Warning: Cleartrip.com's Unethical Practices and Misleading Customer Service
May 5, 2023

I feel compelled to share my unfortunate experience with Cleartrip.com, which has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. It is important to warn others about the company's unethical practices and misleading customer service. My encounter with Cleartrip.com can be summarized as follows:

1. Initial Booking and Failed Payment: On April 7th, 2023, I made a booking for a flight scheduled on April 8th. However, despite the payment being deducted from my account, it was displayed as a failed transaction. This raises the question: Why was the payment displayed as failed and deducted from my account when I made the initial booking?

2. Lack of Email Support and Inaccessible Customer Service: Upon contacting Cleartrip.com via email to resolve the issue, I was informed that email support had been discontinued and that I should call an Indian phone number for assistance. This posed a significant challenge for me as an international customer. Why was I not provided with alternative means of support that cater to international customers?

3. Conflicting Information and Delayed Refund: When I reached out to Cleartrip.com after arriving in India, they initially acknowledged that the money was deducted but assured me that no ticket was issued, promising a refund. However, they later contradicted themselves, claiming that no money was charged and providing emails stating the same. This inconsistency raises the question: Why did Cleartrip.com initially acknowledge the deduction but later deny it?

4. Discrepancies in Booking Details: The booking associated with my account contained an email, mobile number, and address that are completely unknown to me. Additionally, the Mumbai address listed for the applicant is incorrect, as neither the passenger nor I reside in Mumbai. How can Cleartrip.com explain the discrepancies in the email, mobile number, and Mumbai address associated with the booking?

5. Lack of Ticket Details and Automatic Booking Claims: Despite Cleartrip.com's insistence that the tickets were booked and sent to the provided email and mobile number, I never received any ticket details on my computer. How can Cleartrip.com explain this inconsistency? Furthermore, Cleartrip.com argues that the booking process is automatic, yet the manual entry of the Mumbai address contradicts this claim.

6. False Claims and Misrepresentation: Cleartrip.com falsely claimed to the bank that we boarded the plane on April 8th, thereby asserting that a chargeback cannot be raised. However, we possess immigration stamps proving that we departed from Thailand on a later date. This raises concerns about the accuracy and integrity of Cleartrip.com's statements.

In conclusion, I strongly advise individuals considering booking tickets through Cleartrip.com to exercise extreme caution. The company's deceptive practices, lack of integrity, and conflicting information have resulted in the loss of hard-earned money for innocent customers. Cleartrip.com needs to address these issues and provide satisfactory explanations for the discrepancies and misleading information experienced throughout this entire process.

Questions to Cleartrip.com:

1. Why was the payment displayed as failed and deducted from my account when I made the initial booking? Can you provide a valid explanation for this discrepancy?

2. Given that email support was discontinued, why were international customers not provided with alternative means of support that cater to their needs? How can you ensure that all customers, regardless of their location, have access to adequate support channels?

3. Why did Cleartrip.com initially acknowledge the deduction and assure me of a refund, only to later claim that no money was charged and provide emails stating the same? Can you clarify this contradiction and provide a transparent explanation?

4. How can Cleartrip.com explain the discrepancies in the email, mobile number, and Mumbai address associated with the booking? What measures are in place to prevent such errors from occurring?

5. If the tickets were indeed booked, why did I not receive any ticket details on my computer as it should have been immediate? How can you address this inconsistency and ensure that customers receive prompt and accurate information?

6. Cleartrip.com claimed to the bank that we boarded the plane on April 8th, which contradicts the immigration stamps proving our departure on a later date. Can you provide a valid explanation for this false claim and the misleading information provided?

These questions highlight the discrepancies, misleading information, and inconsistencies experienced during the booking process with Cleartrip.com. Clear answers to these questions are crucial in restoring trust and resolving the concerns raised by affected customers.

Inaccurate information given and terrible customer service
September 29, 2021

We had booked a ticket for return from Nepal to Dubai on 24th of August through Cleartrip. Trip ID: *******2078- Royal Nepal airlines. RA 229

DISASTER!
Your service and lack of knowledge have proved to be really worth complaining about. You have insisted on a wrong confirmation for a flight that never took off from Nepal.
There was no flight at all on the 24th and you did not bother to even check or inform, just kept insisting that the flight was confirmed. We have 6 phone call confirmations and 3 email confirmations from Cleartrip, all insisting that there was in fact the scheduled flight on the 24th. The passenger went to the airport and guess what, there was no flight! We were already in doubt as the passenger had asked an agent in Nepal and was told that the flight on 24th was being rescheduled. Hence the repeated follow-ups with the Dubai Cleartrip office were being done. Every time we followed up, your agents in Dubai insisted all was on course and sent us another confirmation email.
When finally the passenger was told on the 24th at the airport that no flight was taking off on that day, your agents here in Dubai were still SO IGNORANT, UNBOTHERED AND IRRESPONSIBLE that the answer we got was " No sir, you are mistaken. The said flight HAS IN FACT LANDED IN DUBAI!" One can be uninterested as clearly your 'CLEARTRIP' team is, but to lie! To lie about a fact is beyond comprehensible.

No one has bothered to email us back with our complaint issue. No phone calls, nothing. You can take passengers for granted, but it will come to haunt you. There is enough competition in the market to kill your complacency and irresponsibility.
The passenger was neither supported in booking an alternate flight nor was there any concern for the additional PCRs and travel to the airport undertaken by her for a flight that was never to take off from on the scheduled date.

Is it really possible that you have no clue when flights are going in and out? It 'CLEAR'ly is.
Is it possible to have no regard for a customer complaint and not bother to even answer an email? It 'CLEAR'ly is.
I hope this comes back to bite your business. Once you take customers for granted, that is it- there is no future for your business.

Cleartrip ID *******8544, PASSENGER NAME AS PER PASSPORT EVEN THAN, FORCE TO CANCEL TICKET.
May 20, 2018

VERY sorry to write, because we have not received any satisfactory answer from Cleartrip Mumbai office from last 15 days, so today I came to your Cleartrip office from Vadodara i. E. 400 Km travelling

While booking, Travelers Information page on Cleartrip site indicate that
IMPORTANT: Make sure the names you enter match the way they appear on your passport
So, We have booked above tickets as per the way they appear on passport.
As under for 4 person
Mr. Mehta Pawanraj Sohanraj
Mr. Shah Priteshkumar Hasmukhlal
Mr. Gadhia Chhaganlal Gokalbhai
Mr. PATEL KULINCHANDRA RAMANLAL

There is NOT a SINGLE MISTAKE in Name of ANY Passenger, it is as appear on the passport

But now your Cleartrip repling that surname require last as under

Mr. Pawanraj Sohanraj Mehta
Mr. Priteshkumar Haskukhlal Shah
Mr Chhaganlal Gokalbhai Gadhia
Mr Kulinchandra Ramanlal Patel

So, you have to cancel your ticket and re-book.

Now Most Important is: on your online portal fields are First Name and Last Name

On Passport fields are Surname and Given Name,
There are no such fields like First Name and Last Name on passport
So, It's confusing on part of cleartrip, so its your mistake.

So, kindly needful to correct tickets as per airline.

Currently this matter is taking care by Mr. Conrad (Cleartrip Mumbai Office)

Horrendous Customer Care
March 16, 2018

I would like to bring notice to absolutely horrendous customer service provided by cleartrip.

As a regular customer who had made plenty of bookings in the past, I was used to with automated ticket bookings. However in one of my bookings, a minor spelling mistake was made.

I detected the spelling mistake around ~25 hours before the flight departure, so immediately called the customer care.

1. The first agent lied that it's within 24 hours and no change can be made and to contact Malaysian Airlines.
2. Contacting Malaysian Airlines, they said the said change can be easily done by your agent (Cleartrip) in this case at any time.
3. Contacted cleartrip again, he accepted that there are more than 24 hours but no change can be made and to reach the airport directly where they may deny boarding us. Notice they'll rather have their customer embarrassed in the airport than helping them out.
4. I contacted Malaysian Airlines again and reached a very helpful executive. He directed us to add agent (Cleartrip) over a conference call. Over the conference all, we added Cleartrip and again we only got the unhelpful response that change of name is not possible.
5. Malaysian Airlines executive however pointed out that this is a minor change and it can be easily changed with a penalty (which I as willing to pay). He also confirmed that promptly with the sales team of Malaysian Airlines.
6. However the cleartrip executive was adamant that name change is not possible. At this point the cleartrip agent pointed out that ticket has been booked since over a month, and was directly blaming me (the customer). He said there is an internal circular which outlines this process. However Malaysian Airlines clearly mentions a process of changing the customer name. Link: https://mhcare.malaysiaairlines.com/faq/s/article/My-name-is-incorrect-on-my-booking-Do-I-need-to-pay-to-change-it?language=en_US
7. The cleartrip executive was again mentioning that this is not possible. Probably "not possible" is their default response. He mentioned that for this to execute they need to contact backend team who'll contact Malaysian Airlines, and he cannot escalate the issue as it being Sunday the "team" is not in office.
8. The cleartrip executive told me to share the passport copy which I did and told me further support will be only be available via e-mail. While I asked the agent to expediate the issue, he said there is no such process and he is simply a "CS agent" and is there for answering questions. I insist on him to resolve the issue.
9. The cleartrip executive then silently disconnects the call.
10. I requested the Malaysian Airlines executive if he can resolve the issue on his end. He was able to resolve the issue without much ado.

The only thing I can say is, Cleartrip is a customer hostile company which has:
1. No clear cut process to solve the customer issues. The only thing their agent can say is "Not possible."
2. Rude and misleading. All three agents were unhelpful.
3. They are not aware of the process of their airline partners. Clearly in my case, there was a simple process but cleartrip was unwilling and were actively blocking fixing my issue.
4. Note that Malaysian Airlines went out of their way to resolve our issue. Cleartrip's incompetent customer care only words were of some vague circular and lies about processes.
5. There are no escalation processes within cleartrip.

Clearly Cleartrip is a there to rip off their customers. They charge "convenience" fee at whim however they are completely clueless to support their customers in case of trivial issues. I would 0 star to cleartrip's service if I could and would uninstall the app as soon as it is possible.
