Awesome service and such nice animal loving people! Thank you for a wonderful experience to get my fur baby Simba home
Wall-e was so relaxed and happy when he arrived. TJ kept is in the loop on her progress and sent pictures. Wall-e was so comfortable that when YJ got ready to leave he was going to get back in her car to go with her. Very happy!
Great services. I was able to have my dog transported from GI to CA safely and at a great price. I recommend using.
A friend told me about Citizen Shipper when I was in the process of finding a puppy. When I found one a few states away, I knew it would save so much time to hire someone to transport the puppy for me. I am so glad I did because the experience was seamless and stress free.
Very happy with Amanda and Hazee Transport. I booked them through Citizen shipper. They were very very affordable and professional. Had my fur baby in two days. They kept me updated the entire trip. Will use again in the future.
CitizenShipper helped connect me with potential pet transporters when I wasn't able to transport my dog myself. It was easy to use, and I received several quotes. I was able to review the driver's information and decide which I wanted to use. The cost of using CitizenShipper was expensive, but it saved me some time.
I used this individual to transport a kitten before christmas and had 2 kittens he agreed to deliver he sent them invoices took their money and never showed up to get the kittens so now my customers are out of thier money and we have to find a new transporter to ship them I would never use this company again or this individual.
I had signed up a few months ago to look for a shipping/delivery "independent" job and located this business. I didn't take any of the jobs because they were long distance for services that I were looking more for local deliveries. I realized today that $29.99 was processing through my bank, I immediately found a blog (which no phone number is listed for Citizenshipper email address is their way of communication), which gave details about canceling the account. I am requesting for the $29.99 refund, so this review is for those that try out this business and don't continue with any business from them, to cancel the account or you will be charged $29.99 after their 3 month trial. I am waiting to hear back from their email department response, which replies automatically with a ticket number or response # to your email to the support help, and will be waiting for my refund.
Hi Jennifer,
I can certainly understand your frustration with the situation. According to our Terms and Conditions we do indeed offer a free 3-month trial so you can see if our marketplace works for you. Yes, the monthly subscription fee is automatically taken from the credit card you provide but if you cancel before the end of your 4th month, you can be refunded. If you neglect to cancel your account by the end of the 4th month, that initial month’s subscription fee is forfeit. I hope your refund was able to be processed, as I don’t have your details, but I’d like to announce that we are rolling out a cardless process whereby you can sign up as a driver without inputting a credit card until you decide whether, at the end of the free trial, the marketplace is for you or not. This new process will help drivers evaluate the platform with zero risk. Thank you for helping us to improve our service.
I needed a safe and reliable solution to ship a new puppy from Florida to Michigan during the month of February. I posted the job on CitizenShipper.com and received multiple quotes for the job. After evaluating and selecting a drive that I felt was going to provide the safest environment and transit of my new pup I booked the job. I paid the $40 fee to CitizenShipper.com and when I was finalizing the details and I put the driver in contact with the breeder. After the driver talked to the breeder about the pickup she (the driver) backed out of the deal because I listed the puppy at 22 lbs and it turns out he weights 32 lbs. I apologized to the driver as it was an honest mistake and even offered to pay her more money but she refused and back out of the deal saying that she'd have to make too many stops along the way to let the puppy out to pee and stretch his legs. This apparently was not a problem when I thought he weight 22 lbs. Out of frustration I made arrangements to make the drive myself and asked for the fee to be refunded. CitizenShipper.com refuses to refund my money because it was my mistake for listing the puppy at the wrong weight.
I really just guessed at his weight and I didn't think I needed to have an exact weight. The service representative send me a link to an FAQ section of the website that deals with refunds (after the fact.) Why was that not stated at the time of booking?
Reputable breeders stay away from websites like this because of shady dealings, puppies that never get delivered and/or horror stories of vans with stacks of animals cubed out inside cargo areas. After sorting through all of the questionable drivers and finding someone I thought was trust worthy she turned out to be sketchy and finicky. I don't care about the $40 and I'm feeling much better about making the trip myself and insuring a safe passage for my new puppy.
I just want others to be aware. If things don't workout for you, CitizenShipper is keeping their fee regardless.
Hi Joseph,
I’m sorry for the frustration this situation caused. We do have a number of reputable breeders who use our marketplace to find good drivers, and they have wonderful experiences. But unfortunately sometimes the details matter. I can’t tell you why the driver refused a dog of 10 pounds weight-difference. Sometimes drivers only have room for an allotted amount of dogs or cats, and I hope that the driver was taking safety into consideration when she cancelled. Nonetheless, it’s frustrating. While CitizenShipper cannot refund fees in that situation, we DO offer credit so you could choose a different driver to make the trip, especially if you recovered more information than you initially had for the listing. I don’t have the details so I don’t know if you relisted, but I hope things worked out for the best.
I was scammed for $350 after booking through citizenshipper. They do not vet the shippers well enough. They refuse to reimburse.
Hi Derek, I understand this situation can be frustrating. As we note in our support emails, once you pay the driver, the contract is between you and the driver. CitizenShipper does not get any part of that payment, and therefore cannot reimburse you money we never had. The payment method you choose is the difference between getting your money back and losing it, and we offer resources to advise you on the right ways to pay the driver. We do vet drivers inasmuch as the law allows, given that they are not employees of the company. We do our best to ensure safety and reliability and are always looking to improve the process. We are now requiring drivers to verify their identification rather than just their backgrounds for an extra layer of security, although the drivers are still not employed by CitizenShipper. I hope this offers some clarity into the process for you and others.
These companies should just be honest saying they cannot control what their service providers do and you are gambling with your pet's safety. This option does not sit well with me if you have grown together with your pets loving them throughout many years. These types of companies have already failed over & over again many times throughout the years.
CitizenShipper is definitely not trying to hide the fact that you, as a customer, are contracting with the delivery person, and not with CitizenShipper. We provide a marketplace where you can find a driver who meets your budget and time frame requirements. Much like Craigslist, where sellers post what they want to sell and buyers make arrangements to pay for it, Craigslist never touches the money that changes hands. We know that when it comes to pets (I am personally invested in no less than SIX rescue animals) extra caution and care is required, which is why we list badges for USDA and Red Cross Pet Aid certifications, if drivers choose to enroll in those programs. Furthermore, with the addition of two new programs, Pet Insurance and FirstVet, CitizenShipper is pulling out all the stops to increase the safety of pet transportation. While your statement that a GPS won’t help if someone falls asleep or is on medication, it does help to pinpoint where an accident happened. It does provide peace of mind that your pet is on its way to its destination, and it is a useful tool. While we can’t predict much this life, we can guarantee that we take pet safety very seriously and in cases of animal neglect, we will ban a driver for life if the investigation proves neglect or abuse. The fact is, shipping pets long distances involves all sorts of risks, even when it’s the pet owner doing the transportation. There is no deception with CitizenShipper and there is no lack of effort to ensure safety and compliance.
If you are on the East Coast & need a trustworthy professional to transport your pet, Barbara's your woman! From when she booked the job until she dropped off my puppy, she was constantly in communication, giving me details about the trip, as well as reassuring me all was going well. I would trust Barbara with my life, and am 100% going to use her again in the future! What a wonderful experience. Thank you so so much.
Beware of scammers on this site. Do not pay for the shipping prior ot pickup. I have shipped a couple of times with good luck, but last time a shipper got my money. I thought that they screened their shippers, but NO...
Hi Karen, thank you for helping build awareness of some basic good techniques when dealing with the internet. Our recommendation for paying drivers for shipments if their contract requires a deposit or even the full cost of shipping upfront is to pay with a disputable method such as a credit card, when possible, and if not, then Paypal or Venmo but never with a money order or by wiring cash. If the driver states this as their requirement, please don’t book that driver. Cash on delivery is perfectly fine. We do screen our drivers, but no background checks are 100% proof-positive that a scam artist won’t be able to fool. We do the legally allowable verification and are always trying to find ways to eliminate the bad elements. Thank you for providing this feedback and please feel free to check out the articles on our website and blogs to find out what is involved in the screening process for yourself.
Wouldn't refund my money. Driver said it was his fault. They disagreed and lied to me. Beware of them. Their ethics are poor.
Hello Todd, I see from following your conversation with our customer support team that the driver came to pick up the vehicle but the dimensions listed on your ad were not complete and therefore, the vehicle couldn’t be shipped. Considering that this was no fault of the driver, and our refund policy clearly states that a refund will be offered instead of a credit only if the driver is at fault. I understand how frustrating it can be, however, our commitments were honored, the investigation was completed, and we did our best to help you out within the parameters of our terms and conditions.
How can I score this team with 10 stars? In transporting my bulldog puppy to her new home, Carl provided true concierge service. He kept lines of communication open with frequent updates on his location and itinerary, frequent pictures of the puppy along with a briefing on how she was doing, how she ate and her pee and poo habits. The pup was definitely not traumatized by the trip. She was given the love and attention all pets need. Not only will i use him again, i recommend him to anyone who wants their pet transported professionally and lovingly.
BTW, he is the first transporter I've ever used who asked for the health certificate. Everyone else, I've had to remind that there was one.
Many KUDOS for you, Carl!
I connected with a shipper, even sent them 200 up front and attempted to cancel my order on the site as they'd like roughly 20% of the cost of shipping just for connecting me with a shipper. I talked with the shipper and decided to move a few more animals with my shipment for some extra money. After talking with customer support they've determined they aren't going to cancel the shipment on their site even if they get to keep the $130 for connecting me to a shipper. So now I'll be paying 900 instead of the original 700 because "it appears the shipment is still on". Thanks customer support for seeing half the situation and only doing what benifits the company while screwing over customers.
Hello Jeff,
I believe there has been some miscommunication in this situation. You can connect with a driver for free by posting a listing on our marketplace and receiving bids. As is stated before you actually book and pay the CitizenShipper fee, you only pay once you’ve contracted with a driver. There are specific, legal rules regarding the contract once you click on the button, just like with anything else that you buy that has terms and conditions. The fee is to offset the costs of web hosting, engineers to create and maintain the site, a customer support team to field questions and solve issues, and marketing, branding, and promotions, among other things. If you talked with the shipper and did NOT cancel the shipment but instead just added to it, you have, ipso facto, not cancelled a shipment and are not due any refund. There are very clear terms for when a customer is entitled to a refund, and unfortunately deciding it’s too expensive is not one of them. You’ve already used the service, even if you decided not to go with a shipper, which it appears that you have. You may email jesika@citizenshipper.com should you require clarification or if I am misunderstanding the situation as it's been explained.
Pet transporter required a deposit. Took my money and never went or received the puppy. No way to recoup my money or call support to find out where she is. GPS tracking guaranteed. Didn't happen! Blocked now from her.
Hello Stephanie,
I am sorry you had a bad experience with a driver from our site. We do our best to validate their credentials and their backgrounds. Some of the transporters require a deposit and we recommend that customers pay the driver via refundable or disputable methods like Paypal or Venmo, rather than untraceable methods. Should a driver perform the activity you described, we can assist by giving police the information that we have on their identity. If you file a police report because your payment method won’t allow you to chargeback your payment, you can submit that to our customer support team who will supply you with the information you need.
In this case, CitizenShipper, if you message our support team, we would refund your booking fee and advise you on how to work with authorities to get your deposit back. If you have not done so, please contact us at support@citizenshipper.com and our team will be happy to help.
After you cancel you account they will keep charging your account. The fake their review. In your research be sure to check the better business bureau the have over 28 complaints for theft.
Dear James, thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m so sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience, and I appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention.
We always strive to facilitate a positive and memorable transport, and unfortunately we fell short this time. We care deeply about our customers and their beloved pets. We believe our marketplace provides exceptional value through our stringent background checks, driver-matching services, access to 24/7 televet care and the $1,000 pet protection coverage that we offer for every transport.
Again, I apologize that your experience with CitizenShipper didn’t meet your expectations. We take all feedback very seriously, and we’re committed to constantly improving our support and services for our customers.
Please email support@citizenshipper.com if I can be of further assistance.
I stumbled upon this site on google and decided to try it. I was looking for pet transportation the next day. Within minutes I had over 12 bids. I quickly exchanged messages back and forth with the shipper I found to be the most accommodating for our needs. Megan from GoCritters was exceptional! She organized the transport of our puppy that evening and was able to deliver our puppy from Pennsylvania to Massachusetts the next day! It was quick and very affordable! I highly recommend this service to anyone who needs pet transporting!
Answer: Teresa, thank you for your question! As a shipping customer, besides the payment for the quote provided by the driver using our website, you are due a small booking fee which depends and fluctuates based on the bid. To learn more about how fees work, please visit out help center article -https://citizenshipper.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202363429-How-much-does-it-cost-to-use-CitizenShipper-
Answer: The driver directly you just pay the booking fee to the site when you accept the bid.
Answer: You should be able to google them and find reviews, meanwhile when you click on their business information it tells you if they are certified and verified that is all you really need and then there are reviews posted their along with their star rating and how many transports they have completed.
Answer: Hi Derri, if that company is listed on our site and has done deliveries, they may have reviews from previous customers.
Answer: Hi Elizabeth, we sure can transport birds. Just go to www.citizenshipper.com and list your posting with the location, the type of bird, and the dates you need to transport. You will then receive bids from drivers and can communicate with any of them until you find the one you want.
Answer: My booking fee was US$79 and did not get my US$25 rebate as promised in an email from CitizenShippers. Booking fee far to high

I see from our support transcripts that your customers are the ones who booked the transportation with CitizenShipper and we are unable to discuss issues with someone who is not in our platform. It doesn’t look like anyone followed through with our support team on this, but I am sorry that it happened. I hope things turned out for the best with the rest of your litter.
