They are shady, I had a sales rep hound me for a while trying to get me to switch to them. I kept blowing him off because I didn't have time to compare services with what I was using. He told me there wouldn't be any obligation and I could cancel anytime, I said I'd look and think about it. Then I found out they were coming around hounding an employee, she kept asking me if they could do it. I finally agreed only because I remembered the rep told me there wasn't an obligation. So she set up the service with a whole myriad of stuff we didn't need and it ended up more than I was paying with my current service (part of his pitch was that he could SAVE me money). I figured I'd try to see if we could make something that worked, they did after a couple months take a bunch of stuff off that I didn't need. It still wasn't great though, it was still way to many towels and what not. I guess they realized it as well and one day they came and said they were going to switch us to every other week. I thought great, they are doing us a favor and that would split the cost in half doing it every other week. This goes on for a bit, then later on as I'm going over paper work I noticed they doubled the cost of everything! The slimebags were NOT doing me a favor they where doing themselves a favor, they just raised the price of everything and made it so they had to do less work while screwing me over. I immediately called them trying to figure out what happened, they said we agreed to it when the employees told cintas "cool" about the dropped services and point to the contract. This is the first time I actually saw the contract (remember I was told I could cancel any time so I hadn't taken a look at it yet, I figured no matter how bad it got I could cancel), it was then that I realized it was actually a 5 year contract! Not what the rep had told me, secondly it states that they can change the terms whenever and however they see fit and that I have 10 days to refuse the changes! So now I'm furious, here they presented it like they were doing me a favor, but instead they were only screwing me harder while making things better for them. I was livid,
But eventually after realizing they had me by the balls I wanted to see if I could renegotiate something (which they had told me we could talk and discuss it again to see if we could come to a mutual benefital agreement) they stopped returning my calls and I started getting harassed by their attorney (they wanted to come take pictures of all my assets, I said kick rocks), who said they were not going to work with me and canceled the contract and said I would have to pay off the contract because they didn't want to work with me. The attorney wanted $7000 something! I had to negotiate it down and made payments on it. They are an extremely slimy company with reps that have no problem hounding you and lying to you to till you sign the agreement. Go with ANYONE else, who the hell wants to get into a 5 year contract for friggen TOWELS?
Don't do it to yourself, you don't need the headache!
Our company uses Cintas at 7 locations in our company. We had first signed up with Cintas because the sales person was quite convincing. We were told that such items such as soap dispensing mechanisms would be installed for free and told us that the services they provided could be stopped at anytime. In ONE of our locations we decided that we did not need the services that Cintas provided (mops, towels, cleaning solutions.etc). Little did we know that in a couple months we would be facing their legal team asking for " damages" for $8,000. Their reasoning is that we owe them for the money we WOULD have paid during the life of the contract.
Please be careful. There is a sentence in their contract that says "* This agreement is effective as of the date of execution for a term of 60 months from the date of execution for a term of 60 months from the date of installation"
Copied underneath is an email sent to us from the lawyers working for Cintas.
"I am unaware of any verbal agreement you allegedly had with a sales representative. Customers are typically given the option of changing the quantity of items serviced however, that does not allow them to break the agreement by not paying for service that was provided or cancelling service completely.
Xxxxxx Bakery is behind on payments and owes Cintas $960.70 for services provided. Your outstanding payment has triggered the early termination of the agreement and Cintas is seeking damages for that as well in the amount of $7,532.17 (excl HST) as per clause 7 and 10 of the attached contract.
I encourage you to give me a call using the number below to discuss how we can resolve this matter without further escalation.
Kind Regards,
