I took out my Powertrain Gold policy some 3 years ago when I bought a pre-owned Jeep Cherokee on finance. I still owe $2500 on it and when it recently overheated and needed repairs, I used my cover for the first time in that 3 years, after paying well over $3000 to the company. The repairs - new water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt - came to $586. Although CarShield did pay a portion of it, I was still left responsible for $285. I know that I had a $100 deductible, but am extremely disappointed to have had to pay anything more than that. Why? Why did I have to pay anything at all? As soon as I've posted this review, I'm cancelling my policy which has cost me thousands and not delivered, and the $110 a month is going to go into a piggy bank for any future work that needs done on the Jeep. I'd advise anyone else to do the same. They do not deliver what their ads say they will.
We just signed up with Carshield. The representative, Hunter, was friendly and professional and explained the product clearly and thoroughly. Looks like a great product.
CarShield is a complete nightmare. I purchased their extended warranty thinking it would provide peace of mind, but it turned out 2 b a total waste of money. First of all, They say u can use a Mechanic of UR choice."THE LIES" If ur Mechanic does not accept Carshield then THE CONTRACT IS USELESS!
When my car broke down and I tried 2 make a claim, they found every possible reason 2 deny it. They claimed that the repair wasn't covered due 2 some obscure clause buried deep n the fine print. It felt like they were actively looking 4 ways 2 avoid paying 4 anything.
To make matters worse, even when they did cover a repair, they only agreed 2 pay a fraction of the cost, leaving me 2 foot a hefty bill. Their coverage is so limited and their customer service is ABYSMAL. I ended up paying MORE out of pocket than if I hadn't bought the warranty at all.
I would strongly advise AGAINST purchasing CarShield. It's a rip-off and they do not stand behind their promises. Save your money and look for a reputable warranty provider instead.
The starter on my 2018 f 150 was remaining engaged at startup. Took it to my mechanic, he contacted car shield and work it all out. Replaced the part and all I paid was my deductible. Easy peasy.
I've been a customer for nearly 2 years ($3,000 paid in membership) without filing a claim. Had a component in my cooling system break down (part cost only $42). My claim was denied. With the newly updated app, I can't click the link to open my contract to review my coverage to reference what is or isn't covered but I keep up on my preventive maintenance. The component is "the vehicle breaking down" yet the repair isn't covered. The rental - that's only AFTER the garage figures out what is wrong and if the repair will take more than 4 hours to repair. I live in Muncie IN & the population of our county is@ 115,000 but the only "approved" garages were a KIA dealership, Midas, & Meineke. The garage has to wait forever to call them and start the claim. The garage can't be on hold half the day. Yet when i called and talked with an agent, that agent can't call the garage with me on the line to help start the process. It's a shame they don't stand behind their alleged coverage for repairs. I will definitely be canceling my contract with them.
Someone is not saying the truth. Car dealer said That Carshield lies and Carshiel said Dealer lies. The problem is that costumer is in between and paying for service on both sides. I pay monthly to Carshield and I pay for job on my car. In other words...I paid double. Customer service on both sides are terrible and never contact me to end this nightmare. Carshield never return calls or never answer the phone. Last two times they put me on hold form more than 45 minutes and just cut the call with no reason.
This company is a scam they do not pay all the labor rate they want u 2 pay the handling fee of their part to be ship to the shop they say the shop part is to high on cost I drop them they are not fair to customers
The internal clutch inside the automatic transmission is not cover as part of the power train.
I kept on getting different information as far as the internal clutch coverage.
My contract said that you will cover all internal part of the transmission.
The representative gave answers quickly and pleasantly. As the policy was not lapsing the call was unnecessary.
I attempted to purchase extended warranty for my 2012 F150 truck. Thru Carfax it was reported to have over 300 thousand miles. The condition of the truck indicated a lot less. Michelle from Carsheild informed me that with that many miles it couldn't be covered. She encouraged me to dispute this with Carfax. She was very apologetic and helpful. She was very pleasant to talk with. I started a dispute with Carfax which includes a trip to the Ford dealership. They accessed the ECM which confirmed it had *******.5 miles. I received a letter from the Ford dealership confirming this which I sent to Carfax. I then called Carsheild to let you know. I didn't get her name but I've never been treated more rudely. I was informed that Carsheild only is your information source and wouldn't listen to me or anything about the dispute with Carfax then hung up on me. I understand bad days but that has no place in customer service. Thank you for listening. Norm

I was on the fence about keeping the Car Shield contact, because of the monthly cost. The problem with my vehicle didn't seem to be covered when I read the coverage booklet. I was very pleased with the quick service from the mechanic to evaluate my vehicle's problem and Car Shield's approval to fix it on the same day. They got the parts within days and my vehicle is running fine.
Knowing you need to have your transmission rebuilt is a scary situation. I want to thank Car Shield for making it less scary. They paid the majority of the cost and I have my car back. Thank you Car Shield.
