Remote Control Cars - Christmas Gifts
January 6, 2025

I purchased four World Tech Toys remote control cars as Christmas gifts, that were featured on Jills Steals and Deals on November 28,2024. After waiting, with very little tracking information and beginning to worry that the cars would not arrive in time for Christmas, the cars finally arrived. I wrapped them up and put them under the tree. Christmas day, we took the cars out of their packaging boxes, installed batteries in the remotes and none of the cars worked. One car had the front cover of the remote missing (I couldn't see this when the car was originally delivered as the remote was further back in the box). The on/off switch was pushed backwards into the remote as well. The second car would run intermittently when the remote was engaged to move forward or backward and would stop for no reason. One car did not run at all, no matter how the remote was directed to make it go and the last car didn't run with it's own remote but instead worked only from one of the other car's remotes and that car also ran intermittently, sputtering forward and backward in jerky movements. These cars cost me $155 (after the great deal that was promoted) and the four boys who received these gifts were, as you can imagine, completely disappointed. The cars were immediately repacked into their original boxes (with batteries removed from the remotes). I reached out to World Tech Toys, via email, asking for a refund and their response was that they do not issue refunds but if I took the cars back out of their packaging, re-installed the batteries and then took a video of each of the cars showing that they were not working properly, World Tech Toys would send me replacements. I am not sure why they think that I would be interested in spending so much time taking the FOUR cars back out of their boxes, reinstalling batteries into each remote, taking a video of each car in it's non-operational form and then sending the videos back to the company so that they could send me four more cars that would, most likely, not work properly OR only work for a short time. This is NOT a product (or a company) that I want to receive anything from again. I work very hard for my money (as we all do) and I have never felt so helpless as a consumer. Jills Steals and Deals should be vetting their featured products (and companies) a little better to be sure that what they are advertising on the show is the same quality as what is received by the purchaser. World Tech Toys should have enough confidence in their products that they are willing to offer to refund a customer who is not happy with their purchase (whether it works or not). In my case, four out of four non-working cars is enough for me to conclude that the products that I purchased were cheaply made and not the quality that was described on the show. I feel like I am nothing but a number in this transaction and sadly, it is the consumer who loses. It is most definitely NOT the Today Show (as they make money from these purchases) and definitely not World Tech Toys (who are laughing all the way to the bank) as their sales, most likely, went through the roof because their product was featured on the Today Show. I have never been so embarrassed as a gift giver and would NEVER EVER recommend World Tech Toys to anybody, nor would I ever recommend purchasing anything from the Jills Steals and Deals segment. Bottom line? I am out $155 and four little boys missed out on what SHOULD have been a fun Christmas day, racing their cars together. Thanks for nothing Jills Steals and Deals AND World Tech Toys. NOTE: Included photo of blue remote control has missing cover plate and broken switches.
