A painting I purchased from am artist in France was damaged in transit and the artist promised to replace it. 6 months on and I'm still waiting. Catawiki don't want to know and have said it's up to ke to contact the artist directly...which I have done several times to no avail. I've deleted my Catawiki account and will now buy from reputable artists via reputable galleries

A painting I purchased from am artist in France was damaged in transit and the artist promised to replace it. 6 months on and I'm still waiting. Catawiki don't want to know and have said it's up to ke to contact the artist directly...which I have done several times to no avail.
I've deleted my Catawiki account and will now buy from reputable artists via reputable galleries

Catawiki puts you in touch with interesting purchases at cheap prices - which is good - unfortunately the company Catawiki is without support when you need this, so it is therefore very risky to shop through Catawiki

If I could give zero stars I would. This company is very corrupt and allows counterfeits to be sold. Beware! Stay away. I bought a Balenciaga wallet that is not genuine. It is an obvious fake. I contacted Catawiki and they say they are investigating and that is a bunch of lies. I have posted pix showing the bad stitching. Balenciaga never stamps "genuine leather" on any of their pieces. Came in a box marked Made in PRC. People's Republic of China. I took a photo of a genuine Balenciaga wallet I own (left) next to the fake one (right) and if you look closely at the grain, you can tell it is fake. This is not leather, more like pleather. I will never do business with this company again.

I encountered blatant indifference and dishonesty from Catawiki. As a loyal customer who frequently participates in their auctions, I acquired two items: an inkwell and a set of scales.

The inkwell faced delays in shipping, and upon inquiry, the owner claimed illness but assured me of a timely delivery. However, Catawiki transferred the funds to the seller without confirming delivery on my account, and attempts to contact the seller were futile as the chat had been closed.

The second item, the scales, also led to unpleasant experiences. The seller insisted the item was lost in the mail, shifting the responsibility onto me. Discovering a resale of the same item, I contacted Catawiki but received no response. After attempting to delay the sale through an auction win, my account was subsequently blocked.

The catastrophic lack of responses from Catawiki and their disregard for addressing the issue raise doubts about their honesty and the safety of buyers. Such situations negatively impact trust in the company.

Pros - Diverse product selection, easy to use interface, fairly consistent and functional phone app on android.
Cons - slow to respond to buyer inquiries about product, lacks the ability to ask seller questions prior to sale, no authenticity guarantees or certificate, repeated errors and overcharges on multi sale freight shipoing costs while generally unresponsive to customer support emails at least 50% of the time, other responses took 2 days minimum. General failure ton prioritizie buyer protection and buyer process support. They will 'accidentally' charge you excess fees by not consolidating shipping. This is done by dispersing a single sellers identical product across several auction curators and then trying to charge shipping fees for each curators "individual auction" on the same day from the same auction event at the same time. When you catch it they are either unresponsive or delayed and you have to find ways to back door communicate with the seller because they restrict seller message access until after you pay the excess fees at which time it is impossible for the willing seller to refund.
Cancelations of sale - had this happen multiple times where an item didn't go as high as seller probably wanted. So after the sale, seller claimed product quality issue only to see it show up again on the same auction or on Ebay. Refund then took 2 weeks. I actually bid on the same product on Ebay that I had bought already on catawiki while the seller was 'cancelling" my sale due to lack of product availability? Catawiki never responded to that information. Separately a seller sold product but then didn't have it for fulfillment. Seller supposed to ship in 3 days took 3 weeks and over 21 days with 5 help requests sent, catawiki never answered or followed up. They won't step in and help or protect a buyer. Over 80 transaction on platform and now suspending use until they resolve service, payment and communications issues. Oh and one last thing when a seller contacted me saying he hadn't been paid by Catawiki and threatened me, they never responded to repeated requests for help. Had to secure my own legal support and file my own complaint with law enforcement. When offered that information, Catawiki never responded.
Great website terrible serivce.

Tip for consumers:
If you don't know the seller be careful. They have next to no way to screen sellers and are unresponsive to help requests. It's a platform but you are on your own. There is no help desk or chat outside their timezone and personal experience the chat will just ignore you when faced with a question they don't like or don't want to address like safety, platform violations, excessive fees.

Shipment of a ring worth 1,200 euros never received and I did not called back for 4 months. At the same time, I receive an email that the case is closed because of the elapsed time. No one is available at this company. Customer "service" employees all work from home and cannot forward calls. Disaster

This title "Buyer Protection" is only for making money.
Catawiki only protect company that they work it.
For customer nothing, not even a answer to emails.

The worse place to buy. 0,00% knowlege about international taxes. After paying, nobody gives you a solution. Terrible. An also, items that never arrive, customs troubles... terrible

STYR UNNA!

Det finnes utallige svindlere og uærlige selgere på denne auksjonssiden, så jeg advarer bare med å si:
VÆR OBS!
Jeg har blitt lurt svært mange ganger over flere år nå, men nå er det slutt etter å ha brukt en formue på å handle på Catawiki.
Heldigvis så finnes det mange andre mer seriøse og ærlige nettauksjoner der ute, og ikke minst hvor en får hjelp fra kundeservice om det oppstår problemer.

Jeg vil fraråde dere også fra å handle med bl.a.en polsk selger som heter Monika Skorupska og en annen som heter Lara g eller m.
Jeg kjøpte en diamant og smaragdring fra sistnevnte, men den viste seg å være falsk.
Etter å ha fått sjekket ringen ut hos 2 gullsmeder, så kunne disse konstatere at snaragden var agat, og at diamantene ikke var ekte.
Det var kun skinnende stener som var limt på selve ringen, og det var ingen klør engang som holdt stenene på plass;(
Catawiki påstod at ringen var ekte, da deres verifiseringsteam påsto dette utfra kun bildet.
Jeg hadde en laaang kamp med kundeservice ang.dette, men som kjent er det svært lite hjelp å få fra disse, og jeg følte omtrent at det var jeg som var svindleren og ikke selgeren!

Hos førstnevnte selger kjøpte jeg en DG kjole i april 2022.
Nå er det snart april 2023, og hverken kjole eller tilbakebetaling av mine egne penger har komt på konto.
Jeg har aldri opplevd en slik løgner og svindler, og Catawiki betalte ut mine penger til selger til tross for at hun ikke sendte varen.
Dokumentasjon på dette kan en enda se på profilen min da kjolen enda står under sending, og support burde ha fanget opp dette før de betalte henne ut.
T.o.m.dem polske post som jeg sendte mail til kunne bekrefte at sending/sporing ssnummeret ikke eksisterte.

Jeg har sendt kundesupport hos Catawiki ca.100 mailer det siste året (m/bilder og dokumentasjon)
Samt mange meldinger både på messanger, instagram og på hjelpesider på profilen min.
Jeg har blitt og blir fortsatt fullstendig ignorert av Catawiki, og selger nekter å betale meg tilbake.
Som jeg har skrevet til kundeservice 50 ganger og med selger på kopi...

En gir liksom ikke bare bort pengene sine!

Jeg har vært i en sårbar situasjon det siste året med mye sykdom, og med denne grufulle saken her i tillegg så har jeg nå fått påvist magesår.
Det er avskrekkende at ikke kundeservice har hjelpt meg, og ikke minst har svart på mine mailer på ca.6/7 mnd.
Jeg er sint, fortvilet og ikke minst svært skuffet da jeg er en ærlig person som liker å gjøre opp for meg umiddelbart når det kommer til penger.
At support støtter stort sett kun selgere er kun helt og alene for profit delen.
Men, dere har jammen tjent mye penger på meg også etter alt jeg har handlet
Husk at de får utbetalt både fra kjøper og selger fra hvert salg, så her går det i pengespekulasjoner fra auksjonshuset sin side.

Many fake ancient coins for sale watch out don't trust their experts, especially Willem knaepen! Many fakes like this Alexander coin, is sold 3 times on catawiki, they try a 4th time after 3 returns

Catawiki take high commissions and charge the buyer 10% of the value as buyer protection.
Like in my case I dint receive my item, they ignore my messages,
This was really my last purchase at Catawiki

Parcel did not come because seller set incorrect phone number. Parcel go back to seller and no refund was provided. -395 euro. I opened claim with bank and open police claim for scamming... will wait for them to punish

BTW - my reviews on their website they delete. All other review websites - only negative reviews.

On trustpilot they post fakes positive reviews - you can see by history when they start to... very nice company :)

They invited me to become professional seller in Jan 2023 and promised me a seller fees of 6%. However without any notification (no email, no message), they increased my fees back to 12.5% plus VAT. I priced my item according to 6.5% so deducted 13.5% (plus tax) away from my final sale I'm actually losing money, I almost shipped the item without noticing. I can believe such a big company they SCAM sellers like that! I won't ship my item until they change my rate back. I'm done with Catawiki

I finally did get a refund for the damaged fossil but it was an onerous process - emails back and forth with them, back and forth with the seller, waiting, etc. Sucked up my time for an issue that should not have been that big of a deal, since I provided photos of the damage to everyone, as well as the postal receipt for the return. They might want to instruct sellers to CAREFULLY package fragile materials - some do, some don't. I think they are still having growing pains. A negative aspect is, it's not like an actual auction where you can preview the merchandise - so, you're dependent on photographs to make a bid decision or not.

Paid $194+ US for a fossil crab. In the picture, the crab has both claws. The specimen I received had one claw broken off, completely. When I received the package, it looked as if a 5 year old packed it and the broken off claw was nowhere in the package. This tells me that the seller KNEW he was not sending what he had portrayed in the picture, because it was NOT broken in transit.
Buy at your own risk - would not use again.

I don't recomend this at all. Even if you pay a buyer protection, you are not protected. They give you 3 days to see if there are any problems.

I personally have ordered wine from different providers. I found out sometimes 3-6 btl like vinegar, for which i lost at least 100 euro per order.

No response, people don't care, no responsability.

Their answer was that i have 3 days to test the merchendise.

So if you order 100 btl you have 3 days to open them all to see if they are bad or not!

Terrible, will never use or recomand this to anyone.

Better prices on Amazon + they take responsability!

The seller sent me a page in Dutch (not even in English) that I did not know how to translate, they tried delivery one day, without notifying me by email, I was not at home and they never tried again (I paid €45 for shipping)
I complained to Catawiki and they told me that they had already paid the seller and that I should settle with him, the seller does not pay any attention to me, he tells me that Catawiki will return the money, and so I go and nobody solves anything for me.
Catawiki charges extra to protect the buyer, I really don't know what they have protected me from...I will never buy anything from their website again!
They are scammers!, if everything goes well, great...but if you have a problem, you lose the product and your money and no one cares.
I unsubscribed from the page...oh I don't even want to have access...

Complete scam.
Complete scam. They send you broken items. You get a few hours to complain, then after over x amount of days you get a few hours to arrange return or they get to keep your money if you can't make 4 hours free of working hours to arrange the return of a worthless broken item that they charged a minimum of almost 200 euros payment and the keep unless you find packing material and a printer before the courier is knocking Great gamble on their part.

A bottle of very fine wine has been deliver to the wrong address and Catawiki customer service refuse to help by putting pressure to transporter.
Instead they charged me, telling me that I should go and recuperate the bottle myself.
Even after I explain it has been over a month at +30o in summer = probably undrinkable

I´m so disappointed with Catawiki. My very first auction I purchased THREE items and it took weeks to arrive and EVERY item arrived broken. You can speak with no human at Catawiki regarding the problem, only a HELP (not) menu that indicates you should contact the Seller. I did, but to return the broken items I would be responsible for 3 new return shipping costs to three countries and I had already paid shipping costs PLUS the Catawiki commission fee and their ripoff 9% protection fee. This site is a joke and the joke is on the consumer. I believe the 5 star ratings are internal from their side. BUYER BEWARE!

I just bought my first item on Catawiki: 18 kt. Yellow gold - Earrings Blood Coral - Pearls... at 480 euros.
CISGEM experties confirmed my doubts: they are made of PLASTIC!
I am wandering who is the most responsible for cheating me, the seller or the Catawiki expert?
Moreover just keep in mind that Catawiki allows the sellers bidding over your offers and allows more and more minutes at the very end... whyyyyyy?

I guess Catawiki is trying to explore how to get into the business in the wrong way. Horrible customer support, incredible bad concept (awful experts estimations, high fees, letting people go by their own bid, instead of setting an initial starting price - even the action will end with now result since everyone's outbidding the seller's desired price). This site should just die, so others could actually learn how to do business and come with a better experience overall.
