They acquire religious forums, particularly Christian ones, to exploit the revenue gleaned from advertising space on the site. And, in selling contact information of registered members. And those who donate to the site.
If you donate, your bank sends your personal contact info too. Then, they have your real name and address and even phone number to sell to junk mailers, and cold all companies.
You don't want these people to have that info. Especially when your donation is linked to the member name on one of the forums they own.
