DISGRACEFUL STAFF. Predatory parking scam. AVOID AVOID AVOID
May 14, 2025

... This hotel is an absolute disgrace—rude, incompetent staff and a deliberately deceptive parking system that feels more like a scam than hospitality. If you're thinking of booking here, *don't*. You've been warned. We arrived around 5:50–6:00 pm for a conference after battling rush-hour traffic. The hotel advertised parking with payment via an internal terminal. After the event, we searched for this terminal—*it didn't exist*. No signage, no guidance. I approached the front desk only to be told to queue behind hotel guests, as there was no separate help for parking. Apparently, confusion and chaos is their standard operating model. Once I finally got to the desk, I was "greeted" by Jade—a masterclass in how *not* to do customer service. No hello, no eye contact, just loud, unprofessional chatter with colleagues while I stood there waiting to pay. When she finally decided to engage, she asked what *exact time* I'd parked. I said around 5:50–6:00. Her response? "If you get it wrong, the ANPR system will fine you £100." What kind of system is that? The hotel has cameras recording my entry, but I'm not allowed to know the time *they* recorded? I have to *guess* and risk a fine? When I said that was ridiculous, manager Jade doubled down. Her colleague standing a few feet away attending to other customers was no better—confrontational, arrogant, and completely unwilling to listen. Instead of helping, they accused *me* of being rude and escalated the situation in front of other guests. Anna even made inappropriate and discriminatory remarks in front of my colleague and guests and continued to do so throughout. It was appalling. I wasn't leaving without speaking to someone, so I asked for the Hotel Manager. Instead, I got Lauren, the so-called Duty Manager—just as dismissive, just as defensive. She offered no apology, no solution, just robotic lines about letting management know and was more interested in "supporting her staff" and claimed their system was flawless and had worked for 14 years. *Spoiler alert:* it hasn't. Just look at the other one-star reviews here and trust pilot —this isn't an isolated incident. This is a pattern. Let me be blunt: this hotel and it's partner in crime ParkingEye run a *predatory parking scam*, hiding behind a broken system and weaponising it to trap honest guests with unfair £100 fines. Their staff are rude, untrained, and hostile to complaints. There is *zero accountability* here. Lauren was shown the Terms and Conditions on her sight and couldn't comprehend the reality - the hotel does not inform those parking on their manager site that guests must accurately record on their person the exact time of entry (?). Despite giving Lauren examples of how ANPR systems work in Industry including John Lewis, NHS etc she continue to gas light pretending she knew nothing about how normal car parks are run which caused me and my colleague to gasp and burst out in shock only to be then told we were laughing and it was SO rude that she walked away refusing to talk to us any further - a nice get out of jail card - which I suspect has been used freely many times before with how comfortable they were in backing each other up. If you value your time, money, or dignity—*stay somewhere else*. This place deserves every bit of reputational damage it gets. A formal complaint has been Emailed.
