Former user and I'm here to give an honest review of the site.

Moderation:
Moderation is terrible. There's only 33 moderation staff for a site that's nearly 17 years old AND owned by a sex toy company. Only a few mods were helpful and nice during my time. The punishment system is terrible. No mutes for commenting abuse, no warnings for anything, no post uploads reductions just ban ban ban! 3 bans and you're permanently banned. Mass downvoting on comments that are weird and creepy? Ban. Unknowingly post art from an artist who became "conditional dnp" because the last time you uploaded art from them they weren't "conditional dnp"? Ban. Found porn you like and you comment "I wish I was them"? Ban. Telling mods to delete blacklisted Posts? (e.g. Young/cub) Ban. Don't even bother with trying to do a ban appeal because it'll never be replied to. You can try contacting the lead admin if you're desperate. Some actions that you should be able to do e.g. replace and delete posts are mod tools so you have to ask a mod to do those things which is inconvenient.

Posting:
Posting is fine but does have a few flaws like having all vids be.webm format and posts waiting to be approved is annoying. There are loopholes to posting which once found, can be easily abused. Another thing about posting is for posting art from certain artists for example, can be VERY competitive or dominant we're talking about the the-artist-just-uploaded-that-10-seconds-ago type of dominance and competition. The last time I checked before I left nearly all of one of the certain artists posted on there lately is all one user and rarely a different user.

Blacklisted Posts/comments:
While the Blacklist option is there for an (unfortunate) reason, it is concerning how much "young/cub" tags are on explicit content and the comments on those types of posts are disgusting because it's literally cp! All you get for asking the mods to do someting about it, you'll just get "Just blacklist it!" There are other disgusting nsfw blacklists that I can't list here.

Accounts:
When you signed up to e621.net, you're account will be up there permanently and you can't delete the account nor your posts. Once you posted/create the account it stays there. You just have to abandon it and let it get caught up in the spring cleaning they do in order to leave e621.net.

Overall don't sign up there and get dragged into the drama there and just browse. I hope this review helps.

I've been using e621 for nearly a decade and the more recent times on that website have seen for the worst. I mostly stay low to get what I want from that website and that's it. Admins are hellbent of banning people left and right no matter if you voice your complaints about some certain things even if it's a fair complaint.

Recently "Jasonafex" and "Kabier" artwork have been uploading on e621 for the past few months and almost immediately nearly everyone decides to be against it due to their $#*!ty history with the furry fandom and overall not good people in general. What do the admins do? Banned the people who was vocal about not allowing "Jason" and "Kab" artwork on e621. Always saying "Use your blacklist" like that would get rid of the problem for the user even though it's still on the website in plain view. Don't get me started on loads of cub/loli content that e621 still allows while most dedicated furry websites have banned any explicit cub art on their site for the can of worms that contains. It's not going to stop people from making cub art regardless but for a site that supposed it's not a "Adult website" you sure easily can bypass to view the explicit cub art (Guests can no longer see extreme content fetishes) by simply deleting the words off of the users blacklist and type in "cub" at the search bar after you created an account. Website have no proof on how old you are unless you stupidly tell someone for attention if you're underage and then the admins will permanently ban you till you're the right age by some proof of ID.

Top it off if you make a joke, say anything remotely sexual to a corresponding content or some kind of threat (One guy about 3 years ago named "Krovi" said he was about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge and the admins banned him for it for "Trolling" which I am still livid about it.) and your $#*! is getting the ban hammer at full force. The ONLY good thing about this website is to find recent furry content since there is maybe 800+ media files get uploaded every 24 hours so content density isn't really a concern. But the very unfair rules, $#*!ty admins and poor hidden content makes me stay the $#*! away from that disaster. If you want something better than E6 then I recommend fur-affinity. It's not perfect either but it's much more fair for the rules and content that it have on that website.

Overall, E621 is a $#*!ing headache to use! Unless you want to see recent artist content that they post freely on a image hosting website, Avoid this website at all cost if you can! (Last edit for grammar and better word choices: 8/27/2023)

(Website Update: 9/3/2023) - A user who (I will mark out the name and others for) said these exact same words "I wish I was a Lucario" with over 50+ upvotes, got received a warning by an admin called "Cinder" due to being an "Inappropriate comment" from a image that was explicit but it was an after transformation of a Lucario that was once human. I decided to reply with the user saying "The admins are mentally insane, I find all sorts of similar comments around other transformation pictures across e621 and they got no sorts of any punishment." And less than 24 hours after I made a reply to that certain user I got a warning from the same admin (Cinder) basically saying "It's very rude of you to say that. Mind your business." which is very ironic because the people who say all sorts of $#*! like in those transformation pictures on that website do not get ANY sort of punishment at all. Plus I was only replying to that user only who I think is getting treated unfairly for sure so I was minding my own business but hey I am not a abusive tyrant so what can I say besides this? I grab a few screenshots of other people saying similar things and got no form of warning or ban for saying $#*! similar to what the "Lucario fanatic" said and yet, no warning or punishment at all! This is further proof that this website is nearly a catastrophic nuclear wasteland and I strongly recommend using Fur Affinity instead for furry media. E621 is a piece of $#*! website for real.

I have been subject to various abuse by the staff of e621 multiple times. I was being harrassed by the trans community on there for being gay and they claimed I was being a bigot even though I was the victim. I got a record for it. I got a second record for upvoting others being harrassed by them and downvoting the ones harrassing others on the grounds of bigotry which it wasn't in the slightest. I also got a record after being harrassed by the staff for voicing my delight at the last of what I thought was the big three power abusers stepping down. They got horribly aggressive towards me and even threatened me without provokation. Then one of their janitors started harrassing me for doing exactly what he told me to do. They have been having issues with their videos because the video player disappears on some videos. Instead of fixing it they blame the uploader. The sad part is only e621 is having this issue. A lot of people were being ignored on this issue in favor of pointless tag changes. I got slapped with a permaban after this which broke their own policy. They broke so many of their own rules to ban me. It was my first ban ever and they just skipped to permenent. They are so inconsistent with their rulings it's blatent power abuse. For example one member is abusing their no advertisements rule. They constantly upload adverts and the staff turn a blind eye. Anyone who complains gets a permaban for it for no reason whatsoever. In fact looking at the ban reasons shows 99% of the time they are unwarrented and even falsely given as their evidence doesn't add up to the claim. Other times they won't give a reason or they just outright insult the user. Their policies are nonsensical to the point where they contridict each other. Their tagging policy is flawed beyond belief causing arguements over tagging instead of fixing it plus they don't take artists, character owners or comminssioners into account. They are very antiartist and antiuser. They claim to be an archive but they are antiarchive too. No archive would use a singular file type and force users to use a nasa grade computer and jumbotron just to view the site. An archive would provide the posts in several file types to make it more accessible. The staff don't care about actual issues instead they'd rather make pointless and unnecessary tag changes and hand out bans like they are candy than fix anything and make the site actually work. Instead of admitting they are an adult content site they hide behind the excuse that they are an archive which they aren't. 18 years old to make an account, owned by an adult toy company and all of their ads are adult content. You are a lot better off going elsewhere to get your furry adult content.

Edit: Another thing I forgot. So you aren't supposed to insult others in the comments. Ok fine. But it seems to be okay to do so in images you post. I am autistic. I saw one of the janitors insult a user by calling them autistic and they used an image which alerted me to the fact that there's a bunch of images on there insulting people with autism. It wasn't in a joking manner either. It's really hurtful. I was trying to figure out how to report it. I eventually found a forum post which the head admin replied in saying "Just use your blacklist." So they don't care at all if it's in a post but if you said it in a comment then you'll be in trouble. They don't want political or religious discussions in the comments but it seems to be fine in an image. They are so up their own heads about their website thinking it's the best ever. Doesn't explain why people keep leaving because they are done with their bs. As far as my bs ban goes they told me to email for an appeal. They refuse to acknowledge my emails. They are purposely ignoring me because they know they are in the wrong. I very clearly and concisely explained every false record away in the emails but they don't want to admit they were wrong. I really don't want to go back to that site anymore now that it's actually gotten so much worse since I was banned. It's interesting how every other site like this has no issues or abusive admin (minus fur affinity) yet this one is full of it which it wouldn't if the admin weren't abusive jerks and actually knew what they were doing. I could do a much better job. I found an alternate e621. Cc (no spaces). It's essentially the same site but a mobile version of it. Much better as you don't have to deal with their bs there nor worry about a global blacklist.

Edit: Ok the site got even worse. The non-trans members were very concerned with the "no misgendering" rule that was implimented. When asked to clarify the rule the admin danced around the questions. The rule was very vague and poorly written. They wanted clarification because it's an instant ban to break this rule and didn't want to be banned over an accident. None was given as the admin don't care. Some were vocal about this being a way to silence those with differing opinions. The admin indirectly confirmed that. This gives them more ability to abuse their power. This rule was implimented purely to silence anyone who disagrees with the gender identity nonsense the trans members believe in. E621 is a dictatorship now. They instantly banned someone for speaking out against the toxic trans community on there. The person wasn't a troublemaker nor a bigot although he was a jerk from time to time but he never broke any rules. Nothing he said could be considered bigoted in the slightest. It was all the truth and they silenced him. They did it to someone else too. Basically if you aren't trans you aren't welcome there and they will do everything in their power to convert you or chase you away. The trans community on there was very clear about that.

Edit: Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. The admin are bullying artists and false bannng them. Dacad was the one who was banned though temperarily. They claimed tag vandalism but it was false. The admin were vandalizing the tags and locked them. People are up in arms about this and the comments were disabled for some of the guy's posts. The admin claimed it should have been tagged one way but no one else agreed with that as it went against the policy. It's finally becoming apparent to nearly everyone on that site that those idiots in charge don't know what they are doing. I've been saying this for a long time now and was always dismissed. Guess who gets the last laugh. Seriously avoid this site and if you value your artwork get it removed from there.

I gave this site a second chance given that I felt nostalgic for it for being among the first of it's type back then and the biggest when it comes to browse furry artwork. Uploaded my own for a while, tolerating unruly members leaving snarky comments going unchecked most of the time and ignored, but it was still not too big of an issue until I was banned indefinitely being accused of "ban evasion," something I've tried to appeal for a while now.

But even that wouldn't be what made me forget on continuing associated with this site. The last straw was that after the ban, any artwork that was submitted last and even approved was deliberately deleted, making me feel this being done out of spite than anything else. Have tried appealing this even when I stated not coming back to the site but had yet to receive any response about such abuse of power some blatantly do here.

And that's one of many problems this site is plagued with. Trolls go unchecked most of the time and even when reported, some staff will either ignore them or be condensing about it, going as far as declaring that it's not a big deal or even siding with said trolls. More often than not, inflammatory comments seem to be encouraged.

Some staff are also unruly and relentless even, not caring how insensitive they can be and flatout abusing the power given. Makes it hard for an artist to socialize or even feel safe in contributing to the site. The overall time being in it made me uncomfortable to say the least.

And then we have the quality of submission approval. Whenever you submit anything it takes quite a long while for anybody to review and approve, at times said submission going into limbo after 30 days if no action is taken. It doesn't help that you are given a limit to how many files you can submit when ones out are still pending. Some files get out right taken down if they include human characters involved, although there seem to be countless of said art files displayed, some even including characters involved in sexual situations. Some of my submissions would be taken down simply for having flesh colored fur and little else.

And then we got that awful voting system, which seriously undermines artists in my opinion. Especially when trolls abuse it to downvote both art and comments. I never understood what the purpose of it was other than either boost one's confidence or crush it indefinitely. Seems like the site could be better off without it if staff can't or refuse to keep such behavior in check.

Overall the only reason to join this site would be to acquire access to certain content from public view and comment on art and the like, but you could be better off submitting your art anywhere else, especially when there are better sites that are better moderated and prompt on processing submissions.

Ill try to make this short. They try to ignore the actual purpose of their site (I will elaborate in a bit). The amount of hypocritical stuff they do and let their own get away with is dumbfounding. I've seen janitors admins even say stuff that violates tos any day but they dont receive anything yet I dm someone calling then out on their transphobia and I get a profile strike. Keep in mind this was in dms so that means dms aren't private at all. Also another thing is think how much money they generate from other artists, they're generating enough to own multiple companies apparently. So guess who all that money isn't going to? The artists that literally are the sole foundation of the site. Now all of this isnt even mentioning the hate speech and discrimination they let people get away with. They say they'll get rid of any offensive material but I've seen stuff that would be ban worthy stay up for months and still counting even after I've submitted a report. Plus apparently some of the moderators here have some secrets I hear. (EDIT) so heres my first official edit. I've lost all respect for multiple moderators especially milcore due to the fact number 1: they banned a user who was seeking mental help and used the report "trolling and harassment". And 2 I've received a profile strike for comments I've downvoted months ago. Yes you read that right. I've received a strike for downvoting comments. The main feature on the site that they already have moderated so you cant spam. Yet they say I'm spamming even though I'm 100% sure multiple comments were in the same thread. <-- update on this btw. I found out apparently it might've been because I downvoted a moderators comment. Also funfact!: moderators can disable likes and dislikes on their own comments because how petty they are I saw like a handful of comments from bitwolfy that are in the negatives that you now can't like or dislike, now that's pathetic. (now time for me to elaborate) directly from Millcore saying "This is a furry art archive, not a p0rn site." aswell as BitWolfy saying "Good thing this isn't a p0rn site then." you guys recommend p0rn ads. Theirs a 18+ verification when you go on the site. I really dont know why they refuse to think or believe the website that has 75% nsfw content isn't a p0rn site.
