If you want to do away with your mental peace, then opt for Cloud movers and packers. I will try to shed some light on the malpractices that Cloud (as well as other movers and packers) are practicing. 90% of them are same, just branded differently. I hope this will help and bring about a change in the industry.
1. They wil give you a quote which is reasonable, and then blow it up to 2x once your goods are picked up (thats because you cant do anything now :)) Make sure you get the entire item list shared accurately and proper quotation for it in mail. They will keep trying to act casual as if you are making it a big deal and should trust them. DONT TRUST THEM. My quotation was exaggerated from 15K Rs to 29K Rs, thats all I will say.
2. My 49 inch tv and computer table arrived broken. I had insisted strongly that I need an insurance, but they promise but dont get it for you. I got it in writing, and I didnt pay any money till they provided insurance. Still they managed to fool me. They didnt include the 'Jolts' clause and now my insurance got rejected. Always make sure jolts clause is covered.
3. Get everythiing in writing from them in the beginning itself. That they wont charge anything in later stages, that delivery will be made at home and goods unpacked (they often ask you to pickup from warehouse). They will try to fool you by playing with words, but make sure professional and accurate emails are shared with you.
4. Since the rejection of my claim, my contact person from Cloud (Prakash), as well as his manager (Subha Laxmi) are not replying. Its been a week and I am still trying to push them. I have already sent them notice on email and I will be filling a consumer complaint. I will also follow it up with a mental harrassment case. (Thank god I have a lawyer in my family, never thought I will need his service).
The whole industry in movers and packers is corrupt. I was still lucky to have my good delivered, a lot of times they say that the truck driver ran away and one can only get their goods on filing an FIR.
They dont do the transport themselves and outsource it. In my case it was Delhivery company. They paid only Rs 5k to them and kept all the profits with themselves. I see a trend where this industry will get RERA like reforms and strong regulations are made for them. I will probably be fighting for that myself in coming months, lets see how it goes. It would be better to contact Delhivery like carriers directly and your goods will be transfered at a much much lower price. I wish you all the best.
Pure torture
