I bought speakers and one of them was defective right out of the box. Crutchfield took care of the problem super fast and without the normal headaches like dealing with eBay or AMAZON. Crutchfield Customer Service is the best I've ever seen. Thank you, Jim Mc.
While Crutchfield promotes self-installation as a cost-saving measure, the process falls short for complex setups and lacks the promised level of custom support. Customers should be aware of potential complications and hidden costs before proceeding. Key Concerns: Misleading Information: Crutchfield's "Custom" installation instructions are not truly specific to individual car and radio configurations. Additionally, instructions for accessory parts often lack clear guidance and require referencing separate manuals, creating confusion and frustration. Limited Support: Customer support representatives often refer customers back to existing documentation, even when the specific information is unclear or missing. Moreover, support abruptly ends at closing hours, leaving customers without assistance during critical troubleshooting steps. Return Fees: In case of product issues or dissatisfaction, Crutchfield imposes restocking fees, further adding to the financial burden of a failed installation attempt. Complex Installation Nightmare: For complex setups, the self-installation process can become a time-consuming and frustrating ordeal, negating any potential cost savings. Recommendation: For complex installations, engaging with a professional installer at another store offering free or low-cost installation services is strongly recommended. This ensures proper installation, avoids potential headaches, and guarantees accountability for any issues. Overall: While Crutchfield's self-installation option may appeal to technically inclined individuals with simple setups, the lack of truly customized instructions, limited support, and potential restocking fees make it a risky proposition for complex installations. Customers should carefully consider these factors before choosing Crutchfield for their car audio installation needs.
1st system i bought died in 1 year had to send it in JVC,, and it was 3 weeks getting repaired. I gave them a 2nd chance and order car radio and speakers for my jeep. It came missing the 4 sm screws that hold on the faceplate. I called to get them mailed to me. 2 days later lady calls and say i have to call the company that made it for the parts. WTF? They should have done that and forward them to me or open another stereo and sent those to me and sent that one back to the company that they get them from. They lost a customer.
Tip for consumers:
they don't make the products they sell,, buy direct and save the hassle

i had to go find/buy the part myself.
I personally have not done business with Crutchfield. I considered it. Until I could not find an email address online. Shady at best. It's simply not there. And they ship via USPS. Also a red flag. I refuse to do business with any online retailers who utilize the USPS. It's regrettably a bad idea doing business with any retailers who use USPS. You will likely not get your package on time. Or in working condition. Rather a box of broken parts. I'll buy elsewhere.

Love the company, love supporting such a long standing institution but you guys make it hard. I actually hate your gift card process in this day and age. I had to pay shipping on a gift card becuase of your antiquated system that does not allow for digital or ecards? Then cause my father asked last minute I had to spend 29 dollars for over night? 29 dollars for a card. Pathetic and explains why big business is winning. Address the horrid practice please!
Definitely won't be using crutch field again unfortunately even though they have a lot of useful things, the reason I say this is because of there 2 day shipping is not 2 days I ordered a battery on Wednesday around lunch time and everything was good I thought it was odd that by dinner time I still had not gotten a shipping confirmation but just assumed maybe they hadn't updated it I went to bed excited and ready for the Texas heat wave car audio show this weekend as the 2 day shipping was perfect. Then I wake up Thursday morning excited and check the shipping status and still hasn't shipped I then get a text that they need to confirm my order they needed a home phone or work phone number of the address listed…. A land line…. I can't even remember ever having a land line at any house ever in my entire life so I found that odd to be a requirement luckily I just gave them an old address instead even though neither make sense in my mind and I never have heard of anything like this but I comply and still excited assume everything is fine and I'll be able to make the show with my car audio build for the first time and this battery is the last component the shipping status now says confirmed and says Friday delivery still as I ordered it mid week but I doubt that and assume that Saturday it will come which is not ordered but still fine unfortunately now due to this weird requirement to confirm my order I will receive my order Monday and miss the entire show and wasted the money I paid to order the tickets to enter the show so now with that they have lost my business thanks for the battery but I ordered from them due to the fact of 2 day shipping which is actually 4 day shipping thanks to that step of the process which to this day I still don't understand and the cherry on top is UPS doesn't even say they've gotten it yet just label created

Ordered on Sunday evening said 3 days didn't receive it till Friday afternoon so not as advertised I did receive the correct items just not in a timely manner
I finally decided to order from Crutchfield. I have not bought a car stereo in over a decade. I was in the market so I shopped their site. None of the units I wanted are in stock, but I needed one now so I had to go elsewhere. I did buy the install harness and install kit. This is where the issue lies. Since I did not buy the stereo from them, the install kit cost $50 more. That is a bit of a ripoff as the kit wasn't really worth the price I paid let alone for $50 less. The harness was not complete, The steering wheel control adapter instructions were lacking detail, and the dash adapter was pretty cheap. All of this stuff was cheaper on Amazon, but I thought I'd actually get a better product and completed harnesses from Crutchfield. I did not. I had to cut and splice most of the wiring, and to hunt down a signal in my truck that had I not been an engineer, would probably been screwed. I probably won't be back.
Tip for consumers:
If you buy anything, make sure you get the stereo from them as well as the install kit or you will pay more than it is worth. Also, the premade harnesses are not 100% pre-made.

Speakers wouldn't fit in the kit they sent me. I called and was told to cut all tabs out of kit. I did just that. The speaker then fit inside the kit, but none of the screw holes lined up with the speaker, the kit was still to small. Speakers work great, but I think maybe they sent me the wrong kit.
Very disappointing. One of my items was obviously previously returned merchandise. Buyer beware. You're paying for new but you might get someone's returned project.
I was Very, Very Disappointed when I made my order I was told that the radio was compatible with my truck plus it state on the side of the box that it had steering wheel control. I paid this person to install the system but the steering wheel control didn't work had to pay him another fee to take the radio back out and reinstall my old one I still don't have a radio now I gotta send it back but I can't order another one cause the one they assured me would work in my truck is almost $100.00 out of my budget
The main reason I purchased from Crutchfield was because I wanted to make sure I had the correct install and wiring kits for my vehicle. Unfortunately the installation kit was poor quality, missing screws, and the instructions were lacking.
The installation kit was missing four screws, causing me to have to scrounge around for screws to hold the radio to the install kit. Also the clips and screws provided in the kit to secure it to the dash were un-useable with very poor instructions on what to do with them. Had to improvise and drill/screw my own screws to mount.
Needed to use the car the next morning so no time to call customer service and wait for correct parts to be shipped.
The Pioneer MVH-S600BS - Seems way underpowered. Like less powerful than the factory radio. I would not recommend this unit to anyone. Apparently you have to spend more to get something that produces factory level audio quality.
Disappointing experience overall.
Order the item on Wednesday and got it in two days c ahead of the Monday estimated delivery date. Best price and availability.
So far my Radio Unit is not working well. Whenever I call someone you can barely hear them and the music maxes out at Volume 40 you have to get it to Volume 38 to even listen to it. Very frustrated.
Going with crutchfield takes all the guess work out of putting a audio system together. Helpful reviews and perfect fit gear, along with customer unmatched. They do the home work and you get the rewards.
I have always gotten good service and Ana excellent know how from you. But now you are just not paying attention to what you are putting in the box. Yes i think it is awesome that my factory harness this time was free to install my speakers. But the last 2 times they didn't work with the 6x9s. I still had to go to the store and get the right female ends cut the plugs for the new ends. I'm pretty sure you have the right ones already made I'm just not getting them. On top of that the speaker mounting plates came with dress that didn't even fit the plate. They were too small in diameter and wouldn't tighten up. I love ordering from crutch field always good prices and fast shipping but the more i order the worse its getting. Some one doing a little quality check is in order.
The speaker was listed as "fits your vehicle" and also under the "ugrade" over factory speakers search. The speaker was actually much smaller than the factory speaker so it came with a plastic ring adapter. The ring adapter itself did not fit and had to be heavily modified to make it fit. In addition, the speaker once fitted to the bracket left a large air gap between it and the backer box. After all these headaches, once I finally got this upgraded speaker into position, it sounded like crap as it was a smaller 2 way speaker replacing a 6.5" midrange.
I have used Crutchfield in the past because it was worth paying a little extra to have the peace of mind that everything would fit my vehicle and all necessary adapters and cables would be included. But if they can't be trusted to get that right, why wouldn't I go to Amazon or another big retailer and pay less?
Crutchfield has a great product. My dad has used it for years. I purchased a gift card online for Christmas for him and had to jump through hoops. Crutchfield wouldn't send me the gift card until I called and verified that I purchased it. Customer service hours were limited due to the holidays and it took a day or so to get through to have them deliver it to my e-mail. While I appreciate the extra security, my credit card company handles fraud just fine. However, the part that was the most frustrating was the rude customer service representative. He kept speaking over me and was very clearly trying to rush me through the call. He cut me off every time I started to speak and was condescending in nature. Eventually, he did send the gift card. It's a good thing my father trusts the product. If it was up to me, I wouldn't be back.
Great place and always ready to help with your needs for your car audio no need to be guessing of what your looking for fits all you need to know is what you like and how big you want it and not sure there great staff is always ready to help
I received no instructions on how to install for my specific vehicle. I feel like am am on my own. Yes I can schedule an appointment to get help. That's stupid... I have a job myself and was planning to install radio on the weekend. I HOPE everything is included for this install. I am youtubing it and am forced to download and flash equipment to make it work. NO INSTRUCTIONS but good equipment. I hope I don't have to pay to have this installed as that is why I was installing it to save money. I am not impressed... just depressed after NOT getting specifics instructions for my vehicle install.
The radio was ok but could not get any AM stations to work on the radios. This was for my wifes van. It fit great and looked great but had to take it out and return it because I wife listens to AM stations most of the time. Will have to figure something else out. I had to pay to ship the radio back which make me out money for a radio that did not work correctly so will not be ordering from Crutchfield for the replacement. Dont want to have to keep paying if I need to return again. Tech support was nice and tried to help but nothing they had me try worked so they suggested I spend more money to get a signal booster which may not work so that is why I decided to just return it to cut my losses
Half the product I got that they said would fit didn't but speaker wire adapters did. Guess better luck next time.
Bought 2 Pioneer touch screens Over $1000 in stereos and harnesses, one would not power up due to harness problems. The other one had interface problems. Over 5 hours of wasted time.
Purchased the Pioneer TS-G680 speakers for a 2010 F150 Supercab. These were the OEM size, so no brackets were required for installation. However, Pioneer provided what I call a plastic spacer, which fits on the front of the speaker. No mention in installation instructions of what they were for but after comparing the OEM speakers it became apparent to me that these separate spacers were to protect the door panel from rubbing the speaker. The problem was that that these spacers did not snap or glue in place on the speaker so they kept falling off. I thought that the door panel would hold it in place so I reassembled the driver side door an moved on to the passenger door. Well now I began to second guess my self and went up to Lowes to get some clear caulk to put around the rim, carefully not getting on the speaker material, to attach the spacer. That worked good and I put the passenger door back together. After contemplating this a little I thought that I better take the drivers side panel off again (naturally harder to do since there are more electrical plugs to disconnect) to attach that spacer ring with the clear caulk so it won't fall off later on. Well this ring was not as flat as the other one so it took some time after bracing the ring, for the clear caulk to set up. What turned out what I thought to be a hour job was 6 hours of frustration. Speakers sound good, but the non-mention of what the spacers are used for and that they didn't attach to the speaker flange, results in the low rating. In fact for all I know is the spacers weren't even required. However, as stated earlier I tried to compare to the OEMs which had a spacer and foam on the flange to these new ones.
My family and I have purchased many car receivers from Crutchfield and they were all excellent experiences... until now. My son bought a Sony head unit with Apple CarPlay for his Sequoia and I was so impressed that I bought one for my F-150. I understood that installing it would not allow me to reinstall my original unit because of modifications and I was fine with that.
Unusual for Crutchfield they sent me the wrong instructions and when I finally got the correct ones they were overly vague. I modified the mounting point in my truck for the new kit as per the instructions and the fit was horrible. After more mods to my dash I slid the unit in to find that it set 3/8" too low for the factory dash to snap back in place. I tried to remove the head unit to further hack away at my dash but could find no way to do. AFlyer a call to Crutchfield tech I find out that once snapped in place that the head unit COULD NOT EVER BE REMOVED FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WITHOUT REMOVING THE ENTIRE DASH! Remove the entire dash to replace a radio? That is a massive job including air bags, gauges and heat and air ducts. Why does Crutchfield even offer an installation that doesn't allow a repair or replacement ever again? Why wasn't there a warning about this?
To say I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in Crutchfield is an understatement!
I really thought they had the best equipment and installation kits available... I was wrong!
I was very disappointed with my experience. I purchased a Pioneer head unit, which I was told the dish kit and wiring harness was included. They sent everything but the dash kit had 2 left hand pieces included and wasnt able to install the unit. The wiring harness wasnt the correct one for my vehicle and again wasnt able to install. I ended spending more money for the correct items at my local stereo shop.
The money I thought I was saving was lost due to the incompetence of Crutchfield.
Very disappointed
I ordered a scratch and dent/open box Onkyo 800 receiver. Although I saved $150 off the Crutchfield price, it was still $100 more than an open box unit from One Call. I was willing to pay the extra money for Crutchfield's customer service.
Unfortunately, the unit they sent was defective/broken. In the meantime, the regular price had been reduced a $100. I called and was made to feel as if I should consider myself lucky that they were willing to exchange it for another unit at the considerable savings of $50 over their current price - and still $100 more than One Call. I had to spend several minutes negotiating with the customer service rep to get her to agree to send another unit out and have UPS pick up the defective unit.
I just arrived home to find that a new Onkyo 800 - but UPS didn't pick up the new unit. Apparently UPS didn't know anything about a pickup. If I want UPS to come and pick it up I have to pay extra.:/
Obviously I'll be dragging the old unit to the UPS store on Saturday (some of us work longer hours than the UPS store is open). But I won't be paying extra to do business with Crutchfield. The customer service just isn't what it used to be.
