“Helping our Family”

Jena Kloepfel has been above and beyond our expectations. We had no idea on how to help our parents live a well deserved last segment of their life. She started with helping us even know what mom and dad could afford. They are both in the same facility with different levels of care. Just knowing they are being in a safe place is more than we can imagine. She followed up with us to make sure all is good. Her heart is truly In her job. Thanks Jena

“Fake community resource”

G R.
2/5/24

My mother was admitted to the hospital (NY) a number of weeks ago. Her treatment team connected us to Rich Curry to help us begin exploring appropriate assisted living communities. I spoke to him and provided clear information of her resources and insurance. He went to meet her at the hospital and planned to contact us with the communities he thought would be a good fit. The hospital discharged her with the understanding that we were now connected to a community resource that could assist us. Well he never reached out again and did not respond to multiple outreach efforts. We are essentially alone trying to navigate all this. I informed the hospital staff and they were very disappointed Rich did not follow through. I really hope the hospital thinks twice before using his "services" in the future when discharge planning for vulnerable elders. I took some time to research Care Patrol and it appears it's a franchise that makes commission with communities they have contracts with. I can only assume my mother isn't their ideal money making client. He could have just said that rather than acting like he could help us and leading the hospital to believe their referral to him was a valid part of discharge planning. Very sad indeed. Do better McCarePatrol. See the screenshots… no answer.

CarePatrol was recommended to me by a home health agency in Toledo, OH. The facility in which my father was placed represents the worst of the bad stereotypes that you hear about such places. When I reached out to this CarePatrol advisor after my father's multiple falls and the facility's blatant disregard of HIPAA regulations, she simply stopped responding to me. I even wrote a lengthy letter of complaint to the franchise headquarters about my experiences. The letter came back as UNDELIVERABLE. The email on the franchise website sends you to a webpage. I filled out the form on the website asking for contact information for headquarters and heard nothing (though the system confirmed receipt of my message). This company is unethical and turns a blind eye to elder abuse while profiting from it! Despicable!

I used them to help place me in a nursing home. The home they found me was just great. But then yesterday I took a call from the guy named kevin he told me he was coming to take pictures of me and other people at the place Ian at. I grabbed the owners because he scared me. They never got a bill from carepatrol but he was from billing. They told me they were sorry but that shouldn't of been up to the nursing home.

Went with the recommendation of Care Patrol for my Mom and after 3 weeks she was covered in bruises. Talked to both the residence owner and the Care Patrol rep and was assured that this was not normal. I monitored for the next couple of days and the abuse continued and actually GOT WORSE. Care Patrol's only concern was their commission - I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Their only concern is how much money they can make off of you or your loved one and not about the type of treatment or care your loved one will receive.

I am a disabled veteran who was an inpatient at the VA hospital when I was introduced to Capital District care patrol. Furst these people have nom business working with the VA hospital. I needed a safe place to live and that is all I wanted. Care Patrol told me Diamond Ridge was excellent so I spent what little money I had to move in. First I was out over a 1000.00 when capital care patrol told me i would not need to pay rent at my current apartment. He was wrong and I got stuck paying over 1000 that I did not have and should not have had to pay if care patrol knew what it was doing. On top of that I was touched inappropriately by another male member, the bus for transport was unregister, uninspected and uninsured for over 8 months. The food which is supposed to be included in rent in inedible causing me to have another 600 a month food bill. There were full grown (2) pit bulls living in one of the apartments. This is an over 55 community with people in walker with pit bulls running around and they never go outside to do their business. I was loied to by care patrol and I had to leave that unlivable situation and am now in living in a hotel because care patrol destroys lives.

Care Patrol was recommended to me by my mother's rehab. My sister and I went on several tours of communities that would not accept my mother do to her behavior. It was an absolute waste of our time, we toured 4 communities fell in love OVER AND OVER again only to be told, SORRY we cannot take them. It was horrible. They need to do better jobs of screening their communities and if they can handle residents or not. Their commission is based on which community you move into, the higher price, the more they get paid. Unfortunate, just wanted to let everyone know.

I am sorry that this happened to you. You have to remember that a community's #1 goal is to get someone to tour them. That, unfortunately, means that on rare occasions they don't accept our clients. I am happy to hear how hard our Senior Care Advisor worked to try to get your mother into a community. Many communities have rules about what behaviors they can care for or not. It is a shame that your mother's behavioral difficulties made it so the community couldn't accept her. UNfortunately, we can not expect a community to care for someone whose behaviors could be harmful to themselves, staff or other senior residents and their guests. I hope you found an alternative setting for her. Chuck Bongiovanni - Founder

At first I thought it would be helpful but noooo--- they only bring you to homes they get paid from --- lies saying the assisted living places she took me to has experience with what my mom needs help with but they don't! Better to call and visit places yourself.

They claim they work for the client for FREE, the problem is nobody works for free. They get paid by the facilities that sign contracts with them. So when they tell the client that they are going to find the best facility for their mom or dad, what they mean is they are going to find the best facility out of the ones they have contracts with and probably the ones that pay them the most money. The reps are commission only so why would they take the client to a facility that does not pay them. Plus they are very sneaky on how they try and get facilities to sign contracts with them. If you want a company to fairly represent you in finding a place for your family member than find a senior advisor that actually charges money, they will work for you and find whats best for you and your family not what is best for them.

Jonathon, unfortunately you are incorrect. CarePatrol recommends clients to providers that we are also NOT contracted with if it is a good, quality provider. I checked our database of consumers and did not find you. It sounds like you may be a competitor that charges families for the same kind of service. I wish you luck in your business. But these reviews should be for consumers only.

People take the time to research the internet companies. The actual owner who is selling these franchises is on a 20 year probation!

This is absolutely NOT TRUE at all. I am the ACTUAL OWNER and should know if I am on PROBATION

Below is the actual order laid down by the FTC in 2012 re: Care Patrol. The last page states that the order is in effect until 2032. So c. J. seems to be correct in their review.

https://www.ftc.gov/sites/default/files/documents/cases/2012/12/*******carepatroldo.pdf

Update Written 5/30/16:
If "We fully participated with them and received NO fines or punitive damages at all", please post that documentation from the FTC her at Sit Jabber so that your business is shown in a better light because the last item posted at the www.FTC.gov website is the Dec. 12,2012 Complaint lodged against Care Patrol by the FTC.

Hello Angie. If you read the actual compliant you would know that this was for a semantic discretion on our website which was resolved within 30 minutes of the phone call from the FTC. We fully participated with them and received NO fines or punitive damages at all. This was an extremely minor offense. We have corrected this action.
