-1 for customer service
August 12, 2023

I made a booking online, prior to this I called in to confirm everything was fine as I am a restricted license driver. I was asked how long I had my license for to my response I said 10+ years. After all was confirmed I made my booking online and paid deposit just in case anything g was to go wrong upon arrival.
Fast forward to the day my toddler and I arrive into Auckland. My email confirmation states to come out of door 4 and at the bus stop jump on park and ride and disembark at 2nd stop where the car rental is located. I followed these instructions to find there was no car rental there. Bear in mind I don't know my way around and I am not from Auckland.
I call the telephone number on my voucher and a female rep answered and said to get back on the bus and come back to domestic, no apology no nothing.
I arrive back at domestic and at the car rental and an older pacific island lady with gold tooth or teeth asks how she can. Help me. I am mid sentence explaining myself and she walks off to the back for 2-3 minutes then comes back and asks me to give my details to the younger girl that was standing at the computer.which I proceeded to give my license and voucher.
The older lady then sees my license and says oh no you'll need to be a full license driver, I explained to her that this was not a problem when I called in the week of my booking and asked her colleague. She just brushed me off said sorry no car.
I asked her if it was ok to get one of my family members with a full license to come and get the rental out as I have no other way of getting around the next 2 days but whoever it is that will come will drive me around. She said yes fine.

3 hours passed and bear in mind I was travelling with my 2 year old it was cold and raining while I was going back and forth due to their lack of updating the address. Anyways it is Wednesday and most of my family are at work so no one could come to our aid straight away. I called back through and said I am still getting a hold of someone as everyone is at work, I was told that's fine as the booking will be held till closing time which is 1.30am.
About 3.45pm my cousin responds and says she is off work now and can come with her husband to get our rental and drive us home and around. When my cousin arrives the older Pacific Islander lady asks her if she knew me, my cousin said who? Manu? Yes I do. The older lady said no that's not her name, and proceeds to ask me what my name is so I told her my full name first name being Catherine middle name is Manutala'aho BUT I go by Manu and I have done so all my life.
The rep then says no sorry I don't even know if you guys know each-other I can't and won't be releasing the vehicle.
At this point my daughter is tired and hungry and cold and so am I.
I thanked her and said we'll try elsewhere as my cousin husband works and they can't give their car to us however my cousin can drop us to and from the wedding and then drop us back to the airport on Friday morning. The customer service rep couldn't care less.
I will never be coming here eve again and will be making sure I post my feedback everywhere so that people are aware.
I would've been fine if she just told me from the very start I can't get anyone else to pick up the rental then I wouldn't have wasted my time trying to get my family to come through and I could've just I
Ubered home and ubered to and from the wedding I was there to attend.
Customer service is very poor the staff couldn't care less what was going on and didn't even apologise for sending my daughter and I I. The rain to the wrong address when we could've just crossed the road and not Satan's and wait for a bus and all of that.
I paid a deposit and I would like that refunded and to be compensated for all of this unnecessary drama.
I would also like to know what actions were taken to further educate your staff on how to provide customer service.
Very disappointed!

Charged "Damage Excess Protection" insurance does not exist
June 25, 2022

Voucher: CFFE5D4F
Damage claim: *******
Claim date: 8. 11. 2021

It's now more than 7 months ago that the claim for the excess of €1,675.- charged by the Maltese CityGo local rental company company was reported to Carflexi.

What happened: The car was parked on a public road and the driver door got damaged during night.

I would like to inform other people out there, that CarFlexi is not really providing the "Damage Excess Protection" as described during the booking process.

Since I reported the claim CarFlexi asked every 1-2 months for something else without paying anything so far!

23. 11. 21: Carflexi claims that they are overloaded with requests and that their claims department will contact me soon.

03. 12. 21: Carflexi is starting to ask questions which were reported before (date of incident, reporting the damage to CityGo and now they are asking for a police report. In the original version downloaded about "Theft & Damage Excess Protection" was not listed that you have to see the police in case of a damage without an other car.

31. 12. 21: Carflexi is now asking again for the date and a description of the damage and an estimate repair invoice?
--> how could I from Germany manage a repair place in Malta or CityGo to do this?

--> on Febr. 11th I sent the Maltese Police Report to Carflexi
--> on March 12th I ask again Carflexi to settle the open €1,675.-

14. 03. 22: Carflexi states, that they can't resolve the claim because CityGo charged €1,675.- for a small damage on the door which seem to much. In order to proceed with the claim they need from CityGo in Malta a detailed repair invoice.

--> I contact Maltese CityGo and tell them about it. Of course CityGo describes the door damage as major and sees the €1,675.- charged as justified.
--> I ask CityGo to send an repair invoice to Carflexi. They claim they have done this already.
--> on May 6th I send the repair invoice #******* from KWL Repair Centre (Maltese car repair) to Carflexi and ask to settle the invoice

06.05.2022: Carflexi states that they are dealing with this and I should stay patient

--> this was 6 months after filling in the claim
--> no where is written that you have to manage the repair of the car in the country you rented it... and if the local car rental provider charged to much, you will not be paid:-(

I would be rich as well, if I would sell insurance coverage to my clients and then not provide the coverage...

Tip for consumers:

don't believe into the Carflexi damage excess coverage

If you don't want to be cheated, you better avoid any business with CARFLEXI
October 22, 2019

I rented a car via CARFLEXI web site and it destroyed out pleasant trip to Istanbul / Turkey for me & my family.

Upon arrival at Istanbul International Airport, as per the instruction given on CarFlexi voucher, after collecting my luggage I went to exit no: 7 on the departure level, but there was no one waiting for me. I asked the security officer whether anyone asked my name from CarFlexi local rental car company EXPY, he said "NO", but he said they may be waiting outside the building. I went out and looked around but I could not find anyone; so I had to enter the airport building again.

I have thought I could find someone at the EXPY car rental office at the airport car rental offices section, but I found out that they did not have an office at the airport!

With someone else's assistance I called the telephone number on the voucher and talked to someone. He said they will send someone to meet me at exit number 9. After 20 minutes a young person came and we had to walk back to exit no 6 to meet another person, who took me to their so called office about 15 minutes away from the airport. It was a small car parking area with a shed in it.

When I asked the person representing the car rental company whether he is working for EXPY he said he did not know that company. He said he is working for a company called Panaroma. The car rental papers had also a different company letterhead!. At that point I did not have any idea which was the company that I was hiring the car. He said they get car rental bookings through third parties and then they deal with the customers. However, on CarFlexi webpage there are only the most well-known car rental company brands like AVIS, Hertz etc. This was a quite a shock and a complete disappointment for me.

I needed a car, so despite all my disappointments I paid remaining portion of the car rental cost with my credit card. I only wanted to get the car and go to see my waiting family members.

The car that was allocated for me didn't resemble to the car described on the voucher and front section of the car was also badly damaged. When I said I could not accept such a damaged car I was informed that they did not have any other car and if I did not want to take the car allocated for me my only option is to cancel my order; so t I cancelled my order. They refunded me the money that I paid and took me back to the airport where I hired a car from one of the reputable car rental companies.
Then I contacted Car Flexi several times through emails and informed them my experience in Istanbul. They did not take any responsibility and did not agree to refund me the amount I paid CarFlexi instead; I read lies and childish excuses. Money is one thing and they tried to cheat customer and rip off customer

IN MY OPINION, if you don't want to be cheated, you better avoid any business with CARFLEXI!

Refund process and communication
August 22, 2019

I rented a card with a really good price from carflexi at the end of June for a week. The process was straight forward and quick and i was really really satisfied, and here the keyword is WAS!

At the end of our holiday (July the 4th) at the car rental we noticed a 10 cm scratch above the left side of the rear bumper, precisely in the curve of the body ( tipic that someone parking behind me during the holiday, didn't calculate well the distance while manouvering out of the parking stance). Of course i had to pay on spot at the car rental 430, and i signed every documentation digitally on an ipad.
The car rental sent me right away everything in a digital copy (since nothing was signed on paper) to my e-mail address, and told me that i have to contact Carflexi for the refund (since their insurance by contract should cover until 1500).

I've contacted the Customer support of Carflexi straight away the same day, forwarding them all of the documentation and asking regarding the "next steps" (july 4th).

After more than a week (July 13th), they replied that i should write them down the details of the damage (everithing written already in the digital documentation that i've sent them already on the 4th...).

To meet their needs, I wrote them again the details on July 14th.

After this, a long disussion started, because Carflexi as per the contract, should receive everything via post in paper format... (they wrote this on the 16th of July).

After various mails and calls, i applied again to their requirements, which in 2019 i still think are totally stupid, since every documentation that i had was DIGITAL, so what i had to do was to print out the papers, put them in an envelope, and send them, which afterwards they would have received, opened the enveleope, throw it in the bin, and they would have had the printed papers which they could have printed already in their office... but ok...

On the 23rd of July I've sent them via post the papers, which via the post tracking system i saw that on the 28th at 9:04 was already at their "postbox".

I had to write again mails, asking a confirmation that thei received the package, and to give me some king of update, until finally they wrote on the 9th of August: "we kindly inform you that our Head Office has received your posted documents and we are currently waiting for an approval. We will inform you shortly." again 11 days later!...

We are now at the 22nd of agust which means, since my first mail passed 36 working days/49 calendar days, and still NO RESOLUTION, and I'm writing them mails without any reply, asking kindly for some kind of status update...

I would not reccomend this company to no one!

Total ripp-off, be sure they will somehow rob you
July 19, 2017

1. Even though I was looking to rent a car in the airport, the offices were not in the airport, they were actually miles away, had to wait half an hour for a shuffle bus to come and pick me up, after taking a good fifteen minutes to find where did I have to wait for the minibus. If what I wanted was to quickly leave the airport in my rented car in about 15 minutes after landing, it took me one full hour just to get to the offices of the renting company! Not what I wanted, not what I was expecting, not what anyone who is looking to rent a car in Madrid's airport would expect! And the return is going to require me also more time to get to the airport, this is a bit of a scam!

2. Once I get there, the first thing they tell me is that they want me to pay, either 13 euros for a full/full fuel deposit or 25 for a full/empty deposit: "take the deposit full, bring it back empty for no further charge". I go for this option.

3. Then they tell me I don't have full insurance. I tell them that I do, and they say I don't. I show them my e-voucher, which has Centauro at the top right corner, and carflexi.com at the bottom... They say, yes, I have hired full insurance with carflexi, but Centauro does not recognise that full insurance! Not happy! Either I pay a second full insurance package with Centauro, in addition to the one I habpve already hired with carflexi.com, around 300 more, or I leave a deposit of 1,050! Really not happy at all. They do show me the small print on the evoucher saying that carflexi.com would reimburse me if I had to use it, but I am still not happy as I'm starting to distrust everything I hear. I tell them that, as most people, I have a limit in my credit cards and could we split the 1,050 euros in between a couple of cards? They say no! Either I can make a payment of 1,050 in one single card or I have to pay for a SECOND full package insurance costing me 300... I'm really getting annoyed now.

3. It takes me another full hour more to get my bank to allow the payment of 1,050! Not happy! I should be dining with my friends by now, instead it's already 10.30pm and I still don't have a car! So I say, Ok, let me pay you the 75,85 that I owe you and let me get out of here. NO, they say, you have to pay 166! What? No way! Yes! Sir, they say. How come? I inquire? Well, the 75.85 pending from carflexi.com, plus 66 of the fuel deposit, plus 25 of the full/empty option. Wait a minute, I say, I've got here a piece of paper that says I've already paid 116 and I only have to pay 76 more and I get a car, and you've already made me make another 1,050 euros and now you're adding charge after charge, NOT HAPPY! Well, they answer, we will refund you the 66 if you bring back a full fuel deposit. Then, why have you made me pay 25 to be able to bring it empty? I want to change that to the full/full option. You can't, Sir, you've bought that packaged on the Net, I cannot change it. No, I answer, your colleague (who by now has finished her shift snd left me with this other male clerk) sold me that package when I arrived, two hours ago now! Change it. No, I can't, says the clerk.

4. So, can you explain to me why do I have here a piece of paper that says that I just need to come to your office, pay 76 euros and take your car, and you're telling me that I have to pay 166? No answer.

By this point, my trust in both companies, Centauro and flexicar.com is totally broken. I trust absolutely nothing. I fear that, if I pay and take the car, by the time I give it back they will find some kind of excuse to keep the 1,050 deposit, and I don't trust carflexi.com neither that they will refund me, because there surely be some kind of small print somewhere that I haven't noticed. So I say I want to cancel the whole thing and want my money back. They say they can't do that neither. Who can? I ask. Carflexi.com. So how can I cancel, I inquire. carflexi.com has a 24/7 phone line. Can you ring it for me? Yes. The clerk rings 34 *******, no answer. Then he rings **************, no answer. He tries both numbers again, no answer on neither. So what now? I ask. Well, either you pay what I say or you go away with no car and no refund. So I call the police and I ask for complaint forms. While I'm filling up the complaint forms the police arrive, are very sympathetic to my cause, and tell me that there is nothing that they can do there for me, but that they do understand my plight and that if I wish, I can go at any time to the police station and put there a civil complaint for possible fraud/scam.

Of course, the complaint forms are all in Spanish. Luckily, I am Spanish, I dread to think what a nightmare this would be if I was English and didn't speak Spanish.

Four hours after my flight landed, I leave Centauro's offices without a car and without my 166. Thank God my good friends have come to pick me up and I don't have to pay for a taxi and I can finally start my holidays, albeit without a means of transport.

Bad Behaviour
September 20, 2016

Dear Customer Support team,

I would like to inform you that I'm very Dissatisfied with your quality of service during for my latest rent with your company, I'm surprised and chocked from what happened to me because of you, I will illustrate in details my case:
- I made a reservation in 06 August 2016 with a confirmation number / E-Voucher no.: ******* for a Compact, Nissan Tiida or similar car to be rented from Dubai International Airport terminal 3 from 14 August 2016@ 17:00 till 15 August 2016@ 10:00 through "Payless" car rental provider.
- Car Flexi charged me in 06 August 2016 with 12.17 EUR.
- When I arrived to Dubai through Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, I called "Payless" car rental provider on their number which included in the voucher: *******4545 and asked them where is their location and informed them with my rental E-Voucher / Confirmation no. ******* but they replied to me that they don't know anything about my rental and they said that may be Car Flexi didn't send the confirmation to them on their email.
- So I asked them what can I do now as I have an urgent meeting in Abu Dhabi, they replied that I have to wait till they check and revert again to me.
- I waited 20 minutes their reply but they didn't reply.
- I enforced to go to another rental company called" Dollar" and rented another car in order to catch my meeting in Abu Dhabi.
- When I received the car from Dollar and while I'm exiting the airport parking a representative from "Payless" called me and informed that there is someone waiting me in renting car area, sure I replied to him that already I rented another car to catch my meeting.
Hence I'm very dissatisfied from this behavior and my deducted money 12.17 EUR in addition to a compensation to my wasted time and additional cost by renting a car on spot in Airport which is more expensive comparing with renting the car though the online reservation.
