“LOVES these LADIES”

Vickie K.
9/25/23

My Husband and I stopped into Dillards last night (Saturday) and all of these 3 ladies jumped into one of the best customer services attention that I have seen in such a long time. Mary, Patrycya and Maribez were amazing. Answered all our questions and helped us find the perfume that I love. They also gave us some cool samples, which ever happens now a days. We can't thank these ladies enough, they all went above and beyond. We will come back soon to visit them again. Thank you, Ricky and Vickie

“Dillard's the store is far more important than you!”

Mark L.
2/6/24

I have had several experiences with Dillard's and have purchased many things so there was something I gained each time. At least that's what I had rationalized in retrospect. However, the bad experiences have begun accumulating and everything I had gained is no longer worth the absolute disinterest and disdain the management has for its customers. This attitude has unfortunately permeated much of the staff so they have been thoroughly brainwashed into the company over the customer experience and there are a small few who have retained their respect and have tried to make everyone feel welcome and wished for them to enjoy themselves while hopefully leaving some money for the company as a reward for being a partner not an oppressive policy making regime that forgot the most basic of all tenants of successful retail…"we like you we're happy you're here and we want you enjoy being here no matter who you are so we can hopefully develop a relationship with you so you can come back and feel the same as you did this time." That's what the one star I gave was for the still wanting to be wonderful staff." I'm not going to go much further into specific detail here because that would be devoting far too much time to company that is rude and full of non active listeners who are brainwashed to regurgitate policies designed as only their supposed financial protection of what you give them even if ultimately they took the money and gave out literally nothing. Basically, the gained the ability to have a policy and wield authority but they simply never manage a store because wielding authority is not supposed to actually be the point of the manager position for the best retailers because they are really just make sure they can solve issues and do menial manager behind the scenes tasks so other managers can see what you did on a given day. More important though is supposed to be making customers happy so the money keeps coming and everyone can continue to enjoy themselves because that is the key to the money coming and in bigger and bigger amounts. I have continued to have awful awful experiences that have gotten worse and worse because no one there taught anyone to feel good and hopefully get the policies right. I've obviously had great managerial experience in this field and I know how to make people want to plan their next visit before they leave and look forward to it. Dillard's simply wants to get it done get some money and get you out hopefully in a way that guarantees the only thing permanent is that amount of money they just got from you no matter what is fair and deserved and is common sense. This company has robbed common sense and fairness from its employees who are expected to not take a real good look at the situation so that the one entity they ultimately are expected to please is just Dillard's. That's the real number one here. They were desperate to cut me off as rudely at times as possible despite the mountain of merchandise I had at the register so my fun I thought was no longer seeming that fun or worth any money at all. Then finally they wanted to force me, the customer who was so kind and nice and happy and spent more money than anyone left in the store at the same time, to go out some other door they decided despite my car being just a few feet outside that one thankfully I thought because my sciatica will really have me suffering so much just for my desire to shop such that I can barely walk but I'm trying to not let anyone see it one my face. Then again why do I have to point out even one of hundreds of reasons that some factor really demands that I get to go out the door I care to in with my HUGE BAGS and still a smile on my face and Dillard's with lots of cash and the exit is not into the mall. No one needs to make me do anything since there is absolutely nothing to gain for Dillard's over not opening the door I choose to the parking lot for it's proximity and the store's decision to offer it to people who only need that door for a reason. On the way out they would rather KICK someone out a door they decide and to top it all out imply that they are about to get security on you when the entire unpleasant and disgusting now situation could have been solved by granting a wish or request for that last customer who made a decision to choose Dillard's and wanting nothing but to leave as a wonderful customer by using those manager keys in the hand to open that door to turn around an experience which became ugly and verbally loud simply for the point of a manager slapping the customer with a policy they don't understand is the easiest thing in the world to temporarily and graciously make an exception to to make it all better magically. Their managers are somehow content to let last thing that moneyed person remembers is the worst possible scenario. Why does anyone have to explain that to them? They have forgotten success and replaced it with rules and authority making bye bye is forever now. This is not my worst experience so keep that in mind if you want to subject yourself to the most extreme corporate abuse and be condescended to even if you did everything a customer should do and beyond just right. I never ever wanted to write this review.

Called the local store 25 minutes away looking for a particular perfume, they have it great! Drive there and they don't have it. Meanwhile 4 out of 5 employees visible are on their phones. And brick and mortar wonder why retail is hurting!

Be careful if you decide to order something from Dillard's. I just had the worst experience after ordering a dress. The first dress was damaged - the hem was falling out. I sent it back, and the second dress had the same problem. Unfortunately I didn't see the damage until I put the dress on right before my event. Dillard's says that I should have called them because now they can't verify that I didn't cause the damage. What on earth would they have been able to do at 4:30 p.m. on a Saturday night when the event started at 5:30 p.m. I would recommend you find another more reliable store, one that actually believes in customer service and quality.

Tip for consumers:
I really can't believe how rude the customer service staff were to me. There are so many fine retailors maybe they decided it's OK to provide low quality products and poor service.

When trying to return an item, it took so long to get customer service to send me a label when I returned my item they said it was four days too late. I tried to talk with the store. I tried to talk with the manager I tried to talk with corporate customer service That became a full-time job so I gave up. I will never shop here again and you should not either. Dillards is on its last leg thankfully, they won't be around next Christmas!

I ordered sample fragrance boxes to find the contents to be depleted. After I've given boxes to family, their recourse was to collect the boxes to return. Really?!? Bad customer service!

You may not get what you paid for! I will not purchase from them again.

I will NEVER purchase from Dillards…
I will NEVER purchase from Dillards again. I was going to a wedding and purchased 3 dresses to try on (since I am in MA) and returned one of them. I returned them within 30 days of receipt, but I received the package back stating that the 30 days starts when they ship out the package - not when I received it (which was 5 days later). I am now out over $120 and have a brand new dress I will never wear. I will NEVER shop there again and will spread the word on every social media place I can along with friends.

I bought a dress for my sons wedding in September in May. Unfortunately, I had a kidney transplant two weeks after and have had multiple complications. I am just now getting back on my feet. I lost 20 pounds from being so ill. I need to exchange it from a size 14 to size 12. It's not on sale and both of those sizes are in stock. The tags are still on it. It has never been worn. They have absolutely refused even with medical records. There is no exceptions. Where is their compassion? Customer service

This company seems to want and need people to apply for a card but they don't care and won't tell you it's a hard credit hit. Also In most departments the employees are treated very badly, even professional workers like my roommate. Don't help dillards in college station. Here's an image of a top trying to prove I'm a person. They mistreat workers like Walmart does or possibly worse.

Tip for consumers:
I wouldn't support this particular store

Products used:
A few business pieces and shoes. Shoes I saw was the worst with multiple trips because I eventually was there when the manager in shoes was also there and she was horrible to workers under her. She was condescending/uncaring. This manager has her favorites. Nearly every department is like this.. jewelry, shoes and juniors. These sound like micro managers.

I absolutely despise companies that are like this. THEY made a mistake and made ME pay for it. I emailed multiple times and never got a single response. I would not recommend it at all, plenty of other companies actually have good customer service, so go elsewhere.

Tip for consumers:
I attached a photo of the only email I ever got. Notice they failed to tell me I would be the one paying for the return, despite the return reason being damaged shoes.

After today's experience at Dillards, my opinion is that some of their employees are discriminating, intimidating and threatening towards Spanish speaking customers. My name is Dr. Mary Miller, and on 9/23 I purchased a bed quilt for my mother who was arriving from Spain on 10/6. We made her bed and found a hole in the quilt. I found it unacceptable to have a hole in a new merchandise, and I called Dillards immediately. The customer service representative stated that it would not be a problem that I did not have a physical receipt on hand. According to her, showing my bank statement would be enough. Well, my 80 year old mother and I returned to Dillards to exchange the damaged quilt. When we arrived, we first we talked to the same two clerks who sold me the quilt; but one of the explained that even after she saw my bank statement there was nothing that she could do as I didn't have a proof of purchase. I escalated the situation and spoke to the manager, The Hime Department manager's attitude from the beginning was demeaning and condescending, she profoundly refused to either exchange or return the quilt. She stated that she believed that we had washed the quilt, because they don't sell damaged merchandise. I repeated time and time again that I did not wash the merchandise, and she flat out called me a liar. She began to raise her voice, got frustrated and threatened us to call security to have us removed from the store. This woman was ready to have my disabled mother and I escorted out of Dillards because we wanted to exchange damaged/defective merchandise. Later on, at one point she mocked me by saying, "but you a doctor and can buy another quilt!". After she realised that her intimidation tactics did not work, she decided to talk to customer service and I received a gift for only $86.60 out of the $124 that I had initially paid. Some credit is better than nothing, I thought. I am appalled of such discriminating customer Service at Dillards; especially knowing that Hispanics make up 31% percent of the population.

Tip for consumers:
Shame on Dillards threatening, discriminating and intimidating customer service towards Spanish speaking customers!!!selling damaged products is unacceptable!

Corporate only wants your money and does not care about their customers.
Jerry (from corporate) talked crap about a suggestion a customer had given, even stating that she wouldn't know anything about what customers want, right after she walked away, in front of associates and other customers, including me.
This happened a few months ago, but I thought it should be posted so customers know how much they should avoid giving these corporate people any money.

Tip for consumers:
Corporate is a group of scumbags and Jerry is the worst of them. Either fire him or lose over 1000+ customers who have signed a petition I've created about never shopping at Dillard's. Have signatures and evidence to back everything.

Dillard's sustormer service is the worst! Kay unger dress size 12 from Nordstrom is a perfect fit. From Dillard's the waist will fit, the bust won't. And for the price they sell them, the least they can do is accept a return or an exchange! Unless you are walking into a Dillard's store to try something on and get a good fit, don't waste your money! A very disappointed customer!

Customer service in pineville location is so terrible the only way to get attention is to look suspicious. Last time I make a trip in this store for a purchase. Customer service associates would rather stand in front of you adjusting a rack than say hello hi can I help you nothing. The worst bunch of employees I ever been around. It's a ghost town til they think your suspicion. No morals no empathy no sales from my pocket book.

This is by far the worst company I've ever shopped from. If I could give this negative stars, I would. I wanted to order a nice, cute prom dress and it fits too small and I decide to return it. I PAY for the return label and just because it did not arrive on time at their warehouse, they send my item back to my house. I call customer service and their very rude, disrespectful and they are not understanding at ALL. They do not even offer store credit! Do not. I repeat. DO NOT shop from here. You are better off shopping from Macys.

Canadians - before you start the work of choosing items you wish to order from Dillard's, and later learning your credit card and PayPal won't work for you to proceed, know that Canadian credit cards are not accepted by Dillard's. I spent an hour shopping, then 45 minutes on two calls to Dillard's (the line was disconnected during my first call) only to learn that Canadian credit cards are not accepted.

I ordered a pair of shoes for my wedding. To my surprise, when the delivery finally came the shoes were two completely different sizes and very evident they were not new and had been worn. Calling customer service was 30+ minutes on hold just for them to tell me I have the pleasure of driving 45 minutes to my local UPS store to return these garage sale shoes. I do not recommend this retailer. Used goods sold as new, they clearly don't even check product to ensure shoe sizes match AND you will be in for a treat trying to connect with customer service giving up at least an hour of your life to get things corrected.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use this site. They will sell you used, clearly customer returned items. They don't even check to ensure shoe sizes match. Customer service is at least a 30-minute hold time just for them to tell you that you need to drive them back to a ship center to get your money back. Not a trust-worthy retailer.

I ordered a gown from Dillards and received an empty box. Called to report it. 24 hours later, they denied my claim. I have spoken to multiple customer service reps and everyone has treated me like a criminal and humiliated me. I am a 64-year-old woman and have never had to file a claim with ANY company before but understandably do not want to pay for something I have not received. They did not tape up either end of the box that the garment was supposed to have been in, the box had been crushed and the end had splayed open. I thought Dillards was a good company, but boy was I wrong. New mission in life… Tell as many people as will listen about how horrible this company is. Do yourself a favor and never order online from this company and as for me, I will never step foot inside one of their department stores again. Have been a regular customer for decades, but never again.

Worst customer service I have encountered in a while. Don't try to return anything because it is very difficult and the employees are rude. DO NOT open a credit card with them. If you don't use the card frequently they will lower your limit and hurt your credit. Just don't do it! Shop at Nordstrom... you will be much happier and will have zero hassle with any returns you need to make.

Tip for consumers:
Do not get their credit card- they lower you limit if you don't use the card and it hurts your credit.

Refund depends on how long you have the item and if the sales associate feels like helping you with a return or not.

Worst Customer Service. Needed an item very fast. Ordered it. They didn't offer any fast shipping. After two days the status was still Searching. I started to call them. First lady said she can't help me I have to wait. Second one took all my billing info and sent it to some department. Still noting. Third call tels me I have to wait. Then I'm getting a cancellation message on my phone. I'm calling them they say I have to wait my card didnt go through or they didn't know the real issue. And for everything that I'm asking they say we can't help you. I even asked for msome discount and they said no. Just lost my time. Better order from Macy's or Bloomingdale next time. I was shopping for some jeans for my husband. When I walked past the folded jeans their metal sign on the shelf was sticking out and I ripped a 3 by 21/2 inch hole in my shirt. They offered for me to bring my shirt back for their seamstress to patch my shirt. Like I would want to wear a patched Jones New York shirt. The manager that made the recommendation did not even show his face. At the price of that shirt, which I bought there, I can't believe that is how they wanted to compensate for their negligence in their display shelf. Customer service has really changed.

A friend bought me a pair of boots for Christmas from Dillards.com. We both had covid and weren't able to get together until the beginning of February. I wanted to exchange the boots but they said they had to be exchanged by 1/25/22. Normally I would understand, but with the holidays and Omicron, I would think they would be more people focused, nope. They won't return them. So shop Macy's! They always work with their customers!
