break it up into smaller sets I think it should all be as one set other than that I love it.
