Refused to assist with a package that was lost
October 5, 2021

I placed an order for school clothes for my son that consisted of 21 items total with a total of around $240. The first order with 5 items in it shipped via UPS and I had the items in a few days with no issues. The second box was 16 items totaling to $185 and it was shipped via Lasership. When I checked the tracking for the items since it had almost been two weeks, I see the details say it was delivered at my front door about 4 days prior. I immediately checked my doorbell camera for this date and time and watched the footage. No one came to my house to deliver anything. I watched all of the footage for that day as well as two days after and no packages were ever delivered.

I checked the tracking details and it shows my package was delayed to weather at 7:52pm. The next details read as follows: "9:16pm loaded onto vehicle; 9:18pm out for delivery; 9:19pm Delivered at front door". This is physically impossible as I do not live across the street from a Lasership facility, and I live pretty deep inside my neighborhood.

The next day I called The Children's place and after sitting on hold for 10 minutes, they told me that it says delivered and I need to call Lasership. I called Lasership, and after sitting on hold on an annoying recorded loop about tracking items online instead of on the phone for 58 minutes someone finally answered with a terrible attitude. I explained to her what happened and she said the package is marked as lost and I should let the seller know. Then she stated they would tell the seller. I asked why the package was marked delivered if it wasn't? And I also asked why because this makes it harder for me to get my money back.

I called Children's Place back and sent the email I received from Lasership and they still could not help me. The email was BS and was as vague as ever. Lasership is a crappy delivery company for those who are not familiar. They are a parcel delivery company that I honestly feel is trash. They do not seem reputable. This is not my opinion from this interaction but because I am a concierge manager at a DC high-rise and I deal with them often. It somewhat seems like they hire anyone to deliver items and do not hold them accountable for them when they fail to do the job they signed up for.

I ended up asking for the manager of the person I was speaking with. The manager gets on the phone and proceeds to tell me I received my package even after I offered up the doorbell footage from my camera as proof that I did not receive it. I expressed I would prefer to have the items instead of a refund and she told me that she could give me a $50 coupon. I politely asked her why she thinks I would want a $50 coupon when I spent $185 on items, and I asked her to make that make sense. She asked me if I was done and I told her that I would be done when I have my items or my refund. She told me that no one here would be giving me a refund so I told her some choice words and that I would just dispute the charge on my Children's Place credit card.

Tip for consumers:

BE CAREFUL! The call center is out of the country and they are not helpful. They refuse to assist when they use unreputable delivery carriers and they steal or lose your items. Then they just want to give you a $50 coupon for almost $200 worth of items.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!

I am FURIOUS! I placed my order of my daughters school clothes on August 3rd (worth 200$) and I only clicked free shipping instead of store pickup because it said the earliest I could pick up from the store was August 14th. Well she started school on the 12th. So the free shipping showed it to arrive between August 8th and the 13th. I figured it would definitely arrive by the 13th so if I have to buy her an extra outfit for the first day, so be it. Well it's now the 13th and my order has not even been shipped to be delivered! I have called constantly all day yesterday all day today, every 15 minutes I've dialed their customer service number. It automatically hangs up on you because the volume of calls is high. Same thing with the email. I emailed them and got an automated reply that they were experiencing a high volume of emails at the moment. Oh and they charged my account when I placed my order on the 3rd, AND I was charged the exact same amount from them yesterday at 3 am. so I'm being charged double for items I'm not even getting because my daughter has no school clothes and she is in the first grade. She is nervous enough about making friends. Now she has to be the one who doesn't have new clothes like the rest! All because they have some kind of overwhelming issue they can't seem to handle. I'm about to go to my local store because I literally have tried everything to get in touch with SOMEONE from this company and it's like they just took $350 dollars from me and ran and are getting away with it. As a single mother of 2, I do not have the extra money to cover THEIR mistakes! DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ONLINE FROM THE CHILDRENS PLACE! It's not just happening to me..

Poor return policies and completely unresponsive low-quality customer service

I recently placed two separate online orders for several items of clothing for a boy and a girl that I babysit. I was unsure of their size but the girls clothes in size 5 were too small. The boy's items fit fine and I will keep those.

I wrote to their customer service and asked if they would refund my purchase price on some of the girl's items that the price tag was removed from. I knew I had to pay postage to return the items but after reading the fine print in their return policies, I saw that if the price tags are not still attached to the garment, they will not issue a refund.

Here is part of their IFS ANDS and BUTS of their Return Policy.

The Children's Place Return and Exchange Policy

We will gladly accept unwashed, unworn merchandise, with original sales receipt, with original sales tag attached, and within 45 days.
All returns are subject to verification of original sale. We reserve the right to limit returns regardless of receipt.
Merchandise may only be returned or exchanged in the country in which it was originally purchased.

I wrote an email to their Customer Service Department on March 31 00 Case Number is *******. I should have heard back from them by email by yesterday, April 5,2016. I did not hear back from them so I wrote another email ( Case Number is *******) to them telling them that I was going to write a negative review of their company on SiteJabber.com since their customer service was so poor, almost nonexistent.

I would say if you want to buy children's clothes online you better be very careful that you know the correct size. Macy's has a good free returns police and so does Nordstrums. Walmart is good too.

The Childrens Place has retail stores all over the country and there are three in the far subburbs of my town but I am unable to travel to the store to make returns of items, and there are some items that can only be returned by mail by me.

I read an article recently that The Childrens Place is one of those companies that is about to go out of business because its sales are way down. They seem last-ditch desperate to move the goods out of their warehouse and will write anything in their email advertisements to get rid of their merchandise before they close their business for good.

Do not even sign up for their email advertisements because they send you about three a day with exagerated sales and discount claims that are meaningless considering their lousy return policies and customer service.

I did not lose a lot of money and I will just donate the five or so items of size 5 girls clothing to a thrift store. At this point, it would not be worth the effort of going to a printer and printing out or photocopying all the paper work on the transactions, then packing the items nicely, and then going to the post office and standing in line to mail the package and paying probably more than half the cost of the clothing for the postage.

I have learned my lesson the hard way about this terrible company --
